Music is WAY better than fireworks!!
I already had to ream out the neighbors. They won't be speaking to me tomorrow, but I don't care. I was trying to work and the pets were pitching fits. I don't need that $#I+ 3 feet outside my windows, shooting into the dry grass!! My neighbors are idiots.
If they start again tomorrow night, I'm calling the cops.
Pardon my grouchiness. I wasn't sure if I was going to get in a fistfight or have fireworks aimed at me. I'm still feeling a little shaky. Nice music!

My little dogs are terrified of fireworks so the 4th of July evenings and New Years Eve are spent in the recliner with 3 fur balls huddled, quivering on my lap, loud music playing.
If I can find something faux fur to wear,
can I join them? Then again my extremely over-developed startle reflex may have all you you clinging to the ceiling quickly. Never mind, I don't think I would inflict that on anyone or anything else. it was a nice thought for a moment though.

I have a hard time listening to my Cat/Yusuf albums anymore because they make me cry not for their beauty but for what this country is and was. For what we did to his precious children as they boarded a flight when he came to do a benefit concert for 911 victims.
As to fireworks... I saw a Bernie meme that had a combat veteran with a yard sign asking his neighbors to be considerate on the 4th. There were so many nasty remarks made to the veteran.
This one was the worst:

Lots of comments saying PTSD was just a name for being a sissy.
My country is so filled with trash.
We had a combat vet return in my neighborhood several years ago. He had to live with his mother upon his return because his wife left with the kids after his 2nd or 3rd "tour". He apparently asked several of his Mom's neighbors to please just light fireworks on the fourth, here they do them for WEEKS before and after.... big illegal ones. A month later, we were awakened to cop cars and my phone ringing - my friend said that my block was on the news.
The veteran had done suicide by cop.
America will light more little explosives and I'm a "buzzkill" for stating that those little firecrackers are made IN CHINA by enslaved persons most likely teens and young women.
PS I HATE our fucking anthem. As a sports fan and season ticket holder to a local team.. I HATE having to stand to some patriotic pavlovian must stand or be shamed stunt. Who started this anyways??? Anthems at all games??
Our anthem is nothing but a brutish, violent song.

I breath a sigh of relief when I have learn my cousin has made it through yet another year.
I try to be AWOL at those moments. I particularly hate the pledge of allegiance. For that I just stand quietly until some stupid super-patriot says something, then I say something like: I have family and friends that died so that I wouldn't be forced to pledge allegiance.
Not just the anthem anymore
they now have "hometown heroes" that you have to stand and patriotically clap for. Usually it's some cop or some veteran. I'm getting sick of it. I don't and will never stand for a "cop". I'm awaiting some punk to tell me to stand or clap.

This all after they've patted you down and checked my small purse. But wait.. we got news that they have new and easier cattle corral of a system we can just walk through that will be a new security feature for the season.
