Amendment #134: Attempt to write in HRC's Name Into Platform Ahead of Philly
Read this on social media:
These people SO need to jump the gun, that they can't wait a few days to have the nomination be official! What nerve!
I'll cut to the chase that the amendment was withdrawn, thankfully.
The amendment was to write Hillary's name into the Platform as if she is performing all of the intentions of the Party already as President, even though she has not yet received the nomination. It also included a nice dismissal of Bernie and all he (ahem) brought to the table, or something.
The video on the Dem site and also on the YouTube C-Span channel cuts off before this discussion, so it may not exist in many places. Here's what I read which alerted me to what transpired:
BAIT AND SWITCH IN ORLANDO! It is a shame more Bernie delegates did not see the despicable ending to the Orlando Draft Platform meeting it was after midnight and many turned off their TV's. I hope they will take the time if they can to see it. After two long days of hard work and "UNITY"... All the amendments were announced by Malloy as done. Then suddenly one more came up...an amendment affirming and confirming Hillary as the nominee at the very end of the Platform Committee Meeting! .I hope Cornel West and other leaders like him for Bernie saw the demoralizing deception perpetrated at the very end of this 2016 Orlando draft platform committee meeting ! This disrespect has been the norm for Bernie...all along! It appears Hillary's people are more afraid of Bernie than Trump...Will there be more of the same deception from Hillary delegates in Philly?
It was total disrespect to Bernie and Bernie delegates who worked hard for "unity" in the Platform and in Orlando for two days with Hillary delegates. Hillary delegates should be ashamed! BUT BERNIE DELEGATES STOOD UP TO THEM...THE BERNIE DELEGATES AT THE MEETING MUST HAVE MADE HIM PROUD!
Note: The text below the video is not mine and it may not have come from the person who originally posted it, but it attached when I pulled the embed code.
This is the written abstract about the committee work from the Dem page in case anyone is interested - this exchange, of course, is not discussed: https://demconvention.com/news/democratic-platform-drafting-meeting-conc...
Here's what I've found initially on Ilyse Hogue of NARAL who with Randi Weingarten, of American Federation of Teachers proposed the amendment - both have been actively campaigning for Hillary.

This is all against conventional wisdom that
Hillary beat him, does not owe him a thing, that cow towing to his agenda would undermine her base.
If his agenda was all that, he would be the nominee.
All of this ignores the fact the primaries were third world crooked without Jimmy Carter oversight.
"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981
They keep saying Hillary doesn't have to concede anything to him
or his platform because he lost...
They are completely oblivious to the fact that it's not HIS platform, its OURS!
So when they basically tell Bernie to go get stuffed they are saying it to us and yet they are so in a bubble that they don't even realize how much it is gonna cost them...
They shit on our candidate, they shit on our policies, and they shit on us individually and then expect us all to crowd back under the happy corporatism tent with them.
Pardon my French, but they can go fuck themselves.
I am DONE with the DNC....
I can't wait till my #DemExit day.
We really need to get everyone to take pics of their registration change forms and send them to all the SD's and and Dems that supported Clinton in the most public ways we can.
I hope to see their numbers droop below the 25% mark over this... I know it's optimistic but give it a year or so.

"Sore winners"
...was how a delegate I know put it.
I'm not ready to concede that Bernie is not the nominee. A lot can happen in 14 days.

Even if Bernie is the Nominee by some miracle I doubt I will
be staying with the Dems regardless.
They have made it quite apparent that even if he does get the nom they are not going to help achieve his goals.
That is, unless he can perform another miracle and completely get rid of the majority of the corporate Dems in the party by 2020, lol!
They are not going down without a fight and its a fight we really don't need to engage in. The Democratic Party would take more effort to take over than it would to build a whole new party, particularly after this cycle.
It would not surprise me to see both major parties drop below the 20% mark in the next few cycles, particularly if we could transform and redirect this movement towards creating one for 2018 mid terms.
With their typically lower than average turnout the upcoming midterm elections would be the perfect launchpad for a coordinated grass roots effort like that mounted for the Sanders campaign to win vulnerable seats across the nation at both the state and federal level.
But it's gonna take a lot of that Sanders style fundraising and activism, both coordinated and independent to pill it off.
Forming a coalition with the Greens wouldn't hurt either and we do share a vast majority of the same positions, but I fear they may have just a little bit too much negative image problems as well as the potential for infighting from those in the party that would perceive us as interlopers trying to take over their party. (Which to a certain extent we would be.)

Yes, this^^
The Clinton Party will steal from Bernie one way or another, either by denying him the nomination he rightfully won, or denying his ideas while they still have the advantage of the stolen numbers. They're despicable, and I'm done with them.
The democratic party can't be saved, I'm convinced now because it doesn't want to be saved. I think Bernie is sticking this out now not so much because of party rules, but rather because of a commitment to his supporters who have worked so hard for him, and will right up to the moment they put the tiara on Mme Presumptive.
It would be sweet if he broke from the party and joined withthe Greens after the convention. Not sure what would keep him from doing that, if they steal away everything he's worked for. What would be the point of sticking around then?

Dems.......... fuck'em!
I really couldn't give a tinker's cuss about their silly party and ridiculous convention.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
Does anyone know if a party platform typically
includes a candidate's name? I thought it's purpose was to list the positions of the party regarding all the issues. If I'm right, this is truly outrageous, and it probably means there is some fear that Hillary may run into difficulties at the convention. "Unity" may be overstated.
Thanks, MsGrin, for this information.
Every time they say Unity this flashes in my head...

yes you are correct
It is inconceivable that anyone ever expected Hillary to want unity.

cartoon (that we've all been thinking)
The Hilbots withdrew too easily
This was just another slap in the face. Even as the platform stands without this stupid amendment, I could not support it. I have been wondering why all those corporate Democrats chose to anoint Clinton instead of some other corporate clone.
From the Light House.
You wonder why they chose Hillary?
The answer is that no one else has done as much for the neoliberal agenda than the Clinton Crime Family.

Bravo Bernie Delegates!
Nice little scam the Clintonites had going, too. I'm impressed with Bernie's delegates', staying aware of it and calling it out. Because:
1. If by some miracle Bernie manages to become the nominee after all, Team Clinton has already sullied our platform with their corporate grift. So any flaws in the platform's final draft in this case, they'll pin on him and his supporters, as if kowtowing to Wall Street et al was our idea all along. Guarantee you they'll try to rub our noses in it, never accepting any responsibility for their sabotage.
2. If She succeeds in stealing the nomination, she'll crow on for four years (even she squeaks out a win via cheating, and I can't imagine she'll serve twice) about how generously Her Graciousness welcomes Bernie's ideas, and see, aren't you glad you gave realism and pragmatism a chance? Cuz it's her turn, and she won, won, won! And she "gets things done" rah rah!
Crafty they are, these DLC sycophants. I daresay even clever. Once again, Berners have proven they're smarter, though.

We are not even a full week out from Comey's first set of scathing comments about "the presumptive Democratic nominee." Enshrining her name in the Democratic platform could still prove an embarrassment to the Party. (Her as nominee is an embarrassment to the Democratic Party and to the country, but, right now, I am referring specifically to the possibility that she could be disqualified entirely). The convention is almost here. So, why the rush? Because, as it has been all along, it's not about what's good for the USA, for Americans or for the Democratic Party; it's about what's good for Hillary.
I think that's why the Shillary crowd pulled this. To distract
from Comey's press conference and to say to everyone

OMG! You FOUND her statement of 'unity!'
The last version of it was a little less pointed, "we don't need your stinkin' progressive votes.' But it has definitely devolved into the above.

Much of the Clinton machine (most?) is clueless
Hillary sent her zombies to Orlando, that is how much she cares about anything beyond her plan. She has a plan and I'm afraid it like the Von Schlieffen plan. It will get bogged down. It looks great in her exceptional mind but she seems incapable of improvising and you need to prepare for that. I read several of her emails through Wikileaks and her attention to detail is impressive but I do not believe she gets the big picture.
The political revolution continues
I trend toward folk who see big.
Detail people are a nuisance in any organization, sometimes necessary for institutional background, but not POTUS level.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Leaders are definitely big picture people
The #DemExit Day can't come soon enough for me.
I've been a Democrat for about 40 years, but I am done with it after Hillary took it over. I will be a proud Green Party member as I make my #DemExit with a lot of the rest of you.
I hope there will be enough of us who join the Green Party to get General Election Ballot status in nearly every State and Territory. I will make it my mission to assist more disappointed (read: pissed off) Democrats in making their change of registration to the Green Party.
The Greens are fortunate in having a great leader - Dr. Jill Stein is a consummate political representative for the Green Party, and she is selfless in offering Bernie Sanders the Green Presidential campaign slot this election if he wants it. I will so glad to not have to apologize for my Party when I am a Green as their platform coincides with my own.
So, let's have an internet party on #DemExit Day!
Be a Friend of the Earth, cherish it and protect it.
When is this #DemExit day?
I'm looking forward to voting Green.

Thanks for Link, MsGrin
I have to stay registered as a Dem until Sept, as FL has its state primary 30 Aug. This is the day voters in DWS' district have an opportunity to vote for Tim Canova & get him on the Nov ballot as a Dem, progressive Bernie supporter. Unfortunately I'm not in Canova's district though I have been donating to his campaign.
Let's hope this week
that the promised referral for Comey to review charges of perjury by Clinton and pursuant investigation begins post haste!
I hope she gets a monster cold sore.

Can someone explain something to me. Why is the Green Party
having so much trouble getting attention. And what makes people think they are too radical? I am starting to look at them because I always vote, but I sure as hell won't vote for Clinton. I understand why people thought Sanders was radical, because he is. He's radical because he's fair, far sighted, sensible, and humane (although he a would continue Obama's drone program*.)

EDIT: My confusion lies in the fact that nothing the Greens are saying is all that 'radical'. they are far more common sense than radical.
EDIT: On all new meds and my typing skills show it. But the Dr. says it'll be fine in a day or two.

2382 to nominate. She has not won anything yet
2,204 is not 2,382. I guess she might get the votes after the first round at the convention, she only needs 178 more to clinch. Bernie has paltry 1,847 so needs 535 to get the Democratic nomination. There are 713 Uncommitted, what if they all voted for Bernie in the first round? Ha ha I don't know but that would be funny. Today's math brought by the GreenPapers: http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P16/D
My representative in Congress is Jared Huffman CD-2. He endorsed Hillary the day she announced (or nearly then) didn't even give Bernie any consideration. Who won CD-2 California? Bernie flipped the hell out of the County and District, winning 52.9% to 46.4% but he will vote for Clinton at the convention because why? Forget this badly rigged system everyone knows we can do better.
