What happens when ...

What happens when ... when the Dog finally catches the Car?

Unfortunately, we are about to find out ...

[...]
Ok. They have 'won'. Now what?

Each of us remembers some crazy dog in the neighborhood that would bark loudly and chase every car up and down the street whenever they came by.
[...]

'What does that dog think he is going to do with that speeding car if he ever caught it?'

'Dang! I never thought I would ever catch this thing!'

-- telemachusleaps.com

Unfortunately, such an outcome is only going to encourage him ... to keep pursuing his "Winning!" ways.

There is a good opinion piece over at the Chicago Tribune, Commentary: Hillary Clinton wasn't the only big election loser, that brings up some valid points about the future bite from this year's loss:

Because Obama built so much of his record on unilateral executive fiat and partisan congressional votes, much of it seems likely to be swept away by Republican majorities still controlling both houses of Congress working with an adopted Republican president, Donald Trump.

The fact is Obama’s two terms will end with his Democrat Party in smoking ruins in Washington and across the country.

But voters — and a fair number of courts — have consistently rejected Obama’s record of high-handed arrogance and executive overreach. He may have achieved much of what he wanted in the short-term. But that’s made it much easier for any successor, especially one whose party controls Capitol Hill, to erase much or all of it.

Here’s a revealing comparison: During his first week in the White House in January 2001, President George W. Bush had all the Democratic Party leaders of Congress over to the White House to chat, munch snacks and talk about things they might work on together.

Fast-forward to the Obama administration whose Democrat Party controlled both houses when he first took office in 2009. Obama with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid rammed through their plans, especially Obamacare without one single GOP vote.

Republicans will have more experienced politicians to run for President in the future because

Democrats basically have no minor leagues to develop experienced, savvy top-tier candidates at state levels. Starting with the anti-Obama tide of 2010, Republicans have built a stranglehold on state legislatures and governors’ offices.

They now control 33 governorships to Democrats’ 15. The GOP will control 69 of the country’s 99 state legislative chambers, including every one across the South. They will control both legislative chambers and the governorships — the so-called trifectda — in 25 states.Democrats will have trifectas in only six states.

That not only drives the Republican Party’s conservative agenda but grants priceless experience and name recognition to future rising stars. In the Nov. 8 election, the GOP captured blue-collar workers, once a key Democratic component.

Good article.

Here's some great points from this article about why the Democratic Party needs to be broken up.

Democrats preferred to lose with their Wall Street candidate Hillary than win with a reformer who would have edged them out of their right-wing positions. But the main problem was hubris. Hillary’s coterie thought they could make their own reality. They believed that hundreds of millions of dollars of TV and other advertising could sway voters. But eight years of Obama’s rescue of Wall Street instead of the economy was enough for most voters to see how deceptive his promises had been. And they distrusted Hillary’s pretended embrace of Bernie’s opposition to TPP.

Of course the democrats didn't want Bernie to become president. As the author wrote the democrats would have to start representing we the people like they used to do before the Clintons destroyed the values of the party.
I have been saying that part of the reasons why Hillary lost is because of what Obama did and didn't do during his two terms.
Such a wasted 8 years when we didn't get any help with the economy, climate change or increase income equality.
Everything Obama did for this country went to the people who put him in office.
I don't need to remind people who they are.
And under his watch this country saw the republicans not only continue to take over congress but the state's too.
DWS made sure that no candidate that would be a progressive won any of the elections and instead of being fired for doing such a shitty job, Obama kept her on. That gave him cover to hide behind the republican obstruction of any legislation that would help us and hurt his masters.
How about this statement?

Donald Trump is thus Obama’s legacy. Last week’s vote was a backlash. Hillary thought that getting Barack and Michelle Obama to campaign as her surrogates would help, but it turned out to be the kiss of death. Obama egged her on by urging voters to “save his legacy” by supporting her as his Third Term. But voters did not want his legacy of giveaways to the banks, the pharmaceutical and health-insurance monopolies.

I remember the smiles and the tears of joy in Grant park the night he won the election because we thought our national nightmare was over, but it didn't not only not end, it continued.
The only good part of Obama's legacy is going to be remembered for is that he was the first black president to be elected.
We all know what the bad parts are going to be.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

But the Republicans had vowed to obstruct them at every turn, even if they believed in the issue.
Point #2 If they'd "rammed through without a single Republican vote" anything good we would have something like 10 Republican senators, 5 governors, and the Democrats would have trifectas in 45 states.

The author of the opinion piece felt that Obama hadn't done enough to start out on the right foot with Repubs (unlike Bush), and that is why they never stopped fighting Obama. Here's another quote I didn't use above while trying to save space:

In fact, the former senator who promised to end Washington’s bitter partisan divide, the former university lecturer on constitutional law about the equal branches of government, first invited Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell to chat at the White House fully 542 days into his presidential reign.

As you know when you are the driver you have to pay attention to what's happening around you and you can't appreciate the scenery.
I drive up a beautiful canyon to Park City, UT once a month and thought I was seeing the beautiful scenery.
But I had a procedure last week and needed a driver and was amazed by how much I miss driving instead of being the passenger.
Bailey's job was to look for cows so she couldn't be the driver.

(psst, notice Bailey's collar)
I was able to take both Bailey and Abby on a cow round up and we drove the support vehicle.
I'm sure that you can imagine that the dawgs were in heaven surrounded by all those cows.

Both of these articles address the reasons why Hillary and down ticket candidates lost the election.
It's what we have been discussing here. Hillary didn't address the economic pain that people were in after the economy crashed and how Obama's betraying his campaign promises of helping people get back on their feet after it, how he protected the banks by not charging any CEO who committed fraud and after he was elected he put the same people who had a hand in the crash back in charge.
Bernie knew that people felt abandoned by the democrats when the Clintons decided that the democrats would join the republicans in representing the banks and the corporations while deserting the middle class and starting to destabilize the New Deal that FDR put in place.
Both of these articles are worth the read.
http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2016/11/its-class-stupid-not-race.html
In this one there is this statement.
http://www.counterpunch.org/2016/11/15/break-up-the-democratic-party-its...

Democrats still seem amazed that voters are more concerned about economic conditions and resentment against Wall Street (no bankers jailed, few junk mortgages written down). It is a sign of their wrong path that party strategists are holding onto the same identity politics they have used since the 1960s to divide Americans into hyphenated special-interest groups.

Seriously, how could they miss the mood of the country after seeing the yuge crowds that Bernie gathered when he was addressing THIS ISSUE?
Or see the small crowds that Hillary got when she bothered to address the little people instead of the rich elites?
Apparently Bill was trying to get her to address the economy instead of just saying how bad Trump was, but Podesta and Mook wouldn't let him anywhere near her campaign.

In the waning days of the presidential campaign, Bill and Hillary Clinton had a knock-down, drag-out fight about her effort to blame FBI Director James Comey for her slump in the polls and looming danger of defeat.

'Bill didn't buy the excuse that Comey would cost Hillary the election,' said the source. 'As far as he was concerned, all the blame belonged to [campaign manager Robby] Mook, [campaign chairman John] Podesta and Hillary because they displayed a tone-deaf attitude about the feeble economy and its affect on millions and millions of working class voters.

Awe the joys of watching animals having fun. My beagle loves to hide something she finds on her walks.
Today there was a huge pile of leaves stretching 25 feet and she start hiding it at the front. Nope not good enough, the middle? Nope, this spot? Nope. I think she tried 10-15 spots before she found the right spot to bury it. I was tempted to get out and watch her find the right spot again.
Maybe tomorrow I'll see what she does if I do that Smile

Long before this tech was in its infancy we had a dog of uncertain pedigree (my favorite kind) that would shepherd (and protect) my brother about. Videos of that would have been a hit on Youtube, and here.

And the video I wish I could erase from my brain:

Bandit was an escape artist, extremely agile, and loved to chase cars. Unfortunately, one summer over the course of three days, two of my newest "found" puppies joined in the "fun". The "tough as nails" neighbor was really shaken, probably more than any of us in our family. So, "What happens when ... when the Dog finally catches the Car?" I predict disaster, or at least very much unpleasantness.

The Rs will eliminate Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, "welfare", food stamps, and a thing or two that I've forgotten. They will spend a little more than they think on infrastructure. Taxes will go down 10 - 15% and some roads and bridges will get fixed. People will love it. The Democrats will tell horror stories about children starving in the streets, but no one will believe them, because all the pictures will be of black children. The Rs will take ten more senate seats and governorships. Schumer will become a Republican, but lose in the primary.
Then the horror stories will start to hit home. The MSM won't be able to hide the fact that half the people starving in the streets are white. Everyone will be supporting a family member. President Ryan will have to raise taxe and bring back inflation to pay our foreign debt.
And my tombstone will read "I told you so, assholes"
