Skid Row Medical Crisis. [Update 2]
Since Friday 30 people were hospitalized and 12 DOA at the County Hospital.
The cause of death is a bad load of Spice that was dumped on Skid Row. The deaths are continuing and the LAPD is making bullhorn announcements about bad Spice killing people.
Update I didn't even know. I saw a couple of people covered up by the Fire Department Ambulance over the weekend. Curious, but not unusual on Skid Row. Last month an LAFD medic told me they had over 100 calls one day that week. I asked what their record was. He shrugged and said " Over 100."

The reason Spice became so popular on Skid Row is because it doesn't show up in a urine test when you have to piss for your Probation/Parole Officer. (hereinafter PO)
I tried it once and got a nasty flavored hit and a weak buzz. I asked the dude "Why did I just waste ten minutes of my life smoking that shit?"
It has become very popular because some,folks are spicing up the Spice so it has a bigger kick. Well, this batch had the biggest kick there is. A Deadman's drug if there ever was one.

Sadly, I imagine drugs help people get through life on 'skid
row'. I'm amazed that people are even noticing. Generally no one gives a damn what happens to those people. This would sure be an easy way to cut down on a part of the populace that offend the delicate sensibilities of so many in our oh-so-God-worshipping country.
That's why if I can and if I have some money, I give it to the homeless and down-and-out. I'm always broke, but I have a roof over my head. Sometimes meds or food can get kind of iffy, but at least I'm not a victim to the elements and the moneyed assholes that berate and insult and act like these people don't even exist (or even deserve to exist).

Not true, at least not for 99% or so of us.
It's the other 1% -- in this case, the folks who keep a relatively harmless herb just as illegal as heroin -- whose lack of humanity causes all of these problems. "Spice" is synthetic ersatz cannabis, usually made by adding designer neo-cannabinoid chemicals to otherwise inert vegetable matter for smoking. No ban on recreational cannabis == no "Spice"; you won't find much of any "Spice" in Colorado.

Here in hippie-land of Central NY, still heroin is the usual drug of death. Now families are being literal in what caused the deaths of their young adults. I know, not happening on Skid Row. How frightening.
