Can't we just drone this guy?

Under Intense Pressure to Silence Wikileaks, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Proposed Drone Strike on Julian Assange
Back in 2010, the Obama administration was pressuring Clinton's State Department to do something about their little problem called Julian Assange and Wikileaks.

Clinton’s State Department was getting pressure from President Obama and his White House inner circle, as well as heads of state internationally, to try and cutoff Assange’s delivery of the cables and if that effort failed, then to forge a strategy to minimize the administration’s public embarrassment over the contents of the cables. Hence, Clinton’s early morning November meeting of State’s top brass who floated various proposals to stop, slow or spin the Wikileaks contamination. That is when a frustrated Clinton, sources said, at some point blurted out a controversial query.

“Can’t we just drone this guy?” Clinton openly inquired, offering a simple remedy to silence Assange and smother Wikileaks via a planned military drone strike, according to State Department sources. The statement drew laughter from the room which quickly died off when the Secretary kept talking in a terse manner, sources said. Clinton said Assange, after all, was a relatively soft target, “walking around” freely and thumbing his nose without any fear of reprisals from the United States. Clinton was upset about Assange’s previous 2010 records releases, divulging secret U.S. documents about the war in Afghanistan in July and the war in Iraq just a month earlier in October, sources said. At that time in 2010, Assange was relatively free and not living cloistered in in the embassy of Ecuador in London. Prior to 2010, Assange focused Wikileaks’ efforts on countries outside the United States but now under Clinton and Obama, Assange was hammering America with an unparalleled third sweeping Wikileaks document dump in five months. Clinton was fuming, sources said, as each State Department cable dispatched during the Obama administration was signed by her.

If it's no big deal to call a rain of hell from the sky on Assange then why not a whistle-blower that leaks to wikileaks? Why not an activist against a pipeline? I think an important question we should be asking is "Who would Secretary Clinton not drone?"

Update: It's been pointed out that my link is a pretty iffy source so I'm saying read with a grain of caution. If anyone has corroborating links to the statement by Sec Clinton I would appreciate it.
Update 2: Thanks to Amanda Mathews for pointing out that wikileaks is acknowledging:

this is a Assange teaser. Maybe he'll release a video or email with this in it. I would love to see "progressive, against the death penalty, due process," clinton supporters twist themselves in a knot trying to explain this away. Standard response - "wwwaaaa, she was just kidding! it's her lethal quirky sense of humor, like that Gaddafi thing!"

The first thing that jumped out was this.

To understand the 2015 deletions, we have to start further back in time, in June 2013. Clinton had ended her four-year tenure as secretary of state earlier in 2013, and she hired the Platte River Networks (PRN) computer company to manage her private email server. This was a puzzling hire, to say the least, because PRN was based in Denver, Colorado, far from Clinton’s homes in New York and Washington, DC, and the company was so small that their office was actually an apartment in an ordinary apartment building with no security alarm system. The company wasn’t cleared to handle classified information, nobody in it had a security clearance, and it hadn’t even handled an important out of state contract before.

Nobody had security clearance
She was supposed to have turned over her emails after her term as sos ended, but no one bothered to see if she had done so until the information of her private server came up in the Benghazi hearings?
Whose job is it to see that people turn over the emails?
But I think that the republicans are playing games again because they have the authority to bring impeachment proceedings against her or charge her with perjury. Instead they are asking the FBI and the DOJ to look into it even though they have already shown that they aren't going to charge her for anything?

Secretary of State
FBI agreed to destroy laptops of Clinton aides with immunity deal, lawmaker says
Published October 03, 2016
FoxNews.com

Immunity deals for two top Hillary Clinton aides included a side arrangement obliging the FBI to destroy their laptops after reviewing the devices, House Judiciary Committee sources told Fox News on Monday.

Sources said the arrangement with former Clinton chief of staff Cheryl Mills and ex-campaign staffer Heather Samuelson also limited the search to no later than Jan. 31, 2015. This meant investigators could not review documents for the period after the email server became public -- in turn preventing the bureau from discovering if there was any evidence of obstruction of justice, sources said.

The Republican chairman of the House Judiciary Committee fired off a letter Monday to Attorney General Loretta Lynch asking why the DOJ and FBI agreed to the restrictive terms, including that the FBI would destroy the laptops after finishing the search. ...

DOJ 'side agreements' let agents destroy laptops in Clinton email case
Sarah Westwood(@sarahcwestwood)•10/3/16 1:05 PM

House Republicans are demanding to know why Justice Department officials entered into a pair of "side agreement" with Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson — two of Hillary Clinton's top former aides who went on to become her personal attorneys during the FBI's email investigation — that allowed law enforcement agents to destroy their laptops after searching their hard drives for evidence.

In a letter from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte to Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Monday, Goodlatte questioned why the destruction of the laptops used to sort Clinton's emails was included in immunity deals that already protected Mills and Samuelson from prosecution based on the records recovered from their computers. ...

Anyone supporting the Clintons has to have either such a defeatist or a criminal, pathological and very short-sighted worldview...

While not employed by Clinton or holding any formal position within the Democratic Party, Beckel, as a former State Dept. official and campaign manager for Walter Mondale's 1984 presidential campaign, was someone who certainly reflected the general mindset of the Democratic Party establishment. Here's what he had to say in December of 2010:

Sources said Clinton’s comments on neutralizing Assange fits a pattern of callousness when combined with the FBI testimony that she often considered droning individuals and then coupled with her reaction to Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi’s death in Oct. 2011.

Gaddafi was tortured and killed, largely due to Clinton’s maneuvering in the Middle East and Libya. During a sit down interview with CBS News, a Clinton aide notified the room during a taping break of news reports that Gaddafi had been dragged throughout the streets of Libya and ultimately killed. Unaware the camera was still rolling, a jovial and proud Clinton pronounced: “We came. We saw. He died.” This was Clinton’s initial response to the dictator’s demise. A cackling Clinton was then joined in laughter by the CBS correspondent and off-camera aides and staff. Again, more proof of a disturbing habit of treating human life as a disposable commodity like a soiled diaper.

She doesn't care how many innocent people including children she directly or indirectly kills. From welfare reform that saw millions of people go deeper into poverty to the countless deaths because of her actions during her time as SOS.
IMO, she has some type of personality disorder and isn't fit to be president.

I totally agree with your assessment of Clinton. I would not put anything past the Clintons, Hillary in particular.

She doesn't care how many innocent people including children she directly or indirectly kills. From welfare reform that saw millions of people go deeper into poverty to the countless deaths because of her actions during her time as SOS. IMO, she has some type of personality disorder and isn't fit to be president.

I keep going back to her statement about juvenile offenders when she used racially coded words that dehumanized them.

“They are not just gangs of kids anymore. They are often the kinds of kids that are called ‘super-predators.’ No conscience, no empathy. We can talk about why they ended that way, but first we have bring them to heel.”

It showed a total lack of humanity on her part. She decided to throw away people whom she views as "super predators." She talks about them having a lack of empathy while totally demonstrating her own lack of empathy. She spoke of them as if they were wild dogs that must be brought to heel. She also spoke in terms of not trying to solve the problem of juvenile offenders, but more of simply seeking punishment. This is very much the Calvinistic approach that the meritocracy has toward everyone they view beneath themselves.

In that brief paragraph, there is so much telling in it about Hillary Clinton, not about juvenile offenders. She has shown exactly the kind of person she is and that is picture of a very uncaring person who sees punishment or revenge as the solution to a problem. Not a pretty picture at all.

Look at her face in the video that dammit Janet posted above
Added to what you wrote about the 'super predators' there's also what she said about people on welfare. I don't remember what she said, but it was shades of Reagan.

I thought she had just watched a video about Gaddafi being killed when she said what she did, not what I quoted in my comment.
But anyone who could react that way after watching a brutal murder has got to have some type of mental disorder.

I don't think there's many people in our government who gives a damn about how many innocent people they kill when they authorize military interventions, continue to fund them or sell weapons to countries like Saudi Arabia including cluster bombs, white phosphorus and helps them with their war crimes against the Yemen people.m
The United States used bombs with depleted uranium in them on fallujah and the number of birth defects is staggering.
The CIA gave Obama's moderate terrorists sarin nerve gas to use on the Syrian people in order for Obama to have an excuse to overthrow Assad not to protect the Syrian people, but so our allies to get their hands on the resources after Assad turned them down.
These people have to be sociopathic or have some other mental instability to continue to do these actions for the whole time they are in office.
Then there's what they do to the poor, elderly and disabled people in this country.

Clinton cut off any attempts by the Gaddafil to negotiate some settlements even those by the Pentagon. She basically ensured that the country would be bombed and left in ruins by stopping any attempt by Gaddafil to talk. When you think about this, she actions are insane. She was supposed to be lead person in our government in negotiating and talking deals with states. Rather she acted more as the director of the CIA and head of the Pentagon.

http://www.salon.com/2016/03/02/even_critics_understate_how_catastrophic...

Little-discussed secret audio recordings released in early 2015 reveal how top Pentagon officials, and even one of the most progressive Democrats in Congress, were so wary of Clinton’s warmongering that they corresponded with the regime of Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi in hopes of pursuing some form of diplomacy.

Qaddafi’s son Seif wanted to negotiate a ceasefire with the U.S. government, opening up communications with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Clinton later intervened and asked the Pentagon to stop talking to the Qaddafi regime.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich wrote a letter to Clinton and Obama in August 2011, warning against the war. “I have been contacted by an intermediary in Libya who has indicated that President Muammar Gadhafi is willing to negotiate an end to the conflict under conditions which would seem to favor Administration policy,” the Democratic lawmaker said. His plea was ignored.

A Pentagon intelligence official told Seif Qaddafi that his messages were falling on deaf ears. “Everything I am getting from the State Department is that they do not care about being part of this,” he explained.

“Secretary Clinton does not want to negotiate at all,” the U.S. intelligence official added.

[Oops. I was trying to link this to Snoopydawg, not the essay. Sorry.]

Wedding parties are the perfect target for a people you are trying to terrorize. It incites complete surrender. (Once is an accident; 50 times is a strategy.)

Just like double taps are a specific tactic. That's when one drone splats the target and a second done hits family, care givers, and bystanders who rush in to help. It is the ideal technique for terrorizing a people into surrender.

It takes a special kind of sociopathic sonovabitch to give that order, but that's what you have in Hillary.

Her's is the type of personality disorder that Americans vote for. Same with Obama. We already knew Bush the Lesser was the most murderous governor in US history. (This does show up on brain scans, btw.)

At some point we come to the conclusion that the people always get exactly what they vote for. And that is okay. Maybe it can be accepted as the way it is in the US. I believe that a lot of this is tied to the national gestalt of a genocide nation. It's going to circle that drain until it is redressed.

Individuals each have free will. But the people, not so much.

And even with all of the evidence that shows that Hillary is a warmonger, her supporters refuse to acknowledge it.
So many members of DK supported Obama's invasion of Libya because they believed his lies that Gaddafi was murdering his citizens.
Gaddafi wasn't a good guy, but up to the time of the invasion he was working with the US on the war on terror. His mistake was the same mistake all of the US' puppet dictators made. They didn't keep following the rules on monetary policy.
As you mentioned, the drones, weddings, double taps and his kill list and 3 extrajudicial executions of Americans were accepted by his and her supporters.
I know that if it was McCain doing those things then those people would say it's a war crime.
This is what I can't wrap my head around on his and hers supporters.

The argument that "the people always get exactly what they vote for" is an outrageous statement in the face of, among other things, blatant election fraud.

You and others keep basically asserting that the problem here is primarily one of cultural identity (aka "America is genocidal"), rather than of a takeover by a group of very wealthy individuals who were horribly taken aback in the late 60s and early 70s to see that America was not what they wanted it to be:

http://reclaimdemocracy.org/powell_memo_lewis/

Interestingly, that puts you in agreement with Lewis Powell: you both think that "the American system" is the system Powell served: a racist corporatocracy.

But the entire existence of the Powell memo and the subsequent counter-revolution its adherents engineered here proves that this isn't about "America" "American culture" or "Americans." If it were, Powell wouldn't have needed a fucking memo--the whole reason it was written is that the guys at the Chamber of Commerce were shocked to their core that too much of "America" was refusing to support their policy positions. And the politicians were, in many cases, listening to the people because they feared losing their jobs--and back then, voters could actually end a politician's career.

The fact that representative democracy was working even in a limited fashion to oppose the will of the rich and powerful so shocked and horrified them that they decided to trash democracy. As Powell himself put it, "What I don't understand is why we put up with all this." "We" being the wealthiest few and their public servants, "all this" being the people's movements that were inconveniencing them.

So they engineered a fantastic counter-revolution, which was extremely well-planned and well-funded, and which the American people alternately either fell for (Reagan supporters) or had no idea how to fight (almost everybody else). Well, there were also the people who were just tired of looking at the pile of garbage and decided to do coke or engage in psychological or spiritual navel-gazing because politics are so yesterday.

This history, which culminated in the election fraud of 2000 and 2004, mainly because even a good propaganda plan can't work forever, gets completely lost every time somebody makes the argument "Well, America's always been a cesspool." That argument survives because, of course, there was always plenty of evil here. The existence of evil: racist evil, genocidal evil--does not automatically lead to ignoring specific history, just as knowing about the Powell memo and the counter-revolution does not automatically lead to ignoring racist genocide. It's a false binary. One bit of evidence that it's false: guess what one of the things spurring the panic at the Chamber of Commerce was? The Civil Rights Act. The idea that they might have to start paying Black people equally to whites. The other, apparently, was the new environmental legislation, and the idea that they might have to pay to clean up their messes. Where did this legislation come from? Politicians feeling they had to (in many cases, grudgingly) kowtow to a bunch of angry, organized people, offering at least enough reforms to temporarily shut them up.

So K street needed to be invented, and after that, a police state and the concurrent state of endless war.

"America" is many, many things.

If it were simple, like I said, Lewis Powell and his cronies (and their descendants) would never have bothered spending millions--by now billions--on corrupting the government.

I hope you repeat it when more people will see it. I think most of what Pluto posts rocks the house--but this is a disagreement that's fairly common on the left. It's really easy to look at a culture that committed genocide and managed to actually make the institution of slavery *worse* than it had ever been before, and get so disgusted & mad that you think there is nothing else in the culture but that. But a culture includes a hell of a lot of people, doing a hell of a lot of different things, and pushing in different directions. If you are going to be honest about things like European colonialism on this continent and the 3/5 compromise you also have to be honest about the fact that Powell and corporate America felt it necessary to shut down representative democracy in the United States in order to get their way. I think it's worth getting more granular, more specific; the truth is that representative democracy was actually starting to work a bit in the 60s and early 70s, and it freaked the investment class out, so they shut it down. 1978-2010 was them shutting it down. Now it's shut.
