Obama's second red line in the sand

With war fever again ramping up, cheered on by the military-industrial complex (MIC), I cannot help but remember spineless Barack Obama (he's undergone a total spinectomy) and his red line in Syrian sand. When push came to shove, the predictable happened, Obummer crumbled. Since then he has been shown great respect around the world.

A few examples suffice: He spent a few days in the UK urging a Remain vote--he was so respected, that the Brits promptly Brexited. On a trip to China, the local authorities were so in awe of the Spineless one, that they refused to roll out the typical stairs to disembark. Perhaps they thought he could fly.

Even if he weren't on his way out, Putin, who considers him a weak, ineffectual person and encouraged by the failure of the first "red line in the sand" respects him about as one respects toothless dog. Well, that's appropriate because Obama has a dog complex...oh, sorry for the dyslexia, I meant to say God complex (I pick Charon, a minor god who ferried new arrivals across the Styx into Hades).

Okay, after remembering a memorable speech the Spineless one gave 5 years ago, protesting the way Egyptian authorities were mishandling the local dissidents during regime change, he used words quite appropriate for the mistreatment of today's dissidents within our own borders, First Nations at Standing Rock.

Coersion should not be used to obtain consent...

Obama's new red line is drawn in the tar sands of fracked North Dakota, a state as overtly corrupt as any in this country. The Army Corpse (pun intended) of Engineers has denied a permit for DAPL the continue horizontal drilling into the bounds of the Cannonball River and Oahu Lake (reservoir). This has been supported by a Department of Justice opinion supporting the cessation of such drilling per the ACE. How long will the Spineless One let this "play out"? Until the entire upper Missouri River is contaminated? The TYT video gives all the facts needed. I welcome your conjectures of O'bummer's future (in)actions.

I guess he got real tired at the second election and stopped doing US business except for clear involvement with the Clinton cover-up. Sign, just send in the drones.

for his work in finally exposing our national government for what it really has become - an oligarchy. He wanted to play the game in a bad way, but just wasn't clever enough to keep the charade going because the rethugs wouldn't play the game, thus helping to expose the man behind the curtain. Bernie pulled back the curtain the rest of the way - ripped it back, actually- and now we cannot unsee or unhear or unlearn the truth.

than Obama's simply backing down for no apparent reason. I'll do a blog entry about it.

BTW, am I to understand that the left is angry with Obama for not starting a war in Syria? 'Cause I'm very glad he didn't.

It's use in this essay is simply to point out how impotent this charlatan really is. Regime change, externally imposed, is never a good idea. The principle here is that if you make threats, be ready to back them up. I would like to see us get the hell out of Afghanistan, Syria and points in between. The exfiltration must be performed slowly and without tipping of the indigenous parties as to what's going on. Once we leave, then unfortunately they can again resume slaughtering themselves or reunifying as they wish.

The Council on Foreign Relations has this wonderful idea: "Let's you and him fight and we'll provide the weapons".

buddies had regime change in mind.

Washington's foreign policy establishment, dominated by neocons, has never missed a chance to lambast US President Barack Obama for not enforcing his "red line" against Bashar al-Assad back in 2013.

"For Official Washington's foreign-policy elite, Obama's flinching from a bombing campaign against Assad was a historical inflection point for which Obama deserves hearty condemnation," US author and investigative reporter Robert Parry narrates in his article for Consortiumnews.com.Yugoslavi-zation: Ex NATO Chief Urges Dividing Syria Into Three Parts
To illustrate the point, Parry quotes the latest article of Jeffrey Goldberg written for The Atlantic.
"Friday, August 30, 2013, the day the feckless Barack Obama brought to a premature end America's reign as the world's sole indispensable superpower," Goldberg remarks, referring to the events which followed the August 21 deadly sarin attack in the Damascus suburbs in 2013.

What has been remaining largely unnoticed for years is that fact that the "US intelligence was unsure whether Assad was responsible for the attack," Parry stresses.

It obviously gave Barack Obama pause for thought.

"What I was told by intelligence sources at the time was that the evidence against Assad was anything but a slam dunk," the investigative reporter points out.Contrary to West's Humpty-Dumpty Allusion Syria is 'Coming Together Again'
While US warmongering neocons leaped to a conclusion that it was Bashar al-Assad's military forces that launched sarin attacks against Syrian civilians, American intelligence professionals had serious doubts about Assad's alleged guilt.
Indeed, in his analysis for London Review of Books published in 2014, Pulitzer-prize winning investigative reporter Seymour Hersh shed light on the tragic events revealing that intelligence officials had traced the attack to Islamists and the Turkish secret service.

"The joint chiefs also knew that the Obama administration's public claims that only the Syrian army had access to sarin were wrong. The American and British intelligence communities had been aware since the spring of 2013 that some rebel units in Syria were developing chemical weapons," Hersh underscored.

Remarkably, on December 14, 2015 Eren Erdem, a member of Turkey's main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), told RT that there was ample evidence that chemical weapons materials for the production of sarin gas had been delivered to Daesh in Syria via Turkey in 2013. He also claimed that the Turkish leadership was aware of these supplies. However, back in 2013 Washington was very close to intervening in Syria.

"The neocon strategy almost worked. Across Official Washington and the mainstream US news media, there was a classic rush to judgment," Parry recalls.

"They [neocons] saw the sarin attack as the catalyst for another 'regime change,' so the last thing they wanted was a sober analysis of the evidence. They wanted a 'group think' to take hold and to bait a reluctant Obama into action by portraying him as a wimp if he didn't start bombing right away," he emphasizes.

Since I am happy not to start wars, I don't like saying pejorative things about a President, who, for whatever reasons, reconsiders faux macho bs.
