The Coagulation of Warmongers and War Criminals Around A New Leader?

Dear god in Politico

As Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign reaches out to Republicans alarmed by Donald Trump's national security blunders, there’s a group of high-profile GOP hold-outs whose endorsement would be a major coup if the Democrat could win them over.

Condoleezza Rice, James Baker, George Shultz and Henry Kissinger are among a handful of so-called Republican “elders” with foreign policy and national security experience — people who have held Cabinet-level or otherwise high-ranking positions in past administrations — who have yet to come out for or against Trump.

In the Guardian

The former officials, many of whom are likely candidates to staff any Republican president’s administration, added that Trump “lacks the character, values, and experience” to hold the highest office in the land. It was the latest sign of traditional Republicans, usually a fractious group, striking at Trump while the nominee reels under signs of cratering poll numbers and self-inflicted political wounds.

Many of the signatories have made their doubts known before. A March letter published at the online national security salon War on The Rocks sounded warnings on Trump’s character, policies and fitness for office. It included many who also signed the current letter, including George W Bush’s homeland security secretary Michael Chertoff; ex-Pentagon under secretary for policy and ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman; Condoleezza Rice aide Philip Zelikow; John McCain advisers Richard Fontaine and Kori Schake; and former US ambassador to Iraq Robert Blackwill.

Previously

We the undersigned, members of the Republican national security community, represent a broad spectrum of opinion on America’s role in the world and what is necessary to keep us safe and prosperous. We have disagreed with one another on many issues, including the Iraq war and intervention in Syria. But we are united in our opposition to a Donald Trump presidency. Recognizing as we do, the conditions in American politics that have contributed to his popularity, we nonetheless are obligated to state our core objections clearly:

Reading through the names gives me a horrible sense of foreboding.

All that is needed is for Dick Cheney to give his support to HRC.

And to cap it all the worlds worst prognosticator William "Bloody" Kristol is still backing Trump.

Condoleezza Rice, James Baker, George Shultz and Henry Kissinger? Dear god what a list and that is only the start.

Bringing together hawks and war criminals under one roof.

Yet they still say HRC is not a warmonger, many on the lists should be in prison let alone giving their advice and support.

We have two main candidates that scare the hell out of me and should scare everyone.

Would that make the word for a group of warmongers and war criminals a clot? As in, a clot of Kissingers?

There is no such thing as TMI. It can always be held in reserve for extortion.

Perhaps a "genocide of Kissingers." Or an "indochine."

Oh, we're so much better than those communists! We are the poster country of all things democratic, open, and transparent! No shenanigans to report here! No undermining of our population here! We trust our government and our political parties without question!

supporters as well.

Seriously, I wanna grab them and shake them like a British Nanny while shouting, "You are supporting a candidate that has the support of those that we have spent DECADES railing against and you think it's a good thing!?!?"

What the hell do they think is the case? Do they honestly believe that Hillary, in her infinite wisdom and ability to reach across the aisle was able to suddenly convert these people to a more liberal mindset?

Or is the more likely scenario that SHE is the epitome if what they stand for, the very thing we have been fighting, and they recognize that fact and are supporting her accordingly.

Pardon my French, but anyone that thinks option A is the case is a blithering fucking moron....

We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.

At the same time, the Democrats have become the party of bare-knuckled, full-throated American Exceptionalism. That transformation was announced with a vein-popping zeal by retired general and wannabe motivational screamer John Allen at the Democratic convention in the City of Brotherly Love. During his “speech,” a few plaintive protests of “no more war” were actually drowned-out by Democrats chanting “USA-USA-USA!”

White House spokesperson Megyn Kelly confirmed this morning that nuclear strikes were launched at Damascus, Moscow and St. Petersburg, FL. Ms. Kelly explained that President Clinton "short-circuited" when she ordered the launch as part of the escalating war in Syria.

about your phrasing... We'd prefer THIS version:

Potus makes Historic and bold Decision.
AP 2-13-17

White House Spokesperson Megyn Kelly praised the courageous decision to end the wars in Syria which had too long locked down our Brave Men and women in uniform.

In other news, Russia launched an Unprovoked attack against New York, Miami, and Los Angeles, in what can only be described as a War Crime, which requires the full deployment of our nuclear arsenal.

that would be St. Petersburg, FL, Moscow, Idaho, and the former Damacus, Oregon. I really like this part:

Damascus was a city in Clackamas County, Oregon, United States. First incorporated in 2004 it was disincorporated July 18, 2016 upon voters decision on May 17, 2016. The unincorporated community Damascus is located east of Happy Valley and Interstate 205 and west of Boring.

reveals the empirical evidence of her historic support for aggressive interventions around the globe.

  • Beginning with Africa, Hillary defended the 1998 cruise missile strike on the El Shifa pharmaceutical plant in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, destroying the largest producer of cheap medications for treating malaria and tuberculosis and provided over 60% of available medicine in Sudan.
  • In 2006 she supported sending United Nations troops to Darfur with logistical and technical support provided by NATO forces. Libyan leader Moammar Qaddafi was outspoken in his condemnation of this intervention, claiming it was not committed out of concern for Sudanese people but “…for oil and for the return of colonialism to the African continent.”
  • This is the same leader who was murdered in the aftermath of the 2011 NATO bombing of Libya; an attack promoted and facilitated with the eager support of Mrs. Clinton. In an infamous CBS news interview, said regarding this international crime: “We came, we saw, he died.”
  • Her voting record on intervening in Afghanistan and Iraq is well known and she also has consistently called for attacking Iran.
  • Hillary Clinton is not only actively aggressing against Africa and the Middle East. She was one of the loudest proponents against her husband’s hesitancy over the bombing of Kosovo, telling Lucina Frank: “I urged him to bomb,” even if it was a unilateral action.

At this point there is little perfidy that I wouldn't find her capable of.

weeks go by it is becoming convincingly clear to me that Bernie Sanders should have broken from the Democratic Party and run as an independent. I think he would be leading in the polls at this time and my guess is that he would win the general election in November in a 3 way race. I also know he gave his word he would not and I respect him for that but what a missed opportunity.

Looking back, there's a lot of merit in this position. Could he have gotten on all 50 state ballots, and other "little" things. It's interesting to think about Bernie's race if he hadn't been involved in a primary fight with HRC. All his time and energy could have gone into voter registration, etc. and, by now, he would definitely be even or ahead in the polls. I'll be thinking more about this - thanks for your take.

For one thing, rank and file Republicans hate Hillary Clinton. And they don't really trust Republican fat cats.

Secondly, we have a short period of time to address the people and their real concerns. Let us spend our time talking to the people about the people.
