RGA Press Release:

Send these, the homeless, tempest tost to me, for economic exploitation
I lift my lamp beside the golden door, but no warning shots because castle doctrine.

The esteemed Governor McCrory, North Carolina, joined the chorus. He will not allow Syrian refugees, because his duty is to keep North Carolinians safe.

I wonder what he was thinking when he signed the ALEC guns anywhere bill. House Bill 937, which became effective on October 1, 2013, expanded North Carolina’s concealed handgun law into restaurants where alcohol is sold and consumed, assemblies of people for which admission is charged, parades and funerals, state and municipal parks, and educational properties.

Maybe it was the good guy with a gun meme.

Pro-gun group in Texas re-enacts Charlie Hebdo attacks with paintball rounds

A pro-gun rights group in Texas re-enacted the Charlie Hebdo attacks with paintball rounds, in an attempt to see whether an “armed civilian” could have stopped the two gunmen who attacked the Paris office of the satirical magazine, killing 12. The civilian “died” in almost every scenario except immediate flight from the scene.

I wonder what McCrory was thinking while he ran interference for Duke Energy. Wouldn't the people of NC be safer with clean water?

Is Chris Christie a big mouth blowhard and pearl clutching chicken or what?

Sometimes I feel like hopping in the car, driving to one of these governor's and smack some sense into them. What the f'k is wrong with Chris Christie?

Oh and Mike Pence, what can I say? It is difficult to articulate without resorting to coarseness.

Nobody could convince me that the government spying did not know about the Koch spying. Which in turn leads to, we live in a fascist country, otherwise Koch operatives would be going to trial and jail.

The Koch intelligence agency

The political network helmed by Charles and David Koch has quietly built a secretive operation that conducts surveillance and intelligence gathering on its liberal opponents, viewing it as a key strategic tool in its efforts to reshape American public life.

The operation, which is little-known even within the Koch network, gathers what Koch insiders refer to as “competitive intelligence” that is used to try to thwart liberal groups and activists, and to identify potential threats to the expansive network.

The competitive intelligence team has a staff of 25, including one former CIA analyst, and operates from one of the non-descript Koch network offices clustered near the Courthouse metro stop in suburban Arlington, Va. It has provided network officials with documents detailing confidential voter-mobilization plans by major Democrat-aligned groups. It also sends regular “intelligence briefing” emails tracking the canvassing, phone-banking and voter-registration efforts of labor unions, environmental groups and their allies, according to documents reviewed by POLITICO and interviews with a half-dozen sources with knowledge of the group.

Just what the country needs.

Like His Dad, Charles Koch Was a Bircher

Today, as announced on Amy Goodman's DemocracyNow!, the Progressive Inc. and the Center for Media and Democracy are publishing new information and analysis documenting that billionaire oil industrialist Charles Koch was an active member of the controversial right-wing John Birch Society during its active campaigns against the civil rights movement.

Many commentators have noted that the father of the controversial Koch Brothers, Fred Koch, was a leader of the John Birch Society from its founding in 1958 until his death in 1967. But, in fact, Charles Koch followed his father's footsteps into the John Birch Society for years in Wichita, Kansas, a hub city for the organization in that decade of tremendous societal unrest as civil rights activists challenged racial segregation.

Charles Koch was not simply a rank and file member of the John Birch Society in name only who paid nominal dues. He purchased and held a "lifetime membership" until he resigned in 1968. He also lent his name and his wealth to the operations of the John Birch Society in Wichita, aiding its "American Opinion" bookstore -- which was stocked with attacks on the civil rights movement, Martin Luther King, and Earl Warren as elements of the communist conspiracy. He funded the John Birch Society's promotional campaigns, bought advertising in its magazine, and supported its distribution of right-wing radio shows.

A PEOPLE’S HISTORY OF KOCH INDUSTRIES: HOW STALIN FUNDED THE TEA PARTY MOVEMENT

Everyone knows that Tea Party revolutionaries fear and hate socialism about as much as the Antichrist. Which is funny, because the Tea Party movement’s dirty little secret is that it owes its existence to the grandaddy of all Antichrists: the godless empire of the USSR.

What few realize is that the secretive oil billionaires of the Koch family, the main supporters of the right-wing groups that orchestrated the Tea Party movement, would not have the means to bankroll their favorite causes had it not been for the pile of money the family made working for the Bolsheviks in the late 1920s and early 1930s, building refineries, training Communist engineers and laying down the foundation of Soviet oil infrastructure.

The comrades were good to the Kochs. Today Koch Industries has grown into the second-largest private company in America. With an annual revenue of $100 billion, the company was just $6.3 billion shy of first place in 2008. Ownership is kept strictly in the family, with the company being split roughly between right-wing brothers Charles and David Koch, who are worth about $20 billion apiece and are infamous as the largest sponsors of right-wing causes. They bankroll scores of free-market and libertarian think tanks, institutes and advocacy groups. Reason magazine, Heritage Foundation and Cato Institute are just a few of Koch-backed free-market operations. Greenpeace estimates that the Koch family shelled out $25 million from 2005 to 2008 funding the “climate denial machine,” which means they outspent Exxon Mobile three to one.

No worries, they won't burn in hell. We will all fry in place.

What a funked up world we live in.

Stay strong brothers and sisters.

Over and out.

The sharp rise in Xenophobia and racism in the United States is very disturbing. I had been hoping that this country would finally grow up, but we seem to be regressing and doing so very rapidly.

On a positive note, I had something unique happen to me yesterday. I was out shopping and as I got out of my car, a monarch butterfly landed on my hand and it just stayed there. A lady who was walking by said it was good luck. A friend of mine said it was a sign from someone I loved, probably my recently deceased father. Whatever it was, it was a small symbol of beauty in what has become an ever increasingly ugly world that we have allowed ourselves to become.

I did a little research on monarch butterflies and found something very interesting. Each year, three generations hatch from the pupae and become monarch butterflies, only to live for a few weeks. In September and October, the fourth generation hatches and that is the one that flies to Mexico and Central America.

I still thought it highly unusual to see one here in the lower mountains of western NC so late in the year, especially since we have had at least two night of freezing temps recently. I am happy to see that researchers think their numbers are rebounding. We should closer pay attention to all of life's creatures as they are harbingers of what is to come, especially with climate change upon us.

There is a great amount of arrogance among peoples of the western world and Americans in particular that we can somehow "engineer" our way out of climate change without making major adjustments in our consumptive lifestyle.

At the debate, she lied to diminish Bernie’s position

OCTOBER 13, 2015: Clinton At The Democrat Primary Debate: CLINTON: "Well, I recall very well being on a debate stage, I think, about 25 times with then Senator Obama, debating this very issue. After the election, he asked me to become Secretary of State. He valued my judgment, and I spent a lot of time with him in the Situation Room, going over some very difficult issues. You know, I - I agree completely. We don't want American troops on the ground in Syria. I never said that. What I said was we had to put together a coalition - in fact, something that I worked on before I left the State Department - to do, and yes, that it should include Arabs, people in the region." (Hillary Clinton, Democrat Primary Debate, Las Vegas, NV, 10/13/15)

Triangulating, triangulating………….

OCTOBER 30, 2015: Clinton through a spokesman. "Hillary Rodham Clinton supports the decision by President Barack Obama to deploy a small number of special operations forces to northern Syria to work with local ground forces in the fight against Islamic State militants. Campaign spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement that Clinton "sees merit in the targeted use of special operations personnel.' He added that Clinton also strongly 'supports ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.'" (Lisa Lerer, "Clinton Backs Decision To Send US Commandos Into Syria," The Associated Press, 10/30/15)

Flip - flop.

NOVEMBER 19, 2015: Council on Foreign Relations “A more effective air campaign is necessary, but not sufficient,” Clinton said. “We should be honest that to be successful, airstrikes will have to be combined with ground forces” to take back the territory that Islamic State, also known as ISIS or ISIL, has conquered in Syria and Iraq. Clinton's speech laid out a significantly more active approach toward combating Islamic State than President Obama has been willing to accept, a view she shied away from last weekend during the latest Democratic candidates' debate. LA Times, November 20, 2015

To be honest, lmao – she can’t even spell the word.

Thanks again dkmich for the heads up about the good souls here I've been missing, in Tasini's diary about the SIEU fiasco going on.

My opinion is that BBB is the one of the worst of the worst. He's exhibit A of the hijacking of the place by neoliberal corporate jackbooters/slavish defenders of the status quo. I feel it's incumbent to go at his ilk, but especially him whenever possible. His moniker is completely laughable too, and told him so. That he wouldn't last a a few minutes on a street corner deep in Bklyn spouting his neoliberal gibberish in the presence of folks who live under the chronic oppression of the vampire squid's omnipresent control of their lives. He's the embodiment of everything wrong with the place.

I'm researching the Freedom Budget for All Americans, a plan by Martin Luther King and his mostly socialist team to call attention to economic inequality in the fight for racial justice.

How does one resize?

How goes it? Good and meh. I've got my hands full taking care of Sweetie. Not being able to talk is really tough. We went to an ALS conference and a neurologist gave a presentation with a bunch of graphs charting medications, symptoms, a classification method and life expectancy. All the graphs were basically 'S' curves where things start out slowly, degenerate rapidly and then slowing down until the patient's demise. The best I could tell Sweetie is approaching the lower curve and would be classified as "Late Stages". We have an appointment schedule for a feeding tube consult.

Friends and neighbors have been great. The other day, I went out to get the newspaper and someone had mowed my grass. Thing2's coworkers, from the YMCA summer camp, came by and all the kids had done a scrapbook with pictures of them and Thing2. Each kids page included a gift card to a restaurant or grocery store. The kids are alright.

The wrist is still gimpy, but I have managed to work out at least twice a week. I am down from 200# to 180# which is a good thing. I started having a dream where I am crossing a busy street, but I can't make my feet go. I daydream about a post caregiver road trip.

Believe it or not, we listen to music all day.

I hardly played from 1986 until late 1995. I had no intention of performing again. In 1995 I started writing again but not doing anything with it, just entertaining myself. Then I found myself playing with some people on our block, then accidentally found myself in a trio, etc.

I posted this comment in BBBs diary. It has 20+ recs and 2 HRs. It says, "I’ll be the first to admit that Bernie isn’t a polished candidate, but at least he isn’t a liar. I’ll take someone I can trust over someone I can’t trust any day. I love that you went into BBBs history and pulled that out. I am going to copy and paste it into every BBB diary and Clinton diary on this b;og. The same people who are hailing Hillary as Joan of Arc are the same people who ripped her to shreds in 08. They must think what they put on the internet disappears….rof… "

If you check my comments, I have one flag here, one there. At first, I paid no attention. Now, I am starting to feel stalked and a little creeped out. Not knowing who is doing this is like having a peeping Tom that you know is there, but you can't see them. As a woman, I feel exposed, vulnerable, and violated. I really could have a stalker, and how would I know? In the old system, you knew who and why. I reported my unease with the hidden flags to the help desk, like that's going to do any good. I asked them if they are monitoring the people who are throwing up the flags. This is creeping me out.

According to the reasoning there from the Hillary supporters, she might have been morally unfit and a potential psychopathic killer of political opponents in 2007/2008 but the person they're voting for is the brand new Hillary who's existed only since 2009. A shiny newcomer!

This is similar to the idea of not prosecuting Bush or members of his administration because we have to look forward and not backward. Do not think about what you just heard or saw. It's over, in the past.

Not to mention the immorality and vicious cruelty exhibited to humans globally and here in der Homeland. What you win means nothing it all, it's only about beating the RW even if what the Democrat's offer is the same damn thing. Oh yeah I forgot the Dems. won't give you a vagina probe along with your austerity.

However when push comes to shove they will compromise away your reproductive rights as well as the rest of your civil and human rights and then they tell you it's a 'victory for compromise'. For that type of person, it's all about whether words trigger the desired reaction in people hearing or reading them.

To them it's unimportant whether what they say is true, as long as it has the desired effect in the moment.

They think it is hard-headed and realistic to focus solely on appearances, manipulation, and mass psychology / group dynamics.

Worrying about truth is, for them, something only suckers do.

"He’s a complete fraud.

His pathetic posturing as interference-runner for the Economic Terrorists of Wall St (where he was formerly employed as I understand it) is exhibit A in how Daily Kos has been hijacked by little neoliberal defenders of status quo politics.

The progressive nature of this place has been white-washed away by corporate, free market drivel like his, and exactly the reason why the Dems get their asses kicked in all midterms and local races (and for sure in the presidential if they trot out a highly polarizing, career insider). The Dem party and Daily Kos, with lackeys like BBB, has firmly laid claim to the “look how bad they suck, vote for us” strategy. It’s a dead end.

It’s literally staggering to see how deaf, dumb and blind so much of this place has become, to not see we have a legitimate chance to not do politics as usual. It’s obvious the American people have reached a tipping point in their disgust with insider politicians. And what’s our strategy? “C’mon, we suck less; don’t we?”

Progressivism, liberalism, economic equality and egalitarianism have been jettisoned from the core of the Democratic party. We’ve allowed snickering bankster protectorates to be the face of the place.

And the message is: it’s all about “playing the game” and raising money; activists, organizers, unions, protest movements, are only to be pacified during election campaigns; the wealthy and powerful elite are “job creators” and to be worshipped; we’ll pay lip service to racial equality and police brutality but do nothing because to get elected we’ll still have to be seen as “tough on crime” (see the Clintons on the 3 Strikes Law and stripping welfare assistance), we won’t dare talk of holding accountable and prosecuting if necessary our Wall St campaign donors whose exponential damaging of the economy has resulted in a too numerous to mention avalanche of privations visited upon the vast majority of the middle class, including artificially inflated housing bubble of skyrocketing rents and home prices, increased corporate profits while wages plummet, healthcare costs spiraling out of control, depletion of resources by monopoly energy companies, etc etc etc.

We’ve completely abandoned our principles, with the hope of getting rich quick."

reading book mentioned a couple of days ago in a comment here about CIA program to drug cultural figures with LSD and other drugs to get people away from politics "Drugs as a weapon against us" and lots about 60's 70's etc and a reminder to the hippies and music culture that the CIA hijacked

so when saw Bernie video realize how he was in the middle of anti war and integration efforts

found some other videos on the web where he was pushing back on our Nicaragua overthrow orchestrated during Reagan administration. He was pressuring a reporter to say that only given negative coverage and called a communist (the leader)That was fairly far out when he did it.

Then I looked up Nicaragua v. The United States of America

The Republic of Nicaragua v. The United States of America (1986) ICJ 1 is a public international law case decided by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The ICJ ruled in favor of Nicaragua and against the United States and awarded reparations to Nicaragua. The ICJ held that the U.S. had violated international law by supporting the Contras in their rebellion against the Nicaraguan government and by mining Nicaragua's harbors. The United States refused to participate in the proceedings after the Court rejected its argument that the ICJ lacked jurisdiction to hear the case. The U.S. later blocked enforcement of the judgment by the United Nations Security Council and thereby prevented Nicaragua from obtaining any actual compensation.[2] The Nicaraguan government finally withdrew the complaint from the court in September 1992 (under the later, post-FSLN, government of Violeta Chamorro), following a repeal of the law requiring the country to seek compensation.[3]
The Court found in its verdict that the United States was "in breach of its obligations under customary international law not to use force against another State", "not to intervene in its affairs", "not to violate its sovereignty", "not to interrupt peaceful maritime commerce", and "in breach of its obligations under Article XIX of the Treaty of Friendship, Commerce and Navigation between the Parties signed at Managua on 21 January 1956."
The Court had 16 final decisions upon which it voted. In Statement 9, the Court stated that while the U.S. encouraged human rights violations by the Contras by the manual entitled Psychological Operations in Guerrilla Warfare, this did not, however, make such acts attributable to the U.S.[4]

It was very enlightening to hear her first hand version of what the US and their Contra's were up to. The murky propaganda story's that people in the US believe amaze me. I find it interesting that the France was branded a traitor country in the Bushies regime. French Fries! Didn't France under Sarközy loom large in the destruction of Libya? I don't believe a damn thing any of the Ministry of Fear and the global and local pols of mass deception spout anywhere. At least in Viet Nam there were actual reporters, writers, artists and photographers that bravely told another story. We even had 'candidates' and leaders like MLK who stood up and spoke some truths. The most prominent were assassinated but a lot of people did not march to the tune of the mad killers. Nowadays their is no resistance anywhere to the genocidal call to arms. Corbyn who is somewhat sane is ridiculed and the establishment media tells a dubious tale that does not pass the smell test. CT has been stood on it's head, and flipped to be the truth. So what happened to Bernie did they put a horses head in his bed? He really does march along with the MIC and the bloody spooks.

Watching Bernie here in 1988 is pure validation of why is so worth fighting for. And so eerily prescient about himself, when he's speaking about "the extraordinarily courageous campaign of Jesse Jackson...taking on the whole world...with no money." Goosebumps.

Just feel in love again with this sharp and impassioned, and fierce, socialist. His insights on the media are so clear-headed and fearless. I'm reminded of those two instructive Newsroom clips that went viral, one in which the news editor is on a college panel and reels off all the reasons America is not the greatest country in the world and the other, which is a editorial board meeting in which they discuss CNBC's tactics to get a viewer to think something by manipulating angels and selecting certain video/photos to fly in during an interview. Bernie by his lonesome self is doing just as much in this speech here.

Pretty incredible.

and not just the people in the news but the so called 'news' tellers, personalities themselves. It's a well known democratic tradition to give the authority raspberry's and profanity. It disturbs me a lot that so called Democrat's insist on respect for the corrupt and rotten pols and the party. You must respect the office, gender and race of those in authority who are Democratic. A good dose or ridicule, disrespect and scorn for this farce of democracy is healthy. The demands for party loyalty bs. is really insane, my god it's as crazy as the fundies and as blindly authoritarian. So fuck'em if they can't take a joke. As you can see I've had enough of this supporting and respecting the madness these evil fucks are unleashing on the world and my country.

of folks. Christy? Fat bag of shit blowhard, so we're on the same page there. With Cruz I just let it fly, in much the same manner as my father did in traffic, and believe me, I was trained by the best in that respect. My only regret is that we no longer have tube teevees to punctuate my string of profanity with by lobbing a flip-flop at. A crumpled napkin flung at a flatscreen just doesn't produce that same satisfying "thunk" sound.

They need to get real and report it straight. Things like, "Why is Santorum running the same grift? He is unelectable and most of the electorate would rather have a sharp stick in the eye than vote for him." "Huckabee is a pandering putz, whose elevator doesn't go to the top." "What the fuck Texas? Ted Cruz, I mean really, you people are idiots." "Wisconsin, you people are stupidier than Texas. That Walker guy is a punk and a criminal." "Here we go again New Jersey." "WTF, North Carolina."

OBTW, North Carolina:

The Dark Money of Dallas Woodhouse

Dallas Woodhouse was selected by the NCGOP last weekend as its new executive director. He's also the founder and director of a 501(c)4 outfit which he calls Carolina Rising. Investigative researcher Greg Flynn did a little digging into that "dark money" closet, and we quote Greg at length:
A recent sliver of sunlight reveals slightly more about the dark money group Carolina Rising than previously known. The 501(c)4 organization led by Dallas Woodhouse filed its first tax return, for the 2014 tax year, on August 12th. The return shows income of $4,880,000 and expenses of $4,799,344 for the period beginning March 25, 2014 and ending December 31, 2014. The bulk of expense payments was $4,654,645 to Crossroads Media, LLC, in Alexandria VA, for TV and cable ads. The revenue came in donations from two unnamed contributors, one in the amount of $4,820,000 and another in the amount of $60,000.
The document lists 3 Raleigh based officers: Dallas Woodhouse as President and Treasurer, his father-in-law Duane Ischer as Director (listed elsewhere as Secretary), and environmental engineer Todd Brozell, another Director. No salary was paid directly to Woodhouse but $72,000 was paid to his wholly owned company Solutions NC, Inc., for management services.

Woodhouse has consistently declined to name Carolina Rising’s donors. The existence of just two donors in the IRS filing is in contrast to statements Woodhouse made to the Center for Public Integrity in November 2014 when it profiled the group’s election year spending.

“Woodhouse did say Carolina Rising is funded by multiple donors. 'we have a large, diverse donor body that we have brought into this mission of helping the Republicans tell their story in North Carolina.' “

Crossroads GPS funded Carolina Rising

Crossroads GPS, the powerful nonprofit corporation founded by Republican strategists Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie, bankrolled most of the money that Carolina Rising spent on TV ads that helped Thom Tillis defeat Kay Hagan for U.S. Senate last year.

Open Secrets, which is part of the Center for Responsive Politics, and two other watchdog groups, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington and the Center for Public Integrity, previously reported that records showed Carolina Rising received nearly all of its funding from a single donor. Newly available tax records show the donor was Crossroads GPS.

Carolina Rising was formed as a tax-exempt social welfare organization by political operative Dallas Woodhouse, who is now the executive director of the N.C. Republican Party. It spent 97 percent of its money — nearly $5 million — on TV ads that benefitted Tillis, CREW had reported.

The latest records show Crossroads GPS provided 98.7 percent of Carolina Rising’s funds. More than half of Crossroads GPS’ money came from three donors that gave at least $10 million each. One of the anonymous donors contributed $20 million.

North Carolina's dark money trail goes national

Whenever North Carolina politics winds up in the New York Times, it's a good thing, right? Ugh.

Here's a fascinating read in the op-ed pages of today's Times. The piece, written by the Center for Responsive Politics' Robert Maguire, questions how the IRS will respond to a recent tax filing from Carolina Rising, a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization that is not supposed to spend a majority of their cash on political activity and aren't allowed to function to benefit one candidate or group.

Carolina Rising, however, did spend $4.7 million on ads in 2014, the filing shows, most praising the work of then N.C. House Speaker Thom Tillis, who was running for the U.S. Senate against Democrat Kay Hagan. Tillis, of course, won.

Political nonprofit spent nearly 100 percent of funds to elect Tillis in ’14

A social welfare group called Carolina Rising spent 97 percent of the money it raised in the 2014 midterm elections — nearly $5 million — running ads that helped Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) defeat the incumbent Democrat that cycle.

The group, formed by political operative Dallas Woodhouse in late March 2014, did virtually nothing else. Its first tax filing, obtained by the Center for Responsive Politics, shows that the organization raised nearly $4.9 million in its first year — $4.8 million of it from a single donor; nearly all of that went out the door to a prominent political media firm in Virginia for ads mentioning Tillis, while the rest was spent on payments to an LLC started by Woodhouse only months earlier.

A New Low in Campaign Finance

ONE corner of the world of “dark money” just got a little brighter, and it doesn’t bode well for the 2016 election.

A recent tax filing by Carolina Rising, a 501(c)(4) social welfare organization, shows that in 2014 the group spent $4.7 million on ads that had one thing in common: touting the legislative accomplishments of Thom Tillis, who was then North Carolina’s speaker of the House. That year, Mr. Tillis also happened to be trying to unseat Kay Hagan, the incumbent Democratic senator.

Carolina Rising spent the money in a three-month blitz leading up to Election Day, but we may never learn where these millions came from. The partial disclosure required of 501(c)(4) outfits means that while we do know that 98.7 percent of the group’s revenue came from a single donor and that virtually every penny of it was used to further the cause of Mr. Tillis’s campaign, we don’t know who Carolina Rising’s secret benefactor was.

John Koskinen, the I.R.S. commissioner, is scheduled to testify today before the Senate Finance Committee at yet another hearing on the agency’s heightened scrutiny of certain politically active 501(c)(4) groups in 2010-12. But what we should really be paying attention to is the increasing use of dark money to influence our elections, and the rising number of groups that devote themselves to a single candidate (including several, already, in this cycle’s presidential campaign). Before the 2014 campaign, nonprofits like that didn’t exist.

The paper, Israel Hayom, is given away free and has become the widest circulation paper in Israel.

For Adelson, the tremendous global political leverage this gives him is well worth the money he pours into the project.

Another subject: Democrats make fun of Trump, but short-sightedly act as if the "1% of the 1% of the 1%" pyramid stops at Trump or Adelson or the Koch brothers. In reality the peak of the mountain continues up into the international realm, encompassing ruling and banking clans in a system whose roots reach back to the Middle Ages.

People need to understand that the Saudi king and other Gulf potentates are every bit as witless as Trump and other GOP candidates. Each is a blend of Mafia don and clown who, propped up by the West, gets to run a slice of Arabia as his personal fief.

Free people everywhere ought to be mocking these tyrants, denouncing their depraved policies, and standing up for democracy in the areas they control.

Instead we allow our political leaders and opinion makers to bow down to them and abet their crimes.

I can embed some things directly but not Democracy Now and other media news sites. What I do is go to you tube and find the video I'm trying to embed and then use their embed which works. I have tried in vain to use the embedding functions on Democracy Now or Comedy Central or even Rolling Stone but they do not work. Try directly embedding with cut and pasting the http// unit? in the text body instead of the insert video box. Cut and paste a link is about all I can do on some videos that are not via You Tube. As you can see I'm kind of technically impaired, so I always look for the easiest run around. Love your sig line mimi.

I don't understand why it doesn't work for you. I do the exact same procedure that you cite above and the video previews and plays just fine.

Do you run a script blocking extension in your browser, like Noscript, because I have to allow Democracy Now.com and jwpcdn.com in NoScript or the video doesn't display.

The videos display just fine here so if you can't embed them then the problem is in your end. Something in your browser settings is blocking one or both of the two sites I mention, that would be my educated guess.
