Why wasn't a real progressive like Sen. Warren not chosen, but a right-leaning DINO like Tim Kaine?
Because TPTB know there is a chance that $Hillary could be indicted/impeached. With Tim Kaine in the wings they may even let/want that to happen. That would provide months and maybe years of distraction as they use their puppet Kaine to do their bidding.

Bernie supporters should revel in the choice
Given what Hillary supporters (and the campaign's paid shills) said about Bernie and his supporters, Hillary in fact picked a typical Bernie supporter according to them. Kaine is after all white, male, and privileged. I am sure some Hillary supporter will say Kaine will be the first Black Vice President.
Kaine is indeed a middle finger to 45% of the party. I also think it is a finger of sorts to her African American and Hispanic base which if you discount the cheating put her over the top. She could have put as her VP choice a progressive African American who would essentially succeed her (if she wins). Regardless, she just ensured the Dems will be torn apart in the 2018 midterm election.

One concern I have is that there a so many voters in the Dem-leaning column who don't follow issues closely, and who are barely tuned in to what's been going on.
I've been hearing Johnson interviewed by both libertarian/libertarian-leaning, and corporatist neoliberal (Smercomish) radio talk hosts for the past month, who are working feverishly to get some of those voters to vote on wedge and social issues--in order to get FSC elected.
