Jill Stein spending six days in Burlington, Vt beginning today. What's up?

Really interesting chess going on. In video below Claudia Stauber gives a very interesting analysis of Bernie's and Jill's recent moves. Take a look at Jill's events page. Vermont is a great place to vacation but the timing here is just a little suspicious.

I'm giving my first Green party donation today.

yet and he's keeping open the few options remaining to him.

By meeting Jill Stein for an extended period, it keeps Clinton from trashing the platform yet and keeps Clinton from assuming her comfortable neoliberal stance.

It's also possible that Stein and Sanders are making final offers and counter-offers and assessing the situation regarding Trump and his perceived distance from the billionaires behind the Republican party.

Who knows? It's more of a good thing than a bad thing in my view and keeps Clinton slightly off balance and more circumspect than she would be.

So many being drawn to the Clinton orbit why not? It is easy $200k or so. Bernie got a book deal woo!

I did lol when I heard Bernie is "also utilizing the enormous power of the Clinton machine that is directly connected to the military, to BigPharma, to BigOil, to Wall Street. Utilizing that leverage to implement as much change as he can." Go Bernie

I think the camera guy swallowed a new speaking matrix! Mmm koooool-aid. Or maybe I'm supposed to think it is Clinton's "make me" FDR moment? Hope springs eternal too bad I'm mortal.

Speculating on what "may" happen to the Clintons is not valuable, almost CT. Let's just wait to see what happens. No sense making these speculative comments.

He lost me, of course, when he said NO TRUMP. To which I reply, NO CLINTON. Trump would do more to destroy the Democratic party "as it stands now" while creating massive disruption to the Republican party.

It is important that those DNC folks around Hillary see the reality that most of us with Bernie will never vote for Hillary...and they can see money flowing to Jill Stein. THE DAY AFTER: Bernie mentions Hillary ZERO times during 23 minute speech

The American Mirror

The love fest between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders lasted about as long as it took to tear down the stage at their “unity” rally on Monday.

Sanders gave a speech to the League of United Latin American Citizens in Washington, DC one day after his appearance with Clinton, and he mentioned her a total of zero times.

That’s zero — with a “Z.”

It wasn’t like he didn’t have time to say “Hillary Clinton.” He had 23 whole minutes.

He has apparently moved on.

that we'll see a two-track effort in the months to come. Bernie will campaign for FSC, and also give speeches/videos to rally his supporters to his cause.

The evening of the endorsement, Jeff Weaver said on MSNBC that he would campaign from 'one side of the country, to the other,' on behalf of FSC. So, I expect that he will be on the campaign trail for her, eventually.

Of course, I would expect him to stay below the radar with a lot of campaigning for her--at least, until after the Convention.

BTW, today was the last day of the current Congressional Session until after Labor Day.

I anticipate seeing a truck load of FSC's Senate surrogates, out and about. I'll try to occasionally post some updates at EB, as I run across them, since my cell phone feed has constant 'horse race' updates.

Frankly, I'm not going to sweat it, as they say. It would be next to impossible to endorse someone, and not campaign with them. What's done is done.

Bernie has a right to work inside the Dem Party, the same as I have a right to choose not to do so.

Of course, I'm far more concerned about the issues, anyway--especially the legislation that 'might' make it through a Lame Duck Session.

Have a good weekend!

We've had Bernie as our mayor, congressman, and senator for nearly 40 years and he is well respected and trusted across political parties here. I don't think Jill would try to tell people to repudiate Bernie, especially those who actually know him. It's more likely she'd try to sell herself as someone who will carry Bernie's ideas forward into the general, since he didn't get the nom. And the state that has elected him for so long might be open to a third-party candidate who share so many of his positions.

Would they, I wonder? Vermonters tend to be fairly independent thinker, I believe.

She's shown no inclination thus far to upstage or throw Bernie under the bus, though. I don't expect that to change.

I was there for Jill's talk tonight and that is exactly what she did. We, the green party and Jill are our only viable, vote in accordance with our values, hopes and dreams and consciences. She spoke about her platform and how it would work. She is smart and as straight a shooter as we could hope for and she is not tied to any need to mince her words to appease any political forces. She was very powerful about ending the endless wars for oil and power and stopping the arming of both sides to perpetuate the worldwide carnage and flood of refugees. She spoke of climate change, student debt, BLMs, the vast damage Bill Clinton's policies did to our country, etc. She has my vote. We will be making our first donation this weekend. It would be very powerful if the DNC started to see Bernie dollars convert to money for Jill rather than increases to Hillary's war chest.

Plus, when one take that other video from the cameraman into account. What does he say that tells us all we need to know? He spoke of the Clinton Foundation. Keep the Revolution Going: Jill Stein for President
The Jill Stein for President campaign is building a movement for an America that works for us all. Sign your name below to let Jill know you're with her.

We the undersigned urge your support – including your voice and your vote - for Jill Stein for President on the Green Party line as an essential, urgent step to continue building a true American revolution.

A movement for democracy and justice is sweeping the planet - from Occupy Wall Street to the Arab Spring to the Black Lives Matter movement. People are rising up to halt the neoliberal assault, calling for an America and a world that works for all of us. While our movement is winning important victories – notably for living wages and against fossil fuel infrastructure – the economic elite have only tightened their grip. People are realizing that if we want to fix the rigged economy, the rigged racial injustice system, the rigged energy system and more, we must also fix the rigged political system.

The toxic 2016 Presidential election is yet another manifestation of the desperate need for deep change. Many have flocked to the banner of socialism and equality raised by the Sanders campaign, while conservative voters have rejected the illusions peddled by Republican elites. Meanwhile the two corporate parties have anointed the two most disliked politicians in the country to be their standard bearers this November.

Jill Stein’s Power to the People agenda reflects many of the domestic policies of the Sanders campaign – income equality, climate justice, free public higher education, Medicare for All, immigrant rights, racial justice and an end to mass incarceration. In other areas, Stein goes much further than Sanders, calling for the cancellation of student debt, full public financing of elections, and the creation of public banks. Her rapid transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030 makes wars for oil obsolete, enabling a 50% cut in the dangerously bloated military budget which has made us less safe, not more safe. Stein offers a foreign policy based on international law and human rights, not economic and military domination that has proven so catastrophic.

While support for the Sanders campaign surpasses that of all other campaigns, the elites of the Democratic Party have stacked party rules to sabotage his campaign, like principled and powerful grassroots candidates before him. The Democratic Party is proving once again that you can't have a revolutionary campaign in a counter-revolutionary party.

Each time a challenger such as Jesse Jackson, Dennis Kucinich and Sanders inspired hope among progressives for change, Democratic Party leaders sabotaged the effort. All the while, the Democratic Party has continued to march to the right, becoming more corporatist, imperialist and militarist in spite of its inspired progressive electoral campaigns. The party’s trajectory has been to fake left, but go right.

As the Democrats shut down Sanders’ campaign, some "progressives" are advocating retreat from electoral politics, suggesting people double down on social movements. Of course we must continue to fight for these movements in every way possible. But if we do not also fight for political power, the battles of our social movements will count for little, as they will be outflanked by predatory elites making our laws, writing our budgets, and appointing government administrators. In the words of Frederick Douglass, “Power concedes nothing without a demand.” We must bring that demand into the halls of power. ...

The rest is, of course, at source.

I have been saying all along, it isn't over until Bernie says it is over; and then, it is only over for Bernie. I have also said that he has to be in it to win it and that means taking it to the end. Stein has opened doors to him that I think he needs to walk through IF the stupid ass Democratic Party doesn't nominate him.

All the people that bad mouth Bernie say more about themselves than they do Bernie. Even if one doesn't agree with him, questioning his motives, calling him names, and personally attacking him is ridiculous. I also don't understand why people keep pushing a false choice between Stein and Bernie. If we can't walk and chew gum at the same time, we beg to be used and exploited by the .01%.

Thanks for sharing this. I have shared it on FB and Tweeter. People need to keep their mind and eyes open, actively support Plan B in case, and let this thing play out. What they can't do is dropout and give up.

Personally I think his decision sucks, BUT that is also with the knowledge that I am not privy to all the information he is or what his strategy is.

I can think of a few solid reasons why it would make political sense for him to do so.

To use an example I had made earlier, if something were to happen that would decrease the chances of Clinton beating Trump and she has to step down from the race he would have a strong argument to make to the DNC to get behind him.

I dunno, there are just too many unknowns, but I think that history reflects the accuracy of his judgement so I am not condemning his action or supporting it, I just wont be following his "Advice" in this particular case. Smile

So, Bernie has done now his duty of being a man of his word and officially endorsed Clinton, but then he did this before the convention and there must be a reason for him having done that.

Next, the DNC will not nominate him, but HRC. That means, Bernie is released of all committments by then, right?

Can he announce after he hasn't been nominated that he would urge all his followers to throw their votes behind Jill Stein? Could he re-register as an Independent right after the convention and start all over again?

As an independent he could endorse Jill Stein, or even run on her Green Party ticket, can he do that? Legally?

Somehow I can't believe that this Micki Willis guy up there did this video on behalf of Sanders' request. That would be so "non-Bernie-ish".

Whatever it is. I wait for an endorsement of Hedges and Nader to SOMEBODY. I mean they can't just talk and then not walk and not making a decision. And if they don't endorse somebody, then at least they should lead in a movement to boycott the vote and all mainstream TV media or whatever. Somehow that all gets a bit ... what word to use...like ..."where is the beef?" May be in the end they endorse Joe's "party of nobody". At last it would mean we all go nuts, no?

they also could have endorsed Sanders, if they weren't so stubbornly determined that one can't endorse someone, who runs on Democratic Party platform. I mean, the way the Democrats have completely sold out to war-mongering, un-social, non-peaceful, unjust causes, I can't blame them. So, now at least they could endorse Jill Stein. And Jill Stein and Bernie could have a romantic date and may heck out some outrageous thingies... Wink

I guess I just don't understand American logic... Sorry, if I said something totally stupid.

I am getting so tired with that.

See, here in the US, if Ralph Nader publicly endorsed Bernie or Jill, they would immediately be poisoned and rendered null and void by his very word and therefore render themselves completely irrelevant. See, after 16 years, Ralph Nader has this amazing power to a certain subset of NeoDemocrats--he is like The Black Death. Or the actual Devil himself. Whatever he touches will immediately turn to shit, and therefore, there is no forgiveness. It's like the ultimate, all-purpose excuse.

None of it is true, none of it. But Some Say it is anyway, that Nadar ran in 2000 and got some votes that made Al Gore lose. For sixteen years, they've been flinging this bullshit. It's almost a joke now, if it were only funny...

If he hadn't endorsed, apparently he would have been stripped of delegate power and his leverage, to be denied any standing at the Convention. I'd think he's unlikely to run as 3rd-Party, unfortunately, since he's already said that he wouldn't.

However, Hillary is still busily engaged in disqualifying herself, while all of the seemingly endless examples of evidence of criminality/gross incompetence/failure to learn from endless 'mistakes' forming existing gross disqualification for the public service at any level might not ALL be blatantly claimed to be a pass for Clintons, if for just about nobody else.

There is no way that this nomination can be remotely claimed to resemble a legitimate election and I'm amazed that The American People are AGAIN accepting the results of not only a known false electoral result but of such a blatantly rigged election. And to then consider voting for the evil the faked result was arranged for?

Received an email from Stein's campaign that is asking us to tell Google to stop eliminating her from searches. People can find her by searching directly, but if you search for "presidential candidates" she doesn't show up.

Every time I try to link to the petition, it keeps coming up with my personal info (it includes my name and says "thank you for signing") so I'm sorry I can't provide a direct link. Please go to www.jill2016.com and sign the petition, so more and more people can find out about her candidacy.

Regardless of party or belief NOBODY wants a third party filtering out what they can see. Sure, it may work to their advantage in the moment, but what about when it's done AGAINST what you want?

I really do wish there as a viable engine out there that was as effective as Google (when they are not fudging stuff that is.) because I would switch to it in a second.

Google, do your job, be a search engine, not a filter for the oligarchy...

What was that they had in their mission statement? "Don't be Evil"?

Maybe someone should remind them that that's in there...

I do a lot of non-political searches for a whole wide range of topics and Googls's search results have turned to crap. I think we need open source, non-profit, social media replacements for the likes of Google, Facebook and Twitter, where all meta data is transparent and there is no penalty for anonymity.

So the European Union's competition commissioner, Margrethe Vestager, has confirmed that the EU has lodged a statement of objections against Google for market abuse over search and its Android mobile platform.

She argues that Google's dominance is not the problem.

Rather, it is what Google does with that dominance that matters: ie, it puts its own businesses such as Google Play, YouTube and Google Shopping ahead of other competitors when customers search for products.

``It is not based on the merits of Google Shopping that Google Shopping always comes up first [in search],'' Ms Vestager said. ``Dominant companies have a responsibility not to abuse their powerful market position.''

If one can push one's preferred clients out front, one can also bury the undesired. I deem Google guilty as charged.

Same here, for about a year too, pro left. Not as comprehensive perhaps as the all-powerful, great director Google god. But I'll take it.

Fuck them both for selling all our data, spying on our emails, demanding access to your entire online life's record in exchange for using their never-ending, new and improved "apps", while conforming our searches to the wishes of the people who pay for not only top bidding but perhaps more disconcertingly for searches to shield their transgressions or public disapproval (such as Hillary's campaign, Fortune 500 companies, etc).

I have their stupid rewards cards, especially for my grocery shopping, because if I don't, I can't take advantage of the sales, which really sucks. For instance, at my local Weis, if I use the card, I can save up to $65 on a $200 bill, and they won't give you those savings without it.

I do limit it to places I shop regularly and that give at least some savings benefit for the pleasure of them knowing everything I eat. Sad

the only grocery store that I had a rewards card with because they don't have a "credit" option when you use your chip card. I don't buy anything on debit because my credit union give me rewards for using credit. I don't buy online, either. But I get what you're saying. When I did shop at that grocery, the savings were worth it. Bye

with The Mad Bomber. They do evil globally. They are neoliberal and neocon. I bookmarked DuckDuckGo and put it on my toolbar right next to google. I was skeptical about it as a search engine. I tested it against google in a political query. I was pleasantly surprised. Instead of getting CNN or WaPo or the Hill etc. the top links were news sources that actually are not propagandists or fear mongers from around the world.

I used DuckDuckGo to research my art OT. Google was impossible as all art links led to Pinterest which was founded by a Google guy. I found links to international and American art museums, art encyclopedia's and articles about movements artists and art history. I still use google as they own a lot of images via pinterest but the bulk of my searches in the last two weeks have been using DDG. I have made it my default search engine. As a bonus they do not track you.

DuckDuckGo vs Google (Impressive New Stats)
https://www.searchenginejournal.com/duckduckgo-vs-google-new-stats/64605/

We’ve covered the DuckDuckGo vs Google war in the past… We know it’s not the closest race in the world but DuckDuckGo released some impressive new stats today that they have passed 2 Million searches in one day!

It’s not compared to the billions daily that Google, Bing or Facebook have but it’s a really good start. What’s most impressive is the HUGE increase and tripple in traffic since January of this year!

TheJerry's picture

Bernie Sanders is one of the most effective politicians in recent history, and everything he does is behind the scenes, and behind enemy lines. The Amendment King got more amendments through more actual work done, even under Republican Congress than anyone currently or recently serving. He is all about chess, he is all about winning whatever he can whenever he can to advance his goals under the most adverse of circumstances.

After watching the "endorsement," and HRC's polls plummeted, as I hoped, I was pretty sure he was up to something to convince super delegates that HRC is a losing cause. He has been saying he was going to do that for several months now. So why would he not be doing exactly what he said he was going to do? He is a man of his word. He said he was going to demonstrate to the super delegates that he was the best choice.

He has also, always said that he will do "everything in his power to ensure Trump is not elected." If it becomes clear to all reasonable people that HRC is not likely to be able to beat Trump, and the super delegates do not see it, then "everything" means third party.

Yes, after the convention, he is free to do as he pleases.

Now add in the Cornel West endorsement, right on the heels of being on the platform committee?

A very clear message. And, plausible because everyone knows that Cornel West is fiercely committed to his beliefs and is known for unexpected moves, so he can clearly do that and send a message to us, but because he's seen by elites as eccentric, Bernie can plausibly deny he is doing anything "Cornel West is a strong opinionated man, like my supporters. I can not tell him what to do"

But it will make SD's nervous. And now Jill Stein is spending her vacation in Burlington? 6 days only book end events. Even if she meets with no one. It will scare the shit out of paranoid DNC people and Super Delegates. They will, rightfully, believe that he is up to something with the Greens (even if there is no known meeting) her being there for that long with that little publicly going on is highly suspicious.

Then, Nina Turner and Jill Stein having a joint event? Then Bernie's rally.

DNC insiders will be shitting bricks as they watch HRC go down the tubes and fears of a third party Bernie ("no, no, I will back HRC as the nominee after a few rounds of voting" and he will) it will be yuge pressure on them.

Remember these are politicians, they are paranoid as hell.

Whether or not he finally goes green, this is at least a huge cudgel to hold over SD's heads.
