Dakota Access Pipeline Halted by Obama
Submitted by apenultimate on Fri, 09/09/2016 - 5:35pm
Even though the lawsuit to stop the pipeline was rejected by a judge today, the Obama Administration stepped in and put a temporary halt to construction for further review.
I'm sure it will resume after the election. Can't have any more opportunities for political recognition for the third party candidates, amirite?!?

Yup, you would be correct
here, all for show out of our ConservaDem POTUS. Now watch for the Shill to come out against it too....

Or, maybe
they were just frightened by Stein's vandalizing, terrorist ways?
They are cowards at heart . . .
Yup
but Obama's not running, he's actually the current POTUS. The Administration HAD TO step in, regardless of that eeeevil third-party vandalizer--and not for nothing, but I'll bet they're pissed at that judge who rejected that lawsuit, for making it necessary. The largest Native American mobilization in 150 years is underway, and they are just righteously pissed. And a lot of regular Americans are behind them 100%.
Mind you, this action that the Administration took is probably not going to stop that mobilization, either, but as you say, they're in damage control mode (and that means they'll still manage to screw it up somehow, so there's that to look forward to, but that's beside the bigger point, lol)
Now--the other candidates? Oh, hell no--you won't hear a peep out of them. There's your cowards--Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump and Gary Johnson. Cowards, ALL. You can bet all of them have dirty money somewhere in their campaign coffers from the fossil fuel industry, and they're too chickenshit to give that money back, and put those companies in their proper places.
Oh but he is running, running for his 'legacy' .
He's the lowest of the low liar's liar, but the crap he gets ....

Hillary Reportedly Raises 'Twice As Much' From the Oil Industry As Trump
The sector typically serves as a GOP stronghold for campaign financing.
Hillary Clinton has significantly out-raised Donald Trump in the oil and gas industry, an important venue for campaign financing that has historically served as a boon for Republicans, according to a new Wall Street Journal analysis.
As of the latest fundraising cycle at the end of July, employees in the oil and gas sector had donated $525,000 to Clinton’s campaign, compared with $149,000 to Trump’s team, the newspaper reported.
That’s outside of the $470,000 that members of the industry gave to a fundraising account Trump holds with the Republican National Committee. But even that pales in comparison to Clinton’s DNC account, which took in $650,000.

I don't understand why R's don't ADORE Killary
Abortion and LGBT, you say? (Rhetorical you.) Well she publicly supports both, except when she didn't.
Not religious enough, you say? Well, like her Republican counterparts, she pulls the faith card when it benefits her.
Other than those two, she's full on Republican. Pro big brother, big business, oil, war, scamming, scheming, etc.. All the things Republicans adore.
They call her a liar, but seem to believe what she says about issues they disagree with. I, on the other hand, believe she means the opposite of what she actually says to the public.

Well it's about freakin' time.
One of the more outrageous assaults on Native rights to come down the pike in a while. Has Her Heinous deigned to comment at all?

That was what I was thinking too
No big deal to stop it for now if he gets the TPP passed.
Do the protesters know about the ISDS in the TPP or even the TPP? So many people I have spoken to about this haven't heard a word about it. They are dumbfounded by what Obama is doing.
Then again, he IS the best president since FDR
I have been reading some comments on another website and one person brought up the private security firm that let the dogs bite people just like the cops used to do to the African Americans during the civil rights movement. The person wrote that Obama wouldn't have become president if it wasn't for MLK and the others that marched with him.
He didn't say anything after seeing the dogs bite the protesters .
And remember that he's accepted slavery and human trafficking in Malaysia as long as he gets to pass the TPP.
And where has his justice department been on all of the killings of unarmed black people?
Obama and civil rights...
Like you said, he hasn't said one word about the brute squads and their attack dogs.
Just like he hasn't said one word about his administration's violent raids on dispensaries.
He didn't say jack about OWS.
He doesn't care about us democrats, minorities or people really.
But he's the best president evah...

The protest is starting to get some traction,
once they showed pictures of the dogs attacking the protestors, things went too far - shades of the civil rights movement. Can't have that before we drag this nag across the finish line in November. Once the election is over, they will bulldoze the sight and sic the dogs on the protestors and not give a damn what you think, because they will all be safely elected or out of office.
Drag this nag!
Another wonderful addition to the political lexicon.
IF any of the questions about HIllary's health are true.........
and the DNC would have to know they were true; then, indeed, they are attempting to drag Hillary through to the election knowing full-well she may or may not be capable of acting as president. Then what? If Hillary were incapacitated, who would run the show? Bill? Huma? or would she step down(something I think inconceivable for a Clinton) and we would be stuck with Tim Kane?
In either event, the DNC is looking to maintain power - period. I think they made a huge mistake backing Hillary, but this has been in the cards for more than a couple presidential cycles. They have to play it out.
The presidential race is nothing, if not a horse race. I think the term perfectly appropriate.
While the TPP
looks promising to die, look over here at what I can do.

Good! I'll take it, I don't care about motivation. Those are
some serious thugs trying to keep the pipeline going. If they get their way, they'll probably contaminate the drinking water first thing accidentally on purpose. This will give the real Americans time to fight in court.

Except for the "real" Americans living downstream
That water also goes beyond the stinking Injuns, and will hurt the "real" Americans downstream. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot (feet?).
This whole thing makes me sick. I've been listening to Democracy Now at work but get interrupted so often that I miss so much. Pacifica in Houston also has Native News (can't recall actual name of program). I learn so much more than from idiotic NPR - even missing parts due to interruptions and dumb meetings.
There's also a "sports" program done by two African American guys. The only sports related anything, is the fact that the people they talk about, and to, are athletes. It's really about civil rights, and rape culture, and so much more.
If not for Pacifica, I'd not know about the pipeline, the Water Protectors, the road blocks (they cut off direct access to the casino to financially hurt the NAs), Jill Stein and Baraka. None of it.
Sorry this drifted. Tried to find link to the Native American program, and couldn't.
This move was a way to get us
This move was a way to get us to stop seeing Obama the pusher for the TPP. Of course, if he had the TPP in place, his halt would have been either ignored or challenged under their tribunal clause, suing the US for interfering with corporate business.
So long, and thanks for all the fish
