Your flower photos are mesmerising. I always get such a vital sense of your own amazement of them. The poppy is just beautiful, and watching the butterfly in motion was a treat.

I will go get the photo I took last evening ...

A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.

From you in the EBs -

"focus on the good, on peace, be soft ..." and, like you say here ...

"what an amazing little planet, you got here".

Thanks

This one was extremely hard to see for all the foilage. It was probably 40 feet away through many bushes. Some one had to nelp us find it.

So this is a cropped image cutting out most of the foreground obstructions. Full belly, sleeping, not a care in this world.....

A friend and I tried to get that picture for two hours many years ago. First hour, before the bottle of wine, with slightly better results than the second hour's effort. That was pre-Photoshop of course. Im jealous

i shot it with my cellphone. the butterfly made it possible by not moving around too quickly, the autofocus is generally thrown off by more energetic butterfly movements.

The cloud looked a little like a pink rose, just hanging there. I like my geriatric Olympus (decent lens and sensor) as it seems to create shots that a good old film 35mm might make.

Caucus photographers! I've seen more butterflies in the past two months, than in that past couple years (for some reason).

(What an evening to be late, due to paying bills.)

My best to SteveJ, as well--hope he's enjoying his well-deserved break.

Have a nice weekend, All.

(Oh, only 6 more days until Fall!)

It's Devil's claw, or Unicorn Plant (see Wikipedia).

The orange streaks up the throat of the flower glow in UV like a landing strip for bees Smile

The seed pods (that give it its name) are used in floral arrangements. It grows in "disturbed" areas in my yard, such as in the middle of paths I'm trying to establish. The flowers are big (for a wildflower), about 2" across. Once they start flowering, I can't bring myself to pull them up, and wait until they're done before doing path maintenance, heh.
