This is why I am not a Democrat...
Caution - profanity to ensue...
First, some background. There is an initiative on the ballot in November in Colorado. Amendment 69. (Colorado can vote to 'amend' it's constitution by popular vote). This amendment would instigate a single payer program for health care in Colorado. And so I proceed...
The fucking 'Broomfield County Democrats' sent me an e-mail tonight:

Speaker for Coloradans For Coloradans“Amendment 69 will raise $25 billion in new taxes to fund a massive government-run health care system — a figure that almost doubles the state budget. All Coloradans will pay into this system giving Colorado the highest income taxes in the nation. Colorado can’t afford Amendment 69.”

First of all, I am no longer a 'Member of the Broomfield County Democrats." I briefly became a Democrat to vote for Bernie.
Secondly. WHAT. THE. FUCK. The Broomfield County Democrats are holding a FORUM to DEBATE Amendment 69? They aren't actively supporting it?
This was my response:
Why in the Hell are the Broomfield 'Democrats' holding a debate on Amendment
69??? This is the reason why I left the Democratic Party. Frickin' stand up
for the citizens in this country!!! You should be holding rallies FOR this
Amendment. Please take me off of your subscription list.
A DEBATE. I have never been so happy with my decision to leave.

I used to live in El Paso County...
My condolences.
Democrats, we tried to warn you. How is that guilt and shame working out?
It's not the labels that
It's not the labels that matter, it's the funders wishes that do. Just call them all corporate Republicrats? (Pardon MY profanity also, please!)
Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.
A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
Let me take a look...
why would we be by "democrats" holding a debate about an issue the MAJORITY FUCKING WANTS!?
Of course there's this

Right...
Why open it up for debate - unless of course you don't REALLY want it.
Democrats, we tried to warn you. How is that guilt and shame working out?
Why open it for debate?
It's a bit difficult to get politicians to want something that they've already been paid not to want....
Coloradoans should be familiar with this: legal cannabis and fracking bans are being vociferously opposed by our supposed Democratic politicians here.
If I wanted fucking Republicans, I'd vote for 'em!

Thank you for the videos! I signed up with the anti-
corruption act folks. It seems doable.

Democrats are Republicans
They want to cut taxes ; and watch you die.
"Religion is what keeps the poor from murdering the rich."--Napoleon
But . . .
. . .with Democrats you have to listen to them pontificate about how badly they feel while you're dying. Unless you're a target or need to be made an example the Republicans generally let you die in peace.
Would that be equivalent
to the "monologueing villain" trope?
The Democrats no longer represent the worker classes.
And they don't represent Independents like you, either. They have no interest in the Neoliberal plight of the Millennials — a demographic that actually outnumbers the Baby Boomers. They brush off the FDR Dems and their "socialist" vision for the nation, and they have no desire to represent America's Left at the Federal level.
To the New Democrats, these are the "throw-aways." They have been jettisoned from the Party for longer than they realize — with nowhere to go. Unfortunately, the truth of that is inconvenient for the disenfranchised, so the Party continues to asset-strip them for funding, with promises of more and better Democrats. There is no end in sight for that scam.
Of course, Coloradans can afford to insure themselves! Those who currently pay health insurance premiums will find themselves flush with significant cash — the money that they (or their employers) once used to pay insurance companies. What's more, the total costs of health care will be waaay lower in Colorado once the insurance parasite is ejected along with their profit mandates and conflicts of interest.
The Dem-Publicans want to debate it because the taxes needed to fund single-payer costs will be keyed to one's income. Those who receive the lion's share of total income will pay the lion's share of taxes. Compare that to the way the costs of this basic human right currently impacts the average Coloradan. The very wealthy and the middle classes each pay the same dollar amount for the same basic insurance. For the middle class, that cost is a big hit per month; it is oppressive and painful. This is "income inequality" in action. It has cratered the well-being and economic security of the worker classes and has denied their children a better future.
A human right denied, wrapped in the Neoliberal policy of global greed, has left the American people far far worse than they were found.
Conflating Two Thoughts
First of all, as has been covered in other threads, Obamacare is crashing and burning. Insurance providers found an opening to get out of offering affordable plans and are pulling out of the exchanges. There will be no available plans in many places by the beginning of next year.
Now add in this new "income tax" proposal to fund Amendment 69. I'm thinking (since "Democrats" are behind this) that this is just a back-door scheme to try to save Obamacare, so that Barry's legacy -the only actual good thing he tried to do for We the People even if he's failing- isn't tarnished on his entry into political retirement. What better way to keep it alive -and maybe keep providers involved in the scam- than to force MORE people into participating and not opting to pay the penalty instead?
If it proves to work in CO, it would then find its way into the national law.
Side thought: it's a shame Barry doesn't try to emulate John Quincy Adams and run for a House seat after leaving the White House. I'd love to see the voters pay him back for his mis- and malfeasance with a resounding poll defeat!

There is only one party. The Corporate Party of America.
It'll be interesting to see how the election in Colorado goes. With the theft of the primary from Bernie, it makes me wonder if TPTB will be able to manipulate the vote just enough in CO to have amendment 69 fail. TPTB like having their banks between the people and doctors.
All the 'Democrats' in my state are pro-TPP. As is our president. None of the progressive challengers I voted for in the primary won so now I'm left with no choices down ballot. Guessing the only entry on there will be for Jill Stein. I have little confidence it will even be counted.

I read
"Bloom County Democrats". Not too surprising as it seems Bill the Cat has taken over the Democratic Party.
