News Dump Wednesday: Election Update Edition

To kill Donald Trump's chances of capturing the White House, Hillary Clinton needs to win Florida. And to do that, she needs a big minority turnout.
But Democrats are beginning to worry that too many African-American voters are uninspired by Clinton’s candidacy, leading her campaign to hit the panic button this week and launch an all-out blitz to juice-up voter enthusiasm.
Voters in Arizona, California, Nevada, Maine, and Massachusetts will decide if they'll join four states and Washington, D.C., in legalizing recreational marijuana use. If measures in all five states are approved, 75 million people would live in a state where recreational marijuana use is allowed. Polls in these states are a mixed bag: Most polls in California show a clear majority of support for Proposition 64, while Arizona's measure seems unlikely to get enough votes.

Over the last 20 years the S&P 500 index has only recorded a seven-day losing streak on three separate occasions. The first was in 2008 after Lehman Brothers collapsed, while the other two were during Europe's 2011 debt crisis. If the index ends the day lower on Wednesday, it'll chalk up a fourth.

That first graph
The democrats were desperately hoping that that would be Hillary's strong point that she was less untrustworthy than Trump, the perception of "the least bad"/""lesser evil" has taken a battering. The only people responsible for this are those that voted for her in the primary, they were told. Despite the wide support from the establishment and the media she still cant convince, now that is one poor performance.
Well, since Bernie won the
Well, since Bernie won the Dem primary, it's not the voters but the PTB/Clinton faction so determined to cheat in the least-trustworthy candidate who are to blame for all this.

Exactly!
Don't blame the victims, blame the party machine and superdelegates.

Google (or in this case, gargle?) it.

There is no such thing as TMI. It can always be held in reserve for extortion.
Part of Trump’s message to whites and men seems intended to
liberate them from the guilt and self-hate that, it is suggested, anti-Trumpers demand from them.
Of course, the sight of the tables being turned so that now it’s whites or men who feel marginalized may strike some on the Left as mere justice, or even be a source of great schadenfreude-inspired satisfaction.
It's wrong to shame *anyone* for something they can't change
It's as wrong to shame people just for having too little melanin as it is to shame them for having too much. It's wrong to shame them for the chromosome set they were handed at conception.
If they become assholes about it, they can be shamed for being assholes, just like anyone else who becomes an asshole about anything. Assholery knows no boundaries.

is it possible he's sunk that low?
wow, what happened to him.
Sad.
Enthusiasm deficit in Florida
Oh, how they ridiculed me when I suggested POC were not going to stand in line for hours in the swing states for Hillary like they did for Obama.
*shrug*
Just add it to the list of many predictions all of us offered that were laughed at, I suppose.

Obama basically won due to PoC and the Young in 2008
being enthused.
This time around it's back to lip service for PoC and the millennials hopes and dreams being denigrated as irresponsible.
Another item on that list
Where we told them Hillary couldn't win if they were going to marginalize the very people they need at the polls. And do you recall their response?

Tell the people you will need at the polls to get lost, and don't be surprised when they don't show up - or vote for someone else.

It was
lip service then, too!
And a LOT of us fell for it. My thought was why Not a younger black man in the White House? He can't fuck it up more than these old, shitty, white guys. Right?
Yes, yes we can.

The DOJ "heads up" email probably needs to be
a stand alone post. BIG news. I gotta run, though.
EDIT: shopping assignment changed...I can get necessities later. SO.
When Comey "reopened" the email investigation, Loretta Lynch agreed to let him go ahead. Lead investigator for the DOJ would be Peter Kadzik. Who is Peter Kadzik? Oh, Marc Rich's (pardoned by Bill Clinton) lawyer. Oh, and John Podesta's lawyer, "Peter Kadzik kept me out of jail."

Now we find out that he tipped Podesta off about the House Oversight Committee probably looking at the emails in the near future. Podesta told Mills "we need to dump these emails", and soon thereafter the server was wiped down with a damp cloth.

that just exposes the cabal even further
and what the hell was he doing using his gmail account communicating with a surrogate of the target of the probe? Completely inappropriate and inexcusable! Possibly criminal I would think.

Very likely criminal.
As was the response. (Bleachbit)

A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
Question 29
The poll associated with the first graph asks what is the primary threat to the election results. Over 45% think the news media is the primary threat while only 10% think it's Russia. Looks like the "Blame Russia First" meme by the Clinton Campaign and the MSM is failing miserably.
Good. I'm glad that we (collectively)
aren't as stupid as they think we are.
Unfortunately, we couldn't prevent one of these two horrible people from becoming our president. Looking more like it will be Trump every day. And Wikileaks isn't done...

I still think the fix is in, and Trump will not be able to avoid
going down to a Goldwater-like defeat.
Yeah, I've thought about that too.
The Trump supporters (and Trump himself) are also pushing the "rigged" meme. If he loses, with the polls turning in his favor now and Hillary's unfavorables increasing, we may see a lot of civil unrest. There are a lot of people out there who REALLY aren't with Hillary.

And don't expect Trump to be a gentleman and concede nicely!
He's NOT a gentleman, and will fight as dirty as he knows how, as long as possible. Have plenty of popcorn at hand.

Popcorn. Bottled water. Candles. Strong locks on door.
Barred windows. Gas-powered generators. Flashlights. Canned food. Etc.
Hi, lotlizard
I just noticed we have sibling kitties. Mine's probably old enough to be the parent of yours though. He's 21 or 22.

What a long life to be blessed with! Nine lives, indeed.
Alas, J__, my avatar kitty, passed on some years ago, after many years being a boon companion of the mom of a friend of mine in the Netherlands.
A Dutch civilian travelling with an NGO — in the past I have told others that it was a Dutch soldier in the UN peacekeeping force, but my friend has since corrected me — originally found J__ as a kitten in a ruin in former Yugoslavia. It was one of those localities where, without warning, neighbors had suddenly gone house to house and massacred neighbors. There was reason to believe he had lost his human family in this manner.
My interspecies friendships with the various cats with whom I have crossed paths serve as a kind of spiritual wellspring for me. J__ in particular struck me as possessed of a deeply loving nature and unusual wisdom.
Wow! What an amazing story.
That was so kind of your friend to take the kitty in.
My kitty was abandoned (sort of) when his owner died. He became the neighborhood stray and kept living on the street where his house was. He survived on hunting and the kindness of neighbors. We got attached to him and took him when we moved when he was about 18. I figured he needed some spoiling after the hard life he's had. He seems to be happy now.

Lots of speculation, elsewhere
(and some here) about what the heck the FBI is doing dumping all these files on old Clinton investigations, into the open. I opined that it was Comey's way of responding to HRCs demand for transparency, and I think that is part of it. But this person (Segami, on JPR) has it in a nutshell.
Each of the investigations released show massive evidence that the Clintons and friends were breaking laws and regulations right and left, that the little people would be tossed into jail for. But they free, every time. And the FBI may not be able to get them this time, so they are showing what they have, and leaving it to us. More at the link:

the speculation has been
that the career FBI agents have been utterly shaken and disgusted what has been unearthed and the accompanying DOJ machinations to keep a lid on it. Not surprised that stuff is 'leaking out' at the last minute.

For me the election is about legalizing pot to undermine power
Trump and Clinton will give us the same shit but with different rhetoric. (You wanna bet the Clinton will crush BLM the same way Obama crushed OWS for example.) Five states are looking to legalize pot and look to be winning. These measures will erode the prison state and corrupt power more than what any democrat can promise. These laws will cause more social reform than we could ever imagine from Hillary and the democrats--which at this point is none.
