Jimmy Dore: On John Oliver's Bullsh*t Smear of Jill Stein (Part II)

Jimmy completes the Public Humiliation of John Oliver for marginalizing the already marginalized (Green Party). He looks at Jill's platform item by item (see graphic below), compares Jill to Hillary on each issue, and points out Oliver's Lies and Omissions. Hint: Hillary comes out looking like Merde (pardon my French). Actually so does John Oliver (now a confirmed Hillary Whore™). Enjoyable video IMO.

Jimmy's Guest: Dave Anthony another progressive comedian. I wish Dave was his permanent guest. He's a quick wit and very well informed.

And then this happened: John Oliver GHOSTED me on YouTube when a left a comment calling his smear job a pack of lies. I guess John can dish it out but he can't take it. Regardless, there are 22,000 comments on his video, most of them calling Oliver a loser for selling out to Hillary.

Comment Ghosting (or selective invisibility) is the practice of rendering an individual comment invisible to everyone except the poster.

Maybe we should be screaming that England is Trying To Rig the US election. After all, Oliver is English, here on a work visa. Go back to England you John Bull Wanker. Hahahaha.

The entire Jon Stewart Comedy Central crew

was center right. Once again, as long as Bush held the White House, everyone, with the possible exception of Joe Lieberman, looked like a liberal. Once Obama started betraying those who voted him, who was on the left and who was on the right became more obvious.

I saw Jon Stewart challenge the Clintons and Obama never. I saw him go to their left twice: once when the Obama administration cut fuel subsidies to the poor (catching Goolsbee in a lie in the process) and once when it had to do with charter schools. (Stewart's mom was a teacher.)

I loved Stewart's brilliance and his comedy. I tried hard never to miss an installment of the Daily Show. However, in my opinion, Stewart was beyond LOTE and into center right fandom and so were his writers. He fawned on Obama and both Clintons and attacked Sanders so viciously that his normally adoring Daily Show audience protested. His replacement is even worse in that respect. And way too enamored of his own adorableness to be funny.

Our lazy embrace of Stewart and Colbert is a testament to our own impoverished comic standards. We have come to accept coy mockery as genuine subversion and snarky mimesis as originality. I started having as hard time when he was in Rick Warren's church, talking about LGBT rights can be contractual (the right to enter into contracts? whooptie frickin' do), but "when it comes to marriage, God is in the mix." I told myself he was only doing that to get elected, but my stomach turned anywawy.

When he appointed Rahm, my heart sank to my feet. I think that was a day or two after his election. By the time he was doing the dog and pony show town meetings and calling the public option a "sliver," I was done. When he appointed the cat food commission, I was out the door. After that, he did less than nothing to get me back.

that is what I came to about them, based upon my own observations. I do think it had a lot to do with the Bush years.

During those years, the left was so parched that any mockery of Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft and other Republicans seemed to come from kindred spirits. Any Democrat looked liberal and clever and we welcomed them. Then, the Obama years separated the ~~turds~~ curds from the whey. Also, it's not as though we had choices. It wasn't as though we turned away from iconoclastic social commentary comedians to Stewart, Colbert, Samantha Bee, et al.

But, Stewart is a genius. I cannot take that away from him, nor would I try. Not a liberal genius, but a genius. I can appreciate that without ignoring that he is center right.

I don't know. I can't tell if they genuinely believe in

"pragmatic liberals" or if they have sold out. Or, if they don't know different. I'm truly lousy at mindreading and fortune telling, so I don't attempt either one very often.

What a gutsy guy John Oliver is - courageously coming down on the side of more corruption, pay to play style government, endless war, continued trashing of the environment, shipping middle class jobs overseas, massive corporate welfare, etc., etc. Who knows, with any luck he might even get an invite to give a private performance at the Red Queen's inaugural ball.
