I'd like to take a moment to thank JtC and the other admins

I don't know if a thread like this has been started yet, but I'd like to send a giant THANK YOU to JtC and the other admins/moderators/monkey crew for keeping the lights bright, the doors open, and the bar stocked through last night!

As a web designer-in-training, I've gotten a pretty good idea of what that takes, and the time and effort involved in doing this thing. It's NOT easy! One of the nightmare scenarios when building and operating a website- especially a site that experiences huge traffic spikes, like a political discussion forum on election night- is that the site/servers can't handle the load and goes dark at a peak moment, and can't be brought back until hours or more later. While there were hiccups last night (owing to the aforementioned flood of traffic), they've managed to keep things going, and let me tell you, that's a feat.

So, thanks a lot! You've all done a great job here, and deserve a hearty and enthusiastic round of applause!

I need to change my

credit card number, had some identity theft and had to cancel the one I've used here. So many things I used that card for all have to be changed! Glad you mentioned this as I can't keep track of it all.

It's not hard to have a recurring withdrawal from your bank to

JtC.

POPMoney is a service which JtC has signed up for and avoids PayPal if you don't like it.

Setting up an account for a recurring donation is easy. Your bank may offer it as a free service. If so write a private mail to JtC and let him know you want to contribute.

JtC, I would encourage you to add your POP Money instructions in your line up of contributions at the top right of the front page.

Folks, our Admins and founders are aw shucks and humble people: they need our financial support to continue. A few dollars a month from those who can, will keep this site and the family at home afloat.

I really don't get it, but this is what I think I know.

When you go to Amazon.com to buy something, you click a link into an account, sayfor c99. Whatever you buy, Amazon gives 2% to the holder of the page. So if I spend 100.00, c99 would get $2.00 from Amazon.

I can understand this for charities, non-profit agencies, etc. I doubt that Jimmy Dore is either of those, and I know c99 isn't. I've tried to google this a couple of tmes to research it. I never have any luck.

this site is about the 99%. I would like to keep it clean of any corporate/monied influence, including and mostly advertising of any kind.

I would truly like to see us funding this site with people power. If/when donations cease to cover costs then alternate methods will be looked at. Until then I prefer Bernie's method of crowdfunding.

Good question. I have been trying to get that going for months.

It's a pretty simple program.

People save a special link to amazon as their shortcut on their browser and then, based on volume and item type the site would receive a percentage of each purchase.

With the wife's Amazon Addiction we could have probably funded half the site just with her, lol!

Seriously though JTC, thanks for all you do and I am still on board to help set up that "Crafting for the Caucus" auction thing we discussed if now that the election season is over you have the time or interest in such a program.

Once again, thanks for giving us such an awesome place to park our asses.

After observing the Drupal program that we were previously discussing to house any auctions, I've concluded that it would be a huge resource drain and would probably bog down the site performance.

Your initial idea to host the auctions on a separate site is probably the best route. Send me a PM when you get a chance.
