Plan B? Are the Clintons setting up a new party?

The article cited below is written from a business takeover specialist's viewpoint. The author says he was struck by Hillary's concession speech: the delay, the purple both Clinton's were wearing (the reason for the delay?), the Clinton need/desire for a new income source now that pay-to-play ("their main product feature") won't work any more, her Stronger Together theme, the Foundation already set up and pre-funded, her mention of a "representative democracy such as ours," rather than the representative republic that we actually are.

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-11-13/concession-speech-aka-meet-new-...

"Hint: Start a new movement with its own unique logo, branding, power structure, messaging, and funding all within your control, and startup takes little more than a flip-of-the-switch because seed funding is more or less already – in the bank. It’s absolutely brilliant from a business perspective.

Shed the colors of the “Blue” of the “Dems” and the “Red” of the “Repubs” into the new purple of “Stronger Together!” Hit up disgruntled Bernie Sanders followers with “We’re just as miffed as you! Donate now to the new cause!” “Why wait for another stolen democratic election! Fight now!! Send your donations to: ___________”"

He says to expect more organized Purple Protests and a campaign to end the electoral college, which would mean that winning just three big states, such as New York, California, and Texas, could control an election. Those of us in the Rust Belt, or the Flyover States, would no longer have even as little voice as we usually do now.

I'd never thought of that benefit of the electoral college before, but I do remember now that it and the Senate were set up to protect the interests of the smaller states that were reluctant to join a United States.

is afoot across the land. God help us all. Soros is funding coast-to-coast riots (a few paid actor "leaders", scattered around major cities and college campuses to stir up faux riots). Chelsea is married to Soros' failed hedge fund nephew, Marc Mezvesky (sp?). It's all in the family. The Clintons have stashed away the (stolen) ten BILLION dollars raised for Haiti earthquake relief (2010) under the auspices of the Clinton Foundation "charity". Yep, ten billion just disappeared! Maybe the money was sent in the mail along with Bill's laptop holding four years of Hill's emails that disappeared.

I can see why the Clintons want to disengage from the charred garbage heap that remains of the Democratic party, even though it is they who destroyed it. Greener pastures, folks. No Bernie Bros pointing fingers at "irregularities". Brilliant! A Bill $ Hill party with easily riled up feather-brained followers.

A lot of the protesting here in Seattle is driven by her Socialist Alternative group. Sawant is the only socialist in the country who has been reelected (city council). Kshama also endorsed Jill and was attempting to form an alliance with the Green Party. Right now, she has plastered all the telephone poles in my neighborhood with posters advertising a grassroots effort to build 1000 housing units for our exploding homeless population - a population driven here in part by the brutal economic conditions in so much of the country created by 40 years of neoliberal policies.

Plenty of us despise Trump without being in the Hillaroid camp. Sawant certainly is not.

extraordinarily good deal. Contrary to popular opinion, the homeless don't just disappear if you don't house them. They commit petty crimes to get "three hots and a cot" or end up in the ER. Salt Lake City found that they could house the homeless in one-bedroom apartments, including utilities and food and all necessities, for about $8000 per year; otherwise they cost much more. See:

Here is Kshama's proposal in the Seattle Times. The Socialist Sawant says:

Hundreds of constituents have called or emailed my office, saying that while they may or may not agree with me on other issues, they want to see these 1,000 homes built.

Why does she need a new one ?

The author talks about the concession speech being very calculated etc. Everything the woman ever did was calculated. That's because every time she does something from the heart (DOMA, TPP, Fracking, bombing etc), it doesn't poll well. I think, hope and pray HRC is done running for office. She's getting old to run for Prez again and any other office is beneath her. The night she was nominated, she wore a bridal white pantsuit, like the bride of America. She had on another white pantsuit the night of the election. The morning of her concession speech, however, she dressed in mourning, with Bill coordinating. It may be that they intend to launch something, but this was about mourning. Maybe as the widow of American, slain by Trump's victory.

Please see the images at the end of this blog entry: http://caucus99percent.com/content/theory-conspiracy-theory-or-healthy-c...
I know the sartorial mourning reference was intended because I heard two talking heads on MSNBC mention it on two different shows, so I imagine someone close to Hillary pointed it out to them. Additionally, the day Trump went to the White House, Obama's staffers were all dressed in black (or black and blue) and posed for a photo outside on the steps of the White House, which also found its way to MSNBC. This is a different photo than the one I saw on MSNBC, but was taken the same day and conveys the same message:

Everything seems to me designed to spur the demonstrations and rioting that ensued, nothing more than MSNBC's rhetoric.

http://caucus99percent.com/content/msnbcs-self-styled-liberals-sounding-...

Yet, all we hear is how gracious Hillary and Obama were to Trump. Didn't hear gracious in her speech or anything Obama said, though. Heard some gracious from Trump.

I could not find the photo of that, which MSNBC showed. That they were black the day Trump was there is the point. I didn't say anyone in any photo was looking at Trump.

As far as the width of the pic: Someone else complained snarkily about another pic I posted. I explained to that poster that pics disappear entirely whenever I have tried sizing them on this site; and and can't find any instructions on this site about sizing pics. However, the person who complained then did not offer any help.

I do try to find small photos to post here whenever possible, but could not find a smaller version of that particular one. If you want to pm me sizing instructions or a link to instructions, I'd be grateful. If not, I'm already doing my best.

Very interesting perspective from the author of the article. I think he's spot on. It also fits because she is all about the "Third Way" philosophy. It will be a disaster for them. Cuz, if she doesn't know it by now-- nobody likes her (Clinton) to the point that without political clout she is on her way to becoming a pariah, if she isn't already. Let's see how the impending legal matters she faces unfolds.

I love this part. -- The problem? (for those that truly don’t understand) We are a representative republic. Not – “a representative democracy.” -- She says these ridiculous things with such aplomb.

Through my sometimes myriad and sometimes focused lens, I have always interpreted our Republic as a republic which is served by democratic process. What she has done with that statement is remove the public from republican -- which is what the republican party has done for the last 35 years.

"I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones."
John Cage

The US is a republic. A lot of people have the right to vote, but that is suffrage, not democracy. Democracy is citizens voting directly on issues, like war, taxes, etc. It existed in ancient times, in city states. Some say that, even in city states, it could not have happened without slaves, who kept things going while the head of the household left to listen to speeches and vote. It could not have worked in a large nation in 1789, when people got to the nation's capitol by horse or horse-drawn coach, including in snowstorms (before global warming--or air conditioning, even before electric fans or central heating).

We sometimes have a limited version of it on the state level when the state legislature deigns to allow us a ballot question or referendum. A true democracy would be possible again now, though, because of the internet. Whether it's a great idea to let citizens vote on things like taxes and war, I cannot say.

Technically, "representative democracy" is an oxymoron. Historically, by definition, voting via a representative = a republic. However, dictionaries reflect usage and so many used the word "democracy" loosely that even the dictionary definition of democracy includes the possibility of a representative.

I prefer to keep the distinction because the word "democracy" gives people a warm fuzzy feeling that "republic" does not. The idea that our "representatives" represent anyone anymore, other than the wealthy, is such a myth that I don't think we should have warm fuzzy feelings when we speak about our government these days. And also because we may want to push for an actual democracy some day. As stated, voting via internet makes it possible.

is where she separated the two. It is a republic that is served by representative democratic process. She makes it sound like the two are diametrically opposed.

A full on direct democracy on a national or state level is impossible. That would result in a ochlocracy or mob rule.

"I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones."
John Cage

A republic is a form of government where representatives vote on issues, so "representative republic" is redundant. A democracy is a form of government where citizens vote on issues, so "representative democracy" is just plain wrong.

I am not sure what you mean by "democratic process," but I suspect you mean either suffrage, or the act of voting itself. The act of voting itself does not not make a republic democratic or a democracy. Voting is involved in both a republic and a democracy. I don't know how to explain it any better than my prior post did.

Also as my prior post stated, the internet can make actual democracy possible. "Mob" rule? Wow. Madison, is that you? You laud concepts like "democratic," yet equate democracy with mob rule? Based on what? Do mobs vote? Was Ancient Athens ruled by a mob? Voting does not turn any person into a member of an unruly mob.

Why would you equate democracy, rule by American citizens, will mob rule? The people who have always fought the wars the elites always got us into and paid the bills? I am not sure of the wisdom of allowing votes that could end in voting for war but without raising taxes, which I can see happening if the entire populace votes on such issues, but I do not fear the nation turning into a mob. It never has, even during the depths of the Depression. If anything, we've been far too sheeple-ish for far too long.

We are not a democracy and our alleged representatives long ago ceased even trying to represent us, so we're probably not even a true republic. I don't even think they can be bothered to fake it anymore. What we have is a huge, costly, corrupt mess in Washington D.C., run by lobbyists, funded by big business. Ordinary citizens foot the bill for that giant mess but have no real say in it. As my prior post said, applying comforting words like "democracy" or "democratic" to that costly mess of a plutocracy is not only inaccurate, but it does not serve us well.

up

are effectively synonymous. the "democracy" aspect of it, which took rather a long time coming, is in the universal suffrage. you can have a not-at-all democratic republic, in which only privileged classes select the representatives, or for that matter, in which only privileged classes are qualified to be the representatives.

you are correct, of course, that "representative republic" is redundant.

i haven't encountered many thoughtful people who advocate for direct democracy. the usual argument, which has considerable merit, is that in general the populace has neither the time nor the talent to carry out the necessary research to make well-informed decisions about all of the things that need deciding -- that doing so is indeed a full-time job. of course, in our modern republic, the representatives themselves generally have neither the time (theirs is consumed with fund-raising) nor the talent (they are largely ignorant ideologues), so the heavy lifting is done either by their partisan staff, or by the theoretically non-partisan federal civil service. nevertheless, John Ralston Saul has made some pretty good arguments that government by referendum isn't usually all that swell.

"purple and black, traditional mourning colors?" More than one link, no less? Characterizing six words as a "blanket assertion?" LOL!

(FYI, a post, fully 1/3 of which consists of adjectives, is not a "blanket" assertion in the first instance.)

And I thought your first post to me was, um, unusual. http://caucus99percent.com/comment/149673#comment-149673

I'll accommodate a request from you this once. A link to this post is all you will get if you ask me for anything else without apologizing for that nasty, unprovoked "hello" post. Come to think of it, that was about Hillary, too. My! Anyway, thank you for caring so deeply about colors.

This post of mine includes a sample of a memorial bunting (not from Tonga), as well as the fact that a comment of Lawrence O'Donnell referred to Hillary's concession speech outfit as being in traditional mourning colors (with, of course, no reference to Tonga): http://caucus99percent.com/content/msnbcs-self-styled-liberals-sounding-...

Examples of purple and black mourning or memorial materials are available all over the internet (not for shipping to Tonga or the Thailand).

General:

https://www.google.com/search?q=black+and+purple+memorial+fabric&ie=utf-...

More specific:

https://books.google.com/books?id=5WtBAQAAMAAJ&pg=PA93&lpg=PA93&dq=black... (relevant page of old book discussing proper etiquette of dressing)

Of course, Hillary is not a widow in "deep mourning," to use a Victorian term, who traditionally wore only black until some time passed after the death of the husband.

I hope that sets your mind at rest about the apparently critical issue of whether or not Hillary and Bill were wearing traditional mourning colors when she gave her concession speech. If you have any further questions about that issue, please feel free to contact Lawrence O'Donnell at MSNBC directly. (He seems to be a huge fan of Hillary.) Thanks.

"Behind Blue Eyes"

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man
Behind blue eyes

No one knows what it's like
To be hated
To be fated
To telling only lies

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

No one knows what it's like
To feel these feelings
Like I do
And I blame you

No one bites back as hard
On their anger
None of my pain and woe
Can show through

But my dreams
They aren't as empty
As my conscience seems to be

I have hours, only lonely
My love is vengeance
That's never free

When my fist clenches, crack it open
Before I use it and lose my cool
When I smile, tell me some bad news
Before I laugh and act like a fool

If I swallow anything evil
Put your finger down my throat
If I shiver, please give me a blanket
Keep me warm, let me wear your coat

No one knows what it's like
To be the bad man
To be the sad man

it really doesn't sound like he is singing "four-minute song" (2:01). After searching through many sites, they all say "fold, that's all." Considering the context of the lyrics, "liberated from the fold, that's all" seems to make more sense than "liberated from the four-minute song."

In researching this section, I did find other sections of the lyrics that needed to be edited so I did.

The change it had to come, we knew it all along.
We were liberated long before that song.

But was Pete even playing? Seriously.
And he was out of his mind for sure. Made Keith look mellow.
Those were the days, my friend.

thx.

it as a metaphor about sheep -- although the "that's all" was always problematic, given that it neither rhymes nor makes any sense in the context. then MANY years ago i read a correction somewhere. however, the truth is, i was never comfortable with that, but who the hell could tell, given that daltrey, whatever one might think of his vocal talents, usually may as well be singing with marbles in his mouth, as far as his diction goes. regardless, i am surprised you did not find any hits to "the four-minute song", they are abundant, and many people seem to believe this is the lyric.

you wouldn't think there'd be that much mystery about it, given that the album evidently shipped with a lyrics sheet. i rather expected to find a PDF of one scanned in somewhere, but I didn't. i just tried to locate my 30-year-old cutout-bin copy of the album, but failed; i do not recall it having a lyric sheet, though if it did, that would be the most likely place i got my "information". on the other hand, as i've seen discussed elsewhere, lyrics sheets are not always definitive.

musicnotes has a sheet music version, complete with all the necessary copyright information, and they have it as "from the fold, that's all."

HOWEVER: significantly, you can go to youtube and listen to Townshend's (not Daltrey's) original demo of the song. on the demo, townshend articulates very clearly all through the song, and i don't think there can be much doubt that he sings "from the fold, that's all."

one thing that is quite possible is that, at least in some concerts, Daltrey sang his own lyric, rather than the one Townshend wrote. Historically, the two of them can barely contain their loathing for each other, so it wouldn't surprise me. (National Lampoon once did a Rolling Stone parody that included a sidebar of the two of them discussing their latest album, and disagreeing with each other about everything. "The new album's great." "I think it's shite". "Well, yeah, some of it is shite." "Those were the parts I liked.")

or maybe the whole "four-minute song" thing has just always been wrong. it always puzzled me, since back in the day folks usually referred to "three-minute songs", not "four-minute songs".

what I thought he said. But this acoustic live version from 1979 shows Townsend's intention is:
"we were liberated from the f*l*, that's all."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WYq3iON8KQ Comes at 1:17.

Is he saying "liberated from the fall"? I can hear "a" rather than "o", but the final consonant is not clear. This would fit some of Pete's acid pretensions. Also gives a strong and exact rhyme for "all" .

"Can't Explain"will rock forever!
thx.

in any case, check out the demo and tell us what you think:

I think you're right. He strangles the "o" in fold to hide the ghastly pairing of 'fold' with 'all'. Perhaps my ear simply insists that it must be "fall". As I listen, I hear "fold" more clearly. I concede it is "fold".

But it is as wrong as a two-headed dog.

Pete, I understand. But hiding the crime each time you sing the song is not the best way to handle it.
You could try again on that one line. You know Pete, or you would sing it straight.

Well, I have fallen short a few times myself,

No reply needed.

As to lyrics, there are loads of examples of misheard lyrics; usually because the nature of rock is not to necessarily enunciate but to emote.

Some others are:

  1. Scuse me, while I kiss this guy - "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix
  2. Wrapped up like a douche - "Blinded by the Light" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band
  3. I can't get no, girl reaction - "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones
  4. I got it made, got it made, got it made - "Hot For Teacher" by Van Halen

The correct lyrics in order are:

  1. Scuse me, while I kiss the sky.
  2. Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night.
  3. I can't get no girlie action.
  4. I've got it bad, got it bad, got it bad.

Here is a good website with a whole list of these. http://www.keno.org/classic_rock/misheard_rock_lyrics.htm

Finally, here is one that only an innocent child would hear. I was 10 years old in July of 1972 when this song was released.

Since I didn't know the name of the song, I thought the chorus (which contains the name of the song) was "Please go away".

I didn't know it was actually "Please go all the way" until I was in high school. Smile

legitimate people to organize legitimate protests with legitimate protestors while at the same time having the Forces of Evil (™) infiltrate agents provocateurs and attempt to suborn the movement.
It is distinctly possible that the Clintons are trying to take advantage of public outrage over Trump's racism to start an American orange revolution (and remember how that one turned out) with Hillary at the lead.
As for a new clintonista party, why not? She's destroyed the Democrats (if I can do the math about the decline of the Democrats she can) but has left herself with a base that's about as large as Trump's. With enough money she might beat the Berniecrats to the starting line.

is a big show (at least IMO) and that's all. It's meant to undermine us and keep us divided.

As for Clinton starting a "new" party, seriously, don't make me laugh. She couldn't even keep the one she already bought....

Exactly. That's why I'm sure the Clinton organization is behind all this upheaval. Unless they want us to believe that these protesters are out there throwing a hissy over stuff that hasn't happened yet and at a guy (as horrific as he is) who had nothing to do with how we got to where we are today.

If these people wanted to protest all that's wrong in this country they sure as hell shouldn't be calling for the election to be overturned to install one of the prime movers in how we got this way. The Dems, the 'New' Dems ushered in by Bill Clinton have been running things for 8 years. What they're calling for is a real 'coronation' to give us more of the same simply because she's a 'she'.

It's perfectly reasonable for legitimate people to organize legitimate protests with legitimate protestors while at the same time having the Forces of Evil (™) infiltrate agents provocateurs and attempt to suborn the movement.

Especially if you can, thereby, use the bankroll of the Forces of Evil™ to fund the startup of the legitimate protests, which appears to be exactly what's happening here.

The Clintonistas started raising shit; but that struck a seriously large organic vein of legitimate outright terror at the prospect of President Donald J. Trump.

They lit a fire in seven places, only to discover flames and smoke in eighty, to paraphrase the ancient pre-Confucian Chinese proverb.

If the Clintons left the Dem party and took their minions with them, we really would have a decent shot at taking over the Dems, with all that organizational structure and name recognition. That would be beautiful.

Hillary is the Asquith of 21st century America, if her failure will lead to a representative party. It would be ironic, however, if the Clintons were to form a "moderate""center-right" party (Nixon's "silent majority") leaving the Democratic Party to Sanders, Warren, Ellison, and Grijalva. Schumer and Reid's endorsement of Ellison sounds more like the rats deserting the sinking Clinton ship though.
