Stein--Final Ballot Results!
All states have now decided the ballot status of the Green Party's Jill Stein for president of the United States.
Rhode Island, the last state to decide, will allow Stein on the ballot. This gives her direct access to 44 state ballots, plus Washington D.C. These account for access to 480 total electoral college votes. It takes 270 votes to win the presidency outright.
Stein is also an official write-in candidate for 3 states--Georgia, North Carolina, and Indiana. These 3 states have 42 electoral college votes, which will technically bring her access to a total of 522 electoral college votes. As I've pointed out before, however, her chances of winning these states is slim, because her name will not appear on the ballot itself and people will need to remember on their own to vote for her, spell her name correctly, etc. If you are in one of these states, please look up the procedure and rules as to how to write in a presidential candidate. Details may vary by state.
There are 3 states where there is no possible way for you to vote for Stein and get it counted--Nevada, South Dakota, and Oklahoma. These represent 16 electoral college votes.
Here be the final map for Stein!
There are 538 total electoral college votes. Having access to 522 of them is quite an achievement considering the political circumstances, and considering a month ago she only had access to 357 votes.
Congrats to everyone who helped in every state--especially those who fought in the states where things weren't successful. Two of those states--Nevada and Oklahoma--are where Stein is polling very high. So, an attempt needed to be made. In any war, some battles are lost.
Compare to the map Stein faced in the 2012 election below. We kicked ass this time around!
Please pour yourselves a drink, pause for a quiet moment of reflection, or do something special tonight or tomorrow to celebrate! The Green Party and their supporters did fantastic. You should always celebrate the wins!

They did a bang up job of this.
I wish she was polling higher. I was reading some poll results, and they concluded Bernie Independents were mostly breaking for Johnson. Shows how stupid the DNC was is not running Bernie.

Who Knows?
Jill has been making news with her vandalism, she's really upped her state tours in the past couple of weeks, and with Hillary's health problems--just maybe we'll see an uptick in Stein's polling.
Don't really think that was Presidential.
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
I Have to Disagree
Standing up for what's right, not being afraid of some civil disobedience. Very presidential. Hell, George Washington took up arms against the rightful government.
The rest of 'em are aloof cowards with no sense of right and wrong.
My opinion, of course. Feel free to disagree. But no change ever came about from staying out of the fray.
Edit to add: And she did it in a very well thought out way--she vandalized just the blade of the dozer--not the very expensive bulldozer itself. They can switch blades very easily. And look at the free media it garnered. I've seen at least a handful of comments on reddit stating that this act was making people who decided not to vote for Stein rethink their stance.
It's good to see well thought out activism. She displays a metric ton more intelligence than any of the others . . .
That's too funny.
I'm
surepositive, that Jill was more harmed by the vapors from the spray can.Painting a bulldozer blade is like shaving my testicles. It may look a little different but it doesn't stop the inevitable production or destruction.
A five pound bag of sugar would be an issue for the dozer and me.
Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
Agree with you except for "switch blades"
That blade digs into the dirt and rock. The paint has probably already been scraped off. If not, it will be very soon by just running the dozer as usual. This "vandalism" could not be more of a nothingburger.

I wonder if this is a skew caused by polling options leaving
Jill out. Maybe Sanders independents who would swing to Jill instead say Johnson when the polling outfit doesn't include Jill as an option?
I tell them anyway
I got polled a while back, and the guy asked me "Clinton, Trump or Johnson?".
I told him I was voting for Jill Stein, and waited while he wrote that down (since it wasn't a checkbox on his list).
So there!
“We may not be able to change the system, but we can make the system irrelevant in our lives and in the lives of those around us.”—John Beckett
It included Stein.
I'll look for it. It said 3rd party was definitely hurting Hill more than Trump, and Johnson gained more from it than Hill. It talked about how Hill was barely in the lead in blue states like MI. Our elections for Prez always go blue and Bernie won MI.

Yeah, that's what we keep being told
except I'm just done believing them and their polls and their focus groups and their propaganda. After what happened to Bernie Sanders, it should be real obvious, shouldn't it? TPTB don't want Jill Stein any more than they wanted him. Their poll numbers will never show Stein polling more than a couple percent, and that's all the votes they'll let her have, regardless of how many people vote for her.
The rest of us? Nobody knows. And nobody will ever know for sure, because the damned voting itself is compromised.

I have a number of conservative friends in Pennsylvania whose
family members would have voted for Bernie because of his proposals. These folks are hardcore Reagan Republicans with strong religious values, yet the economic issues were more important to them than anything else, and they were willing to overlook their disagreements with Bernie on a number of issues because he spoke the language of populism and had a strong record on trade. From what I understand, they are now voting for Johnson because they are ashamed of Trump, they hate Hillary, and they think Stein is a kook. It's a huge missed opportunity to move these traditionally conservative groups to the Left.
Watch this!
It provides a possible explanation.

The only way the Greens will poll higher
Is by renaming the party (the flirtation with Nader was a death blow), and actually running a full slate of candidates.
Right now, the Greens look like a vanity project.
And then there is Dr. Stein's anti-vaxx nuttiness......

Great News
Two months is an eternity in politics. There is no telling what this crazy cycle will bring. I'm thrilled to see so much Green. I'm hoping for at least 5%.

Me too!
I have no dreams that she'll win. I want the green party included in the public money. We need more than the triopoly we currently have.
The libertarian party has never been on my radar due to their platform. And now the republican and democratic party both are as good as dead to me.
The only platform that fits the state we're in, is one that recognizes the dangers humans have created and continue to create upon the environment.
Going Green. I don't care if we lose. It's our statement to the status,

Thanks for the update, apenultimate!
I've been wondering how well the Stein would do on ballot access. Very well indeed-y.
Seems to me the next prongs of this project will be voter awareness of Stein and the Green positions on issues and GOTV.
Are you aware of any national guidance on these or other projects beyond fundraising to help accomplish them?
I live in a Deep South state (whose electors will surely go to Trump), and my problem is that the only organization is in the state capitol with apparently well-intentioned but not very well-organized, - run volunteers at that level, leaving those like myself living in a college town adjacent to the state's largest, 25,000-student university (and no connections to the university myself) on our own to "self-organize." Hard to do when the state level has the master lists of party members and interested persons - and they're not sharing the info so we can find one another!
Sorry to have gone on at such length, but would love to hear how things are operating in other similar, mostly "rural" states.

Unfortunately, I don't know
If the state Green Party isn't well organized or forthcoming, and you cannot find any information at the university, my suggestion would be to post a bunch of fliers around the university yourself with a meeting place, date, and time, and see who you can attract from the university crowd to promote GOTV for Stein.
I know that's a ton of responsibility, but if you have an initial idea or two, undoubtedly some students from the university would bring in other good ideas.
I've been contacting college alumni associations
of all colleges in NCAA football conferences so that I can make guest posts before their homecoming games. I succeeded in posting on about 75% of the colleges. At any given homecoming game, there's a good chance that at least some of the alums have heard about student loan forgiveness. If you [and whoever you can bully into going with you] could make a visible presence in the vicinity of the games, you might be able to hand out some leaflets or something.
And yes, this includes the Deep South.
I suggest that you register with r/jillstein, write a post giving your state, and asking people to private message you with email addresses or something.

Is the 5% of the vote needed for federal funding
based solely on a percentage of the national vote, or is there some other metric such as 5% in each state, or ... ?
Only connect. - E.M. Forster
First, skim all of it, then zero in on the Eligibility heading.
http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/pubfund.shtml
The 5%
is the percentage of the national vote needed.
So why do we let a private company deprive us
if the percentage of the vote to get funding is 5%, then that's what it should be to get into that joke of a debate.
Assuming it happens. With #HillarysHealth being what it is, I kind of doubt it--unless there's a body double and they're stupid enough to try and pull that off...
Actually, why do two private clubs--cause that's what they
say they are--get to dictate how we run our elections and our politics in the first place?

Not to mention telling you
Not to mention telling you who you can vote for in nominations and changing any member choices they/their funders don't like, because that 'wrong' choice want to serve the public interest, as the public office they'll run for exists to do.
Edited for, I hope, clarity.

I am grateful to everyone who worked to get the Green Party on the ballot in so many states.
While I shall not cast a vote for the Libertarian Party, I am also pleased to see that they have ballot access as well.

With Hillary's health problems
TPTB might decide to open up the debates because it would be pretty silly to try to have a debate with only one candidate showing up.
Of course, just because that seems logical to me doesn't mean they'll do it.

Nah, they'll send a surrogate.
Probably Biden, or Kaine, though then he'd have to debate twice.

Hooray, we did it! Now we need to spread the word like crazy.
The problem isn't that people don't like her, it's that they don't know her.
I also think we should make sure conservatives know about Gary Johnson, to ensure cutting into OranguTrump's vote.

And after they know her, why should they like her?
She hasn't held any office above city council.
Then there is her anti-vaxxer nuttiness.
She is a shitty candidate, pure and simple.
I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it."
John Stuart Mill (1806 - 1873)
She is not anti-vaxxer. That is a smear that sounds suspiciously
like the Bernie smears that came from the Hill camp earlier. I thus suspect this smear is coming from the Hillary camp. Jill understands the anti-vaxxer concerns but does not agree with them.
She is anti war. I fact checked her war speech. She is correct; we arm all sides of the conflict and make money for the MIC, at the expense of Middle Eastern lives. Both mainstream candidates would continue those unethical policies. This is the one reason I like Johnson: He would cut off the funding that enables the constant upsurge of weapons over there, rather than the U.S. continuing to wage war either directly or via surrogates.
She will make major changes to address climate change, of course, it is her core issue.
She has adopted most of Bernie's economic policies and proposed a Green New Deal.
She is not taking money from corporate interests so will not be beholden to them.
Will she be as effective as she might if she'd held higher offices before? Probably not. But she will move us in the correct direction on these issues. Unlike the other candidates.
Is she perfect? Of course not. No one is.
At any rate, whether or not they learn to like her is up to each individual. They don't have that option as long as they don't know she even exists.

What color is the sky in your world? No, Seriously
Just how do you expect 1 piece of legislation to get passed, if by some miracle she got elected? Executive Orders are not actually permanent. In addition, they can be over-ridden. The president doesn't pass legislation - Congress does.
The Green Party, as it is currently constructed is a vanity project, it isn't a real political party.
The priority needs to be at the local/state level, the national level is a complete waste of time. 200+ candidates at the local/state level for 50 states is on the level of a rounding error.
The only track record the Greens have in the US is being tied to Nader - which in case you haven't noticed, doesn't help.

At the moment the sun is setting in lovely shades of violet,
pinkish red and orange, actually, and I'm enjoying an ice cold strawberry margarita. Time to chill.
Obviously she will have to find congresscritters to work with. And otherwise issue executive orders. But maybe 8 years of peace would end this pro-war-all-the-time crap once and for all. She can run the executive branch as she sees fit, within the constraints of budgets provided by Congress. She would have the bully pulpit. Both mainstream parties would be shitting all over themselves and maybe move leftward once and for all (or as permanently as anything lasts in politics). She'd be in charge of the DHS, the CDC, the NIH, the FDA, the EPA, the USDA, the DOJ, the DOI, etc., etc. There's a lot she could handle without legislation, simply appoint better people. People who have your and my interests at heart, not the corporate overlords'.
Sure, fight for better candidates at the local/state level. Meanwhile, let me guess. You're planning to vote for Trump?

At this point, what
At this point, what legislation gets passed is typically what TPTB want to be passed - and which harms the public interest in order to benefit the self-interests who already have sucked up the most wealth and power.
Had the American people and the people of the world not been cheated out of Bernie's Dem nomination win, his likely landslide general election win would doubtless have carried many progressive Dems in with him, on his coattails. Evil is as evil does - don't ask for more evil by voting for it, eliminate it, no matter what's been labelled as. And vote for someone who will at least try for the public good, rather than against it.
