My Reply to Bernie When He Said Hillary Will Appt. Justices to Overturn Citizens United

Bernie tweeted that Hillary will appoint justices to the Supreme Court who will overturn Citizens United, the case that allowed Billionaires and Corporations to spend any amount they wanted buy our election. My reply tweet:

Clearly you haven't read many of my posts, though I have my doubts about how effective changing the Dem party from within will work out. I also believe, however, that Bernie and Lizzie will get very little return on their endorsement of Hillary.

But as for fighting Hillary and her agenda, I will always be standing up against whatever her corporatist masters demand we submit to, even as I get sicker and sicker each passing year.

I look at the NoDAPL protestors as my heroes right now. They aren't trying to collect anything from phony Hillary - they are demanding and fighting and laying their bodies and lives on the line for the sake of the planet. And they are ebing a damn sight more effective in my opinion than calls for Obama to do something, as all he did was ask the Dakota Access Pipeline folks to "voluntarily" suspend their operations, a request they knew they could safely ignore.

On the other hand we are starting to here of Banks considering pulling their funding from the pipeline project today, and that has nothing to do with what any Dem has done.

Nothing will change the Dems from within in my opinion. We have to change them (or whatever replaces them) from the outside in. Just my opinion.

Don't do that, don't make it our fault for not "fighting" hard enough. My God, Steven writes almost every day arguing against our "Democrats" selling out and he put his time and money and health on the line into trying to "hold her accountable" in Philly, I think you should get that name calling thing out of your system.

He has relinquished his integrity with his shenanigans of the past few months. He is nothing more than a distraction at this point. I have great respect for the man, but his time is over. He had an opportunity and he let his fellow-travelers down. There is no coming back from that. Just look at the anemic crowds for his pro-hillary self-debasement tour. We have moved on. He's, of course, welcome to join the pack, but his voice has no authority any longer. It's sad that one would choose to spend their final days that way. I remember when those of full lives were more brave and selfless.

A Reuters/IPSOS poll of people that have voted finds that about 3/4 of the people want a strong leader who will stand up to the rich and powerful. They think the game is rigged.

I think it should be come very clear to anyone not swimming in Clinton Kool-Aid that the path to 2020 means standing up to the rich and the powerful.

2020 starts tomorrow, 11/9/2016: She wants to get relected (assuming she's elected) she's going to need to play Bernie-Ball.

If she doesn't, she's a one termer, and if the FBI gets its way a half termer. (Fine by me, I'll take President Kane, yes, he's third to last choice, but that's better than second to last)

I can only hope that smarter heads than hers will convince her to go hard left. I don't believe she will, but then I don't think she'll get reelected. Someone needs to knock it into her head that you only get 1 Trump to run against. Anyone else would have crushed her, and will crush her in 2020 unless she radically changes course.

In between campaign stops for Hillary Bernie stopped by standing rock and called out the president and both candidates for being amoral enough to turn a blind eye to what was going on. Here in Washington even one of our electoral college, a member of the Puyallup Nation, is saying it will be worth the fine to not cast his electoral vote for her after her squirrely bs non answer. Actually after reading the Podesta e-mails I think from the very beginning he was in it to bring the balking sheep back into the Democratic fold. I don't care about his intentions they matter not. I do not hate him and I'm not bashing him but at this point to think that Bernie or any so called progressive Democratic pol is going to fight the oligarchy is absurd. Stop saying we're defeatist's because we don't buy the bs. fear and loathing emanating from the 'inevitable' Democratic propaganda machine. The Russians did it? Yeah right. own. I wouldn't believe a word out of his mouth if Jesus Christ, Buddha, Queztalcoatl, and Zeus were standing right next to him with one hand on their heart and the other on a Bible, a Tripitaka, an Aztec scroll, and a copy of the Theogony.

I just got home from voting for Stein. We need a third party. We MUST have a third party. The left, the REAL left, has four years to get its shit together and come up with a plan and possibly a better candidate than Stein. WTF has that woman ever done that makes people so upset (besides the Hillbots)? People keep telling me she's 'crazy'. When I try to discuss her with them they just get this smirk on their faces and walk away. It's a miracle she made it on the Nebraska ballot by petition. (The primary was won by Sanders.) But if we stick with Stein, we need to get her more exposure and counter whatever crazy stories are out there about her. And we need to build up the environmental movement, something the Clinton creature's benefactor's will fight tooth and nail.

It's going to be a long, hard 4 years. But we need to work OUTSIDE of this thing the Democratic Party has become. And if anyone thinks it's impossible, I bet if Abraham Lincoln were here he'd tell them otherwise.

EDIT: Took an 's' off the word heart. I doubt anyone or anything has more than one so I fixed it.

The Court could reverse it's position, but it would shock the hell out of me if they did, based on all the prior case law in which they have treated corporations as "persons" with the same rights as human beings under the Constitution. Little known fact: First significant Supreme Court case in which the the 14th amendment was considered involved a Railroad company (the Tech industry titans of their day). Over time, the courts used a series of cases using the 14th amendment to justify favoring the rights of corporations over people.

corporations were people. It was a notation appended in the headnote by a court clerk in the case of Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad, 1886 118 U.S. 394 (1886).

SNIPPET FROM CONSUMERIST ARTICLE

How Corporations Got The Same Rights As People (But Don’t Ever Go To Jail)

Sometimes, landmark case law springs from the most unlikely of sources. In this case, the issue was over whether or not the state of California had the power to tax the railroad for their fencing (the railroad paid taxes on other property, like rails and train cars).

The Court unanimously held that the state was improperly assessing taxes on the railroad, but in the long history of corporate personhood, that part — and the rest of the case — doesn’t matter at all. Instead, the case is remembered for a headnote appended to it by the court reporter, in which the Court’s Chief Justice, Morrison Waite, said he and the other justices believed that the protections of the Fourteenth Amendment of course applied to corporations as well as to individuals:

“The Court does not wish to hear argument on the question whether the provision in the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution which forbids a state to deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws applies to these corporations. We are all of opinion that it does.”

Although that note is not part of any official opinion, concurrence, or dissent, it is part of the official court record and was reaffirmed in later cases. Corporate persons have since been granted equal protection under the law, which forms the foundation for granting a number of other rights.

before he ran up the white flag and became a born-again Hillary shill. Anyone who can say, with a straight face, "I served with [Hillary] in the United States Senate and know her as a fierce advocate for the rights of children... Hillary Clinton will make an outstanding president and I am proud to stand with her here today" is not someone I consider worth paying too much attention to.

Speaking of tweets, I loved this one I saw today from Jill Stein, in which she quoted another enemy of the status quo from an earlier era:

Cautious, careful people always casting about to preserve their reputation and social standing, can never bring about a reform. Those who are really in earnest must be willing to be anything or nothing in the world's estimation, and publicly and privately, in season and out, avow their sympathy with despised and persecuted ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences... --Susan B. Anthony

I suppose history will judge to what extent Bernie was "really in earnest" in his advocacy of a government that serves the interests of the many instead of the privileged few.

There's a nice little fix for that.

Elections are now under the purview of the DHS.
Which will subcontract the polling places out to private industry.

Therefore, anything that happens with regards to elections is on private property.
Therefore, anything that happens is not protected by the constitution, because of already set precedent.

That solves all the problems in one fell swoop.
