that we are all jealous now, because you are such a good guy in loving and caring for your sweety, all we can do is say, aww, man o man, you are such a good guy. Enjoy the good times as long as they last, because ... you know, I learned that through your music posts ... let the good times roll... and you know why.

No irony here

ISIS gains are mounting in the Aleppo Province of Syria, with reports of heavy fighting overnight in which they routed the Free Syrian Army (FSA), seizing several villages and approaching the strategically important town of Marea, which is now a key base for FSA forces.
The capture is doubly inconvenient for the US and Turkey, as they have not only been backing the FSA in this region, but this area was a key part of the 60 mile “safe zone” they were intending to carve out of northern Syria, which is supposed to be “ISIS-free.”
It’s less ISIS-free than ever, and it’s largely the fault of the US and Turkey, as this territory was under the control of al-Qaeda’s Nusra Front earlier this month, but abandoned by them at the behest of Turkey, because it was to be a part of this “safe zone.”

Your music takes me back, good tunes; Hoping you have a good weekend.

And a heads-up for those who may be interested: Clinton will speak soon at the Summer Meeting of the DNC, Sanders will speak in the afternoon, around 2:00pm apparently.

Sanders' campaign told CNN: Bernie Sanders will take his anti-establishment rhetoric to the most establishment Democratic meeting in the country on Friday.

According to an aide, the Vermont senator will argue during his speech at the Democratic National Committee summer meeting in Minneapolis that "if Democrats want to keep the White House and recapture Congress and make gains in statehouses, then establishment politics won't do it."

Sanders will call on the DNC to take on the establishment -- namely Wall Street, big banks and corporations -- not be beholden to them.

The event is live on Cspan, now. http://www.c-span.org/video/?327791-101/democratic-national-committee-su...

Have a good day all.

A photo of an exhausted Syrian refugee selling pens on the street while carrying his sleeping daughter has triggered an online campaign that's raised $58,000 — or more than $2,500 per hour.
The picture went viral after it was posted on Twitter and retweeted by Norway-based Gissur Simonarson.
It showed the mystery man trying to earn money to feed his family in Beirut, Lebanon, where hundreds of thousands of Syrians have fled to in a bid to escape the civil war in their own country.
Simonarson was flooded with requests to help, so he set out to track down the refugee with the help of Twitter users in Beirut and the hashtag #buypens.
Within 24 hours he was identified as Abdul, a single father living with his son Abdelillah, 9, and daughter Reem, 4.

to accept more refugees, especially in Canada. It's not as if we don't have the room for them.

I remember after the failed Hungarian revolt, when people in Montreal opened their homes to refugees, my grandmother put her name on the list and I was so proud of her. That refugee crisis pales in comparison to the current one.

tonight and Saturday. I'm looking forward to getting caught in a real downpour. I looked at the weather and it seems the next ten days are all going to be in the 70's. Still feels pretty muggy and hot here but it's probably the lingering heat in the house from yesterday. The weather also said this coming rain will drop 1-2 inches of water. The most rainfall we've had since March. March alarming it was so hot. I walked away from my yard as I face west on a slop and it was unbearably hot to dig and work outside way back in March.

last episode: We'd chased off a squirrel who had a nest in our front porch support beam, only to discover there was at least one baby in the nest. Would Mama Squirrel return? Would Baby survive? If abandoned, where would I take him/her?

Today's Episode!

I looked up animal shelters here in Multnomah County and it looks like they only take in the usual....cats, dogs, guinea pigs and such, but not squirrels. I was prepared to find a dead young'un up there but wanted an alternative to letting him/her loose if the youngster turned out to be alive. Because, you see, Mama had been sighted but had not returned (or so we thought...read on!)

I then found this at the Audobon Society website:

Many of the mammals that are brought to the Wildlife Care Center each year become orphaned by people who have live-trapped and relocated the mother before realizing that she had young. Seal up all possible denning sites in your home before a wild animal moves in. If one has already taken up residence, try and wait until the young begin emerging from the den, and then seal the whole family out at one time.

So that was a clue that the Audobon Society would take a baby squirrel. I read more...

Raccoons and squirrels frequently move their young around and sometimes drop them when spooked. In addition, adolescent raccoons and squirrels are prone to wandering and sometimes get lost. Usually the mother will backtrack and retrieve her young when she thinks it is safe.

It is best, unless the young are injured, to not interfere. Leave the young outside overnight as this is when the mother is most likely to return. Often she will approach and leave several times before retrieving the young. This is her way of testing to make sure that the coast is clear.

I hoped this would be the case. I just got down off the ladder. I had reached in, feeling for anything, alive or not. It was all nest material.

so whew! I don't think they'll come back but we left some nuts for them, just in case.

out and about today gathering nuts or perhaps salting nuts away for winter. Think she moved her baby close by as I spotted her on both of the yards next to ours . We live on urban lots that are really close measuring approx. 50x150 sq.ft. Even though its a city we have a lot of wild life who live here. Squirrels, raccoon's, possums, birds, crows, bugs, butterfly's, bee's we got them. I hope this city remains a healthy habitat and a corridor for wildlife to both live in among humans or to move move through our city from over the coastal mountains to suitable habitats in eastern OR or parts unknown. So glad that we did not kill or destroy a family of critters. They all are part of life worth living and need to be protected and sheltered. So that's one less stress. However with climate change bearing down full blast it's hitting home for both us and the critters we share our space with. 45 mile per hour winds predicted tonight and 2 inches of rain on parched dry land that has not had any significant rain since March. My buckets got a hole in it. Oh dear.
