Because this interview was a presentation before journalism students at the New School, the primary focus was upon the journalistic process that Poitras and Greenwald used to interview and release the Snowden documents. It also talked about Laura's documentary, Citizen Four, which has been nominated for an Academy award in the documentary category.
I think one of the most interesting insights was when Snowden talked about how these security agencies scare the crap out of any elected official who wants to put oversight upon them.
Snowden and Poitras did mention steps anyone can take to protect their on line information and Snowden hoped that the people would press for holding these agencies accountable to the Constitutional protections that we the people should be accorded.
IMHO, it is not up to Poitras and Greenwald to make specific recommendations. It is up to us, we the people, to demand that our government (and its elected officials) respect our Constitutional rights.
For what it is worth, David Carr looked and sounded very bad during the interview. His voice was very weak, and he coughed constantly which may have been a symptom of impending congestive heart failure.

wonderful to see these people relaxed and talking serious stuff from a position of relative safety.
every time I see Snowden, I like him better.
His remark about working more for less but being more satisfied at the end was wonderful to hear.
In general, his stance that WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE is incredibly important to hear. I am hoping I can show Citizen Four to my classes this semester.
