Take heart! #DemExit is being taken seriously

Please read the following incredible article from Salon by Sophia McClennnen
10 Reasons why #DemExit is serious: Getting rid of Debbie Wasserman Schultz is not enough
I am not going to excerpt it or make any additional comments because the article IMO is perfect as it stands. This is one of the best summations of what went on in the Primary that I have encountered.
Update and edit : I apologize for making 3 posts in a day. My rule for myself is to only post if I think I have something to say, and there are many days when I have nothing to add, but today as it turns out I found 3 things to throw into the pond.

No worries
I for one welcome as many posts as you want to make.

Thank you Steven D.
I appreciate so much your first person experiences and personal follow -up with primary sources of so much of the weirdness swirling around us.

They don't care. The fix is being set up now for Nov voting.
I hope (but doubt) that any journalist tries to estimate the magnitude of Demexit. We are not talking 10,000 walkers, probably more in the millions. Democratic Party: what a sham. Snake oil.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
I doubt it.
Possibly 10k. But I wouldn't put money on it.

And realize that the DemExit movement at the convention was "only" powerful enough to force the DNC to obscure the audience in camera shots, try to make the convention appear more united, show us all what a Nationalistic right-leaning party it has become ("USA! USA! USA!"), AND reveal the complicity of the corporate media after being denied any real coverage even during the sit-in of the media center. If I even had money to bet, I'd wager that all the folk OUTSIDE the convention who the mainstream media ignored probably aren't gonna be card-carrying Democrats much longer either. Something also tells me DemExit wasn't confined to the streets of Philly, but maybe that's just my intuition gone awry....
The millions of us in California who watched our primary get stolen weren't all NPP voters - though I'm sure many are now.

I wasn't around, but all the protest at the 1968 convention
must have been much better covered by the likes of John Chancellor and Walter Cronkite.

I can only compare the coverage to ripping the scab off. Everything was shown that reporters could reach, and if they couldn't reach it to show it they described it. As noted above, reporters were targets too. War zone reporting.

I continued breathing, and my daughter, granddaughter, and I exited the dem party. Good advice!

We may wind up with that number in just our county. I've sat down, taken a deep breath, and concluded that "some of you" are whistling past the graveyard of your hopes and dreams. The more dismissively your claims are addressed to the rest of us, the firmer my conclusion.

people are watching them. And they know it. And they care about being able to execute that fix, and they're gonna have a little trouble doing it.
I hope it's the lot of Benie
I hope it's the lot of Bernie supporters, and a lot of uncomfortable/concerned Clinton and Trump voters sensibly moving to any Bernie miracle or failing this, Jill Stein, the non-corporate, non-psychopathic Presidential candidate offering the chance of democracy and the survival of life on the planet for more than just decades from now.
The primary theft cannot be yet again accepted and left to stand as a 'done deal' or there will never be another chance for pacific, political change to democracy or to salvage what remains of the natural life-support system on which we all depend but which mindlessly destructive self-interests are determined to pillage and pollute to extinction in their insatiable greed for taking and 'having it all'.
Edit: arrrrr, matey, FSM forgive me and hand me a beer - somehow missed an arrrrr...

Nor the collusion with plutocrats

They only had to lock the doors & hire actor-sitters to cheer
Plus turn down the lights and seat all Bernie's states in the back of the hall.
All good reasons...
Mine is of course:
Clinton is a Damn Dirty Liar who did the best she could to destroy this country and doesn't deserve another shot.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
The Clintons, Both of Them, destroyed the Dem Party
They broke it, and now they own it.
This is the first time since 1956 that I have not watched a minute of the Dem convention. When the Dem party loses a stalwart supporter as I have been over these decades, they've lost more than a single voter.
The proud Goldwater Girl of '64 is still a fucking Goldwater Girl. I don't know how either one of those nasty oligarchic monsters can sleep at night.
Love it!
The Clintons will have to Pottery Barn the DNC. Pretty sure the Clinton Foundation can cover/absorb that!
The Dems lost another stalwart supporter
My first election was 1972, when I became a member of the Young Democrats. We worked for the McGovern campaign and I have voted Democratic ever since. I am now an Independent and am never going back to that cesspool of a party. I see the Democratic party so differently after what Clinton did to Bernie in this election. Also, I watched all the Dem elites in Congress get in line behind someone who should be running on the Republican ticket. Jill Stein is on the ballot in my state and she will get my vote in Nov. My sister, a life-long Democratic, has become an Independent, as well. The Democratic party is going to be surprised by all the defections.
Psychopaths have no empathy
Psychopaths have no empathy and no conscience. And in the Clinton's case, if the mirror cracks when they look into it in the morning, they buy a new house, likely White, at taxpayer expense. Of course they can sleep at night, after the 10 minutes of hate for anyone who doesn't adulate them and the 15 minutes of gloating over the harm they've so cleverly done that day.
Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.
A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
I, too, was always a stalwart Dem voter
Since my first vote for Jimmy Carter, I voted for every single Democrat up and down the ticket in every single election since. I volunteered, donated, the whole nine yards. The establishment Dems lost me forever with their disgusting election tactics and their disgusting candidate. My 86-year-old mom is in SHOCK that I will refuse to vote for Hillary. She's quite confident that I'll change my mind.
She's wrong. Sorry, Mom, (NOT sorry).

For that good old American, short term memory loss to kick in. They got the memory loss machine pumping on all cylinders bombarding us with memes right and left.

Yeah, well
I don't think that's going to be as much of a Thing as it used to be:
They're going to be waiting a long time...
I was sitting down when I
realized I was not a Democrat.
I took a deep breath, and sighed tremendous relief.
My crystal ball is on the blink, so I am unable to come up with the exact number of dems who will join with the majority independents.
I just know it won't take many to demonstrate to the DP that we are just not that into them.
When the DCCC asked me for money, I unsubscribed, and my reason was thus:
I believe Clinton should be indicted and stand trial. She should not be anywhere near the White House, unless there is a Federal prison unit in the vicinity.
I am a former lifelong Dem. I am 64, have been an attorney for 31 years, have practiced both defense and have been a prosecutor.
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
The Clintons Aren't Democrats Either
On one level, I've known that since WJC was president.
But then I knew it, absolutely and for sure, when I learned that the Clintons chose to spend the holidays with that old war criminal Henry Fucking Kissinger. No self-respecting Democrat who opposed the US in Vietnam would give HFK the time of day.
Joy Reid was correct in her statement for the wrong reasons...
MSNBC's Joy Ann Reid: Clinton Convention Speech Shows How She Has "Absorbed" The "Old Republican Party"
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2016/07/28/msnbcs_joy_reid_hillar...
"She perfectly married the New Democratic Party to what is left of the Old Republican Party."
Great spin she placed on
Great spin she placed on Hillary's inner neocon coming out.
But the real 'family values' speech would have included something along the line of 'I want your kids, otherwise doomed to unemployment in an uncaring and 'wage-competitive with Malaysian slave-labours' corporate property termed America, (of which I'll be the CEO,) to go to other, less advantaged countries to kill the people there and their kids for the increased profit and power of your betters.'
Edit: or is this PR for corporate downsizing of the corporate parties from two to one beginning here? After all, if you're not going to bother faking elections anymore, why have more than one 'political' party for local corporate management and enforcement of the offshored domestic law to be made by corporate interests/billionaires for their own maximized anticipated profits which the people must supply, under corporate law, even if it literally kills them or they're sued into bankruptcy for trying to protect themselves?

Busy Unsubscribing, Too
This primary season, I unsubscribed from the DNC, DCCC, and the DSCC. If there's one I've missed, please let me know. All their mail requests for $$ go to the recycle bin immediately without opening. They need to suck up to their Big Donors, because those are the people the Dem elites listen to. Growing up, the Democratic party was the party of FDR & JFK. Now that has been discarded and the Democrats are the party of Wall Street, Big Corporations, and rich people. The "little guy" gets lip service only.
I got an appeal ftom the D-trip...
...when they were tripping-out over the DNC leaks. Had unsubscribed from them long ago. I could see that they bought the address from another org.
Anyway, used their "unsubscribe" link and confirmed with the comment "Leaving party".
Always open it

Got an email from MoveOn whining about how tRump is outpolling HRC. Told them to shove it in my unsubscribe email.

It is an incredible article.

John F. Kennedy, In a speech at the White House, 1962
They should be worried, very worried.
So many people have left the party over the last week that it's impossible to ignore. #DemExit hasn't been trending on Twitter, either because of the way their system calculates trends or because it's being deliberately suppressed, but the hashtag is still being used at a very high rate. Every single tweet is another voter that the party has lost, which should scare the hell out of them if they have any sense.
NM has closed primaries.
I don't want to be DTS (declined to state) because there are local and state races that I have a vested interest in. I don't have any problem abstaining from certain races---think: presidential. But Susana Martinez has been kept from doing as many evil things as she would have liked to because the Dems retained the State Senate. But we lost the House. Not good. Prior to being governor, Susana was the DA in the county where I live. I've known her for years. She's not a nice person. She remained in office for so long because no attorneys wanted to run against her because she vindictive, in very scary ways. So, sorry folks. I can't #DemExit, but think it's great that you are.
I also have a close primary coming up.
There are some local races I want to support. I am happy that people are Demexiting.
If they have any sense?!
If they had any sense they'd have cleaned up and secured their servers the first time they were told they were a security risk.
If they had any sense, they'd have never cheated. Or, if they were convinced the only way Hillary could win the Primary WAS to cheat, then they'd have had their act together and cheated in such a way it wasn't blatantly in everyone's face.
If they had any sense, they'd know better than to burn bridges to what has been, up til now, a rock solid (if demanding) base. They'd also not be so obvious in attempting to convert Republicans to the New Democratic Party, especially while blowing off the old standard base.
If they'd had any sense... and one lick of moral conscience, they'd have taken over the floundering Republican party way back when, or started their own damn party and left us alone and intact.
Ah, well... I've voted Democratic in EVERY election... National, State, and County... since becoming old enough to vote. (IIRC, I was either with the 1st or 2nd group of 18-year-olds eligible to vote.) I'm now 60 years old and no longer will I vote a straight ticket. No longer will having a "D" behind their name mean an automatic advantage with my vote. Each individual I vote for will be vetted for how close their policies and past jives with mine. I'm weird, so I know no one will be perfect. But good, decent liberal republicans, especially at the state level, will get as much a vetting as the Dems.
And all that happens ONLY until we figure out whether to merge with another existing party, or build up the outline of the one Bernie left us.
Wow! I just managed to do some quick math in my head (major accomplishment there!) and realized I've been a solid Democratic voter for 42 years. I'm glad they feel they can be so cavalier in cheating me out of my primary vote this year (and, because they DID cheat, they basically stole all the money and labor I donated towards my candidate).
thanks Phoebe Loosinhouse

ROFL. The comment thread alone...
...was worth the price of admission. Just because I love you all, let me quote you this exchange:
Pro-Hillary Person: Quit complaining, being lazy and grow your own party.
Pro-Bernie Response: You literally entered a blog article that was suggesting exactly what you just said, nitwit, and jumped on people discussing it.
I completely agree with the Hillary Shill just as I agree with the DKOS people who told me they don't need me and don't want me. That's certainly their call to make and I'm pleased that they've been so forthright and clear about it -- an unusual occurrence you must admit. I completely get it that any changes in the Democratic party will be the result of a hostile takeover.
A lot of wanderers in the U.S. political desert recognize that all the duopoly has to offer is a choice of mirages. Come, let us trudge towards empty expanse of sand #1, littered with the bleached bones of Deaniacs and Hope and Changers.

Thank you for this link...
and post as many times as you want. I always enjoy your writing.
The reason I liked the article is because it lays out the outrages and the interconnectedness of the fraud. I have been looking for just such an explanation to share with my husband. (He's in the 'lesser-of-two-evils camp. Sigh.)
I had a stroke about a month ago & it impacted my speech (as well as putting an abrupt end to my smoking, too. Grrrrr). I've been going nuts not being able to respond adequately and growing more frustrated by the day. I'm reduced to slamming doors and stomping around the house. Not good for either one of us. I hope to at least get him to stop poking this bear with his stick. Fingers crossed.
Despair is NOT an option!
Thank you HoosierDeb for reading and commenting
I am so sorry to hear about your stroke. Although your speech may be impacted, your thoughts and writing have clearly survived in toto, hooray for that! I hope you write more.
In one of life's great ironies, my husband has always been the independent iconoclastic voter more than willing to vote third Party if need be on a number of occasions to register his disgust with both parties, while I have always knuckled under to the lesser evilism Dems. I have finally found the strength to care only about the integrity of my vote to reflect my true values and to reject LE, while simultaneously, he has confided to me that this time around Trump is so repugnant that he will most likely vote for HRC as the lesser evil! So I guess we'll cancel out each others votes as per usual.
" “Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough.” FDR "
Freedom to move forward
Today I released myself from the Democratic party, which has held me back for many years, a self imposed prison that I didn't even realize I chose to put myself in. I have voted for the lesser evil too many times and in my soul, I know I can never do this, again. It is amazing, the warmth of hope and empowerment that are flowing through me, from this one simple act. I am not sure who I will vote for, at this point, but I do know it will never be Hillary.
To my great surprise, my husband followed me in freeing himself, as well, today. Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks!
