This video was brought to my attention in a "Tweet" last summer.
In it, Hedges explains "how" the Liberal Elites, and the past two Democratic Party Administrations, helped decimate the working class.
It is definitely worth a listen!

Who aren't really liberals but then again, it's just a word. Rightist conservative types on "ShitHittheFan" blogs think Obama's a liberal and that three quarters of the national budget goes to food stamps and welfare, which half of them and their sisters are on. Go figure.
Liberal elites are nothing but rich, entitled people too. They say Soros is a liberal. Come on man.
All the rich fat cats at Davos are liberals just trying to help remedy wealth inequality and address climate change. Daily Kos is liberal.

It didn't take me long on Daily Kos to stop calling myself a liberal. No way do I want to be associated with that label when it's being used by rich people and the democratic establishment that supports wars, imperialism, economic wealth inequality, and the loss of privacy and freedom via spying, the War OF Terror, and lies.
It's a worthless label now, I suppose they all are now. Other than rich versus the poor, it doesn't matter.

I'm getting tired of saying that to people who should know better, like Greenwald and Hedges. Do they know they're helping moving the Overton Window rightward? If, for instance, Max Baucus is a liberal, then what's a conservative? And what in the hell am I?

It seems as though any positive label or description gets hijacked and twisted into something that bears no resemblance to what is truly liberal. It is intended to muddy the waters of what we true liberals stand for.

I shied away from liberals all my life for just that reason. I'd rather have a real conservative as opposition rather than a liberal at my side who will jump ship any second.
I thought progressive was a good replacement, but just prefer to call myself a radical.

I like 'radical,' too,
although that can tend to cause a bit of a stir, sorta like 'socialist.' (Not that I really care.)
Since Al From credits himself and his conservative band of conservadems (including the Clintons ) for the "re-branding" of the Dem Party as progressives, I simply cannot stomach the word.
But, it is interesting that others prefer it.
I'm also wondering if it's a bit of a regional and/or age-based preference. (I only attended the first year of college stateside. I was not in the US, say, during the Kent State massacre, etc., so I probably had 'other than US cultural influences,' going on.)
Of course, as Hedges lays out, many of today's so-called liberal leaders are indeed 'sell-outs.'
And, the late Howard Zinn self-described as a radical, and certainly was less sold-out than most of the Left's icons.

I see a springer spaniel in your avatar. Beautiful liver and white. FYI, we have two liver and white springers (Gidget and Roux)...the "crazy Cajuns." They are numbers 4 and 5 for us. We adopted them through the English Springer Rescue Association. Because both of them came from Louisiana and because they are springer spaniels, hence the "crazy Cajuns."

B's our second springer. Our first Springer was a pint-sized Alaskan Sourdough (Field) Springer, 'Chena,' who lived to age 17-1/2.

Both of them kept the names that were posted on the website. Gidget was named by the original owner and Roux was named by one of the ladies in charge of the foster families. Gidget is third row down and 4th from the left. http://springerrescue.org/gallery/adg_index.php?year=2011&month=10 Roux is third row from the bottom, first dog on the left with the blue collar. He looks like a black and white, but he is actually a very dark liver. He is so much handsomer now. http://springerrescue.org/gallery/adg_index.php?year=2011&month=12
ESRA does a tremendous job of rescues and placements. They do a very thorough job of vetting prospective adoptive families. Since springers have large litters and many people do not realize how much work it takes to deal with their high energy levels, a lot of them come through ESRA, and most are pure bred and gorgeous dogs.
Roux and Gidget are much younger than Katrina dogs. Gidget was an owner surrender. The owner was a single mother with four kids and Gidget was an outdoor dog. She was gorgeous but had heartworms. Luckily her heartworms were not bad enough to cause permanent damage. We were able to get her because heartworm treatment medications were scarce in the Mississippi/Louisiana area at that time and our vet had an ample supply. Roux was picked up when animal control found him starving and tied up under a house in Crowley, La. Their shelter was a high kill and he was pulled immediately and placed with a foster family. He was about a year and half old and only weighed 28 lbs. His coat was dull and flaky when we got him. He is now a handsome hound dog who weighs about 42 lbs and has a beautiful coat. Amazingly, he was heartworm negative. He is the happiest dog we have ever had.
We also have a third dog who has been with all five springers. My baby, Willie Bear, is the biggest Pomeranian you will ever see. He weighs 24 lbs and is a throw back to when Poms were 30 lb sled dogs. He is proportioned and looks just like the show dogs, only four times their size. The only other difference is that his coat is thicker and woolier than that of the show dogs. I wish the breeders would bring back a standard size Pom because I love their personalities, but the tiny ones are so fragile.
You do not see the field springers around very much any more. They are much smaller than the bench variety and really look almost like a different breed. 17 1/2 is very long lifespan for a springer.

Actually, (naturally) I've got a bit to say about ESRA, Gidget and Roux--but, right now, I'm being pressed to wind up so that we can run into town.
And, yes, Roux's coat does look almost black [and white]--personally, I love the very dark liver!
B's color liver is not as pretty as Chena's. Chena's color wasn't as dark as Roux's--it was mahogany, and her white was literally incandescent.
Yes, Roux's neck was pretty small for a bench springer--so I could see that he was underweight. All the better that he lucked out when you adopted him, and gave him a wonderful home. But his face was still plenty handsome.
I'll post one last photo when we get back, if I can find it.

Using their old "Families & Children" frame again, too
Limo liberals used the "Families & Children" frame to deflect attention and blame for their draconian policies that hurt the American underclass. It kept health care reform at bay for many years. They're re-introducing that frame again at the Democratic Convention - trotting out Bill to wax eloquently on Hillary's "lifetime" commitment to "Families and Children". Once again, trying to set up low income, working class Americans to compete with poor children instead of funding and legislating solutions for everyone.
Asking for a $15 minimum wage? You're taking money from the poor children.
Asking for Medicare for All? We can't afford it, you're taking money from the poor children.
Asking for restored labor rights? You don't care enough about the poor children
Etc., etc.
