They tried to stuff the 1% down our throats ... and the People vomited up Trump

A post-mortem of the Democratic Party & some key factors that contributed to Hillary's defeat:

> The corporatized Black Caucus and its sellout of the next generation
> Merging the Democratic Party with the 1%
> The mass media who sold out and refused to report what was actually happening
> Hillary’s refusal to take the campaign to the people instead of to the rock stars
> Supporting and vowing to extend Obamacare while letting Everyday Americans shoulder the costs of collusion with big Pharma (from its inception until now)
>Donna Brazile who stole the questions – and Hillary who prepared answers in advance instead of exposing the corruption – of the media, of the 4th estate, of the truth.
>Spending the 8 years since 2008 taking bribes from the 1% and the same countries that fund ISIS instead of committing to public service.
> Locking the majority – Bernie’s supporters and delegates -- out of the electoral process, out of the Dem convention & then viciously insulting them.
> Metaphorically, and through incrementalist policies, placing many of the American people – people who have suffered and been impoverished during the last 8 years – into her Basket of Deplorables.
> Refusing to let Nina Turner speak or to let people hold signs for what they believed in – even up to confiscating NoDAPL signs while Springsteen sang.
> Glorying in winning the popular vote on the morning after – after taking no prisoners when squashing the vote of the people in the primaries: California’s votes have never been completely counted. She declared victory before the largest state voted (and planned a fireworks celebration a few days ago while her opponent was out meeting with the people who have been left behind).
> Setting up a private server to cover collusion with the corrupt policies of the Clinton Foundation – then in her concession speech referring to ‘secret Facebook sites’ as if her secret information and systems had never been discussed.
>Making the campaign about how bad someone else is instead of what you will do for people who have suffered under the Obama administration’s neglect.
> Pushing progressives out of the process – people who could not and would not vote for someone who vowed to “stick a knife in Bernie’s heart.”
> Refusal to tell the truth or to demand the truth or to give voice to the people – including the many women and children who were silenced in this process.

Being the most corrupt member of the corrupt clinton crime family. I think that was what broke the camel's back. You cannot hide from the people forever. And, while we may not agree with all of it, the people spoke yesterday -rather loudly and clearly.

However, losing (twice now) a presidential election is not enough. I want them all hauled up and made to answer for their crimes. First Hillary, then Bill, then Podestra, then DWS, then Brazille, then the elections managers who cheated and shredded and robbed us of the primaries. I want the resignation of Lynch. I want Obama to go away to his gazillion dollar mansion and contemplate how he messed up his and our life. I want him to regret his sellout -whether that came when he went to law school or when he stepped into the white house. I don't think that is too much to want.

Neoliberalism is an ideology that is essentially of, by and for the one percent, and it has more or less been the unofficial religion of the Democratic Party going back at least to the days of Jimmy Carter. Last night's election results will not change that one iota. Just as was the case after the unexpected loss to G.W. Bush in 2000, the party establishment's response to this setback will merely be to attempt to do a better job of packaging and salesmanship next time.

The Democratic Party has long been an entity whose essential purpose is to serve the privileged and exploit the non-privileged, and that is something that goes way beyond Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or any individual politician. It's something very deeply embedded in the institution itself. As far as genuine progressives are concerned, the Democratic Party is, and will continue to be, a boat to nowhere.

The neoliberals will never learn; never change.

In light of that, nothing will change if the voting public won't learn either.

We can no longer walk with those who would direct our steps into a ditch if they are offered enough money, prestige, etc.

To do so would be to:

Yaldabaoth, Saklas I'm calling you. Samael. You're not alone. I said, you're not alone, in your darkness. You're not alone, baby. You're not alone. "Original Sinsuality" Tori Amos

Americans are currently devoted to our state religion, capitalism, and thus are not put off by rich, corrupt businessman; in fact, "corrupt" is usually implicit since under our system is generally the case that the rich didn't get all that moola by being moral, ethical and law-abiding. The Clintons were comforted by that observation but failed to grasp that getting rich because of being a politician is still friends on. Still, it was a newer thing; as Maxwell Smart would say "they missed it by that much!".

Thanks for taking the time to delineate the profoundly pathetic process that defines the Democratic Party. You are made of sterner stuff than I, as I would have stopped early in the list with numb hands from pounding the desk . . . or keyboard in frustration.

I am reminded of my grade school days arguing some sociological or political point with a classmate. The end of the engagement would occur as: Classmate, "I think [Well Stated Comment]." Me, "I disagree because, [Comment Addressing Some Aspect Of [Well Stated Comment]]." Classmate, "Well, I do agree!" The problem was that the "Well, I do agree!" was an assertion that they agreed with their own previous statement, with no acknowledgment that a counterpoint was even was offered.

I understand the inability to construct logical arguments on the fly as it were. What I have difficulty with is the total lack of empathic behavior on the part of the "powers that be", they are just like those sociopathic preteens from the 1960s.

being religious, a couple of things from my catholic upbringing popped into my mind this morning upon hearing the news of trump's win. "Thou shalt not steal" and "reap what you sow". I could have held my nose really tight and voted for her had she won the primaries fair and square. After seeing the blatant theft and the in your face "fuck you what are you going to do about it" attitude of clinton and her followers there was no way in hell I'd vote for her. I've voted dem since 1972. I've donated and worked the elections most of that time. Until this election. The dem party leadership have not even begun to realize what damage they have caused to the party. It's alienated many of it's staunchest supporters and pushed aside it's young people.

was based on the information she was getting from her corporate and political receptors of all the money spent on elections, among other things,
it seems that anyone who knows her even a little bit, has seen her steely determination to get the ring of power, in a process which isn't supposed to be a carnival ride
don't want to imagine the atmosphere in that household
wouldn't be surprised if bill was "away"

Hillary made so many mistakes, I had almost forgotten the "everyday Americans" gaffe.

The thing that gets me - over at TOP, any mention of Bernie gets the response: "He LOST the primary", as if all the cheating, dirty tricks and voter suppression by the Hillary squad never happened. Bob Marley had words for this:
"They stab you in the back,
And they say that you're not lookin' "
