Thomas Frank plus the new Guccifer leaks
Hope you all don't mind me dumping these two different issues in one essay, but caught them all this morning while busying around and thought they were worth sharing.
Here is Thomas Frank talking about his new book LISTEN, LIBERAL!
The subject of my new book is the Democratic Party’s failure over the last few decades to do anything really meaningful about income inequality.
Indeed, they have scarcely dented the free-market consensus at all. This is not for lack of opportunity: Democrats have occupied the White House for sixteen of the last twenty-four years, and yet the decline of the middle class has only accelerated. Wall Street gets its bailouts, wages go nowhere, and the free-trade deals keep coming.
Today he was interviewed on Democracy Now! (each part is about 9 min)

Here's part 2

I'm sure glad to see these issues get some light. And speaking of shedding light, the Young Turks dealt with the new guccifer leaks from yesterday.
each of these are about 11 mins

Don't despair, more is on the way from Assange and wikileaks. The MSM will not cover the issues since they are complicit in the deception. It is up to us the spread the news as best we can. Thanks to JtC and the other founders for providing this avenue of discussion. Try to help them out with a donation if you can.
Sorry to post this and run but I'll be back this evening to catch up on the comments. I hope some of you find these links useful.

I appreciating your posting this
I did not feel safe downloading Guccifer 2's documents to my laptop. Go figure.

I'm already on the FBI list
I associated with New deal socialists and civil rights activist in my youth, and understand I'm still of interest. So I'm happy to download and post the ones that interest you. There's quite a few. Let me know if I can help in that regard. TYTs did a pretty good job summing up the big issues.
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
On the TYT video,
the memos he talks about were released prior to HRC announcing she was running. It would be interesting to do a time line of all materials to see just how accurate HRC's statement is that she quit doing paid speeches prior to her decision to run.
If I remember correctly, her last paid speech was only a couple of weeks before her announcement. If it could be shown that people were already working on her campaign--it would actually be impossible for them not to be considering how well everything was set up for the Victory Fund--before she made that last paid speech, then there is another huge no no on top of the rest of all her doo doo.

Thanks for bringing up actual issues
Thanks for bringing up actual issues. MSNBC and CNN can only talk about how bad Trump is. Issues like income inequality are off the table now that they feel safe ignoring Bernie again.

I'm going to pick up the book
In a short while from the library. I'm far too socialist to pay $12.99 for it
" In the beginning, the universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry, and is generally considered to have been a bad move. -- Douglas Adams, The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy "
The Clinton camp (and DNC) is trying to spin the leaks
from Guccifer 2.0 as being from the Russian government, because then they won't look so bad. Haha.
And cut/paste from Fox
150 times. someone counted.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
I don't understand
I thought this Clintonite got immunity and as such can't plead the 5th?

I think it has to do with overlap of FBI and JW depositions
He has limited immunity from FBI, Jw could nab him on almost anything (double-dipping?).

Immunity is specific
He may have immunity from criminal prosecution for certain acts he may have committed at some point in the past, but if he slips and says the wrong thing in an under-oath civil case deposition, he is likely to quickly discover that lying to the FBI was definitely not covered in the immunity agreement.
Now interviewing signature candidates. Apply within.
As no one really gives a shit about him
let us give him unlimited immunity and force him to testify. He knows the whole deal
They would if they actually wanted to know the whole truth
But this investigation, like every other one the past 53 years, is a sham.
I would expect the speaking engagement rider would be pretty sta
I'm sure most people at her level (i.e. GHWB, Kissinger, W, bigdog, etc)get a similar contract, rate, and riders spelling out transportation, lodging, food, special reqs (i.e. no blue M&Ms), like any big name music act would. Shill's probably represented by the likes of William Morris or Creative Artists...
Looking at Bill' and Hill's fees
Bill got 17% more. Not kidding.

Yes, probably standard.
The reason it is news is that Clinton lied and tried to be all cute about it when asked about the price, and said "That's what they offered."
maybe "they" was her agent
no, I don't support Hill, but I don't think this is as big a deal as some other things that might come out...
No, "they" wasn't. nt
Maybe it's not news
but the real take home message to me is that HRC gave 91 speeches and made $21 million between stepping down of Secretary of State and announcing her candidacy. Most of the speeches were to corporations and other entities with interests in the policies of the next administration. Someone has called it her corporate shakedown tour. Me? I am sure the companies were just interested in her wisdom and were not trying to influence her in any way. Likewise she is above suspicion and I would be shocked if she were in any way influenced by the $21 million.
That is part of it, but the other part
is that she and the DNC were already plotting campaign strategy during the time she was giving many of those speeches. She said later that she did not know if she was going to run. She knew damn well that she was going to run when she was giving those speeches and I am willing to bet she even said so in those speeches.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

Ridiculous
Bernie flies coach.
In other news today, House Dems are having a sit-in
about sinking gun legislation, John Lewis leading the sit-in, Jon Yarmouth on the floor floor, too. So Ryan turns off the C-SPAN cameras, his right.

John Lewis? Wait, somebody better check that out. Did you
actually see John Lewis there? Or was he off fighting for civil rights with the Clintons? Because sometimes that guy is pretty shakey on where he's been and who he's been with.

Too bad Democrats aren't worried about sitting in
and then maybe even standing up for workers and jobs in this country.
These shows of standing up for something don't impress anymore.
It's all bullshit.
No prob, they leave soon for July 4 fundraising/flagwaving

Maybe if they
had a sit in on all the issues the repugs oppose some things might get done that would benefit the people. Never mind , they just want something that will draw attention to them from msm and we all know how interested the msm is on things like the TPP, Healthcare, Income inequality and so on.

We owe Thomas Frank
a debt of gratitude for putting this front and center. I personally think that money plays a bigger role in the corporatization of the Democratic party than he suggests, but to me the fact that the Democratic Party is no longer the party of working people is paramount. Indeed, there is no longer any party that makes the economic interests of working people their top priority.
The peasants have never mattered...
to those in power. They are not seen nor acknowledged. Merely people to do the bidding.
Thankfully some folks are trying to tell that story.
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Well, there is the Working Families Party...
And, yeah, after the Cuomo endorsement I guess you are probably correct. WFP
I wish people would quit spreading this bullshit meme
that there is no party that cares about working people. That's certifiable bullshit. The Green Party is built around the economic interests of working people and a sustainable ecosystem as their top priorities.
I should have said that neither of the major parties
has the economic interests of working people as their top priority. Although working people are not quite the primary focus of the Greens, the policies of the greens would certainly help poor and lower middle class people a lot. The WFP had slipped my mind, but you are right that endorsing Cuomo over Teachout raises questions.
