Stupid Is As Stupid Does

Stupid is as Stupid Does!

Eight years ago, the utterly objective American news industry "covered" the Trump For Dictator Campaign with billions of dollars worth of air time. The editorial slant of said coverage did not keep him from taking over the Republican Party. For precisely the same reason, news of the various criminal prosecutions coincides with growing support for the Orange Fart Cloud among GOP voters.

Happy Guy Fawkes Day!

Observed in the United Kingdom every year on November 5, Guy Fawkes Day—also called Bonfire Night or Fireworks Night—commemorates a failed assassination attempt from more than 400 years ago. On November 5, 1605, Guy Fawkes and a group of radical English Catholics tried to assassinate King James I by blowing up Parliament's House of Lords. The plot went awry and all of the conspirators were executed. Soon after, Britons began to celebrate Fawkes' day by burning effigies, lighting bonfires and setting off fireworks—a tradition that has continued to this day.

Album of the Week 11-4-23

Afternoon folks!

There's a big haul of good stuff this week starting off with 3 (count 'em) 3(!) blues albums. There's albums by Chicago blues guy Eddy Clearwater, Louisiana swamp blues harmonica player Lazy Lester and from the Pacific Northwest there's the Delvon LaMarr organ trio. In the blues-rock category we start off with an often overlooked album from Mike Bloomfield, John Hammond and Dr. John - whenever I used to play it on the air people would call the station to ask what is that? After that there's albums by Robin Trower, and the J. Geils Band.

If all that leaves you feeling like you want to mellow out, there's a lesser-known Van Morrison album and we finish off with acoustic guitarist Norman Blake recorded live.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Friday Night Photos Dia De Los Muertos Edtion

Happy Friday everyone. Hope everybody is doing well. Post any photos, memes, or music you like.

El Día de los Muertos is not, as is commonly thought, a Mexican version of Halloween, though the two holidays do share some traditions, including costumes and parades. On the Day of the Dead, it’s believed that the border between the spirit world and the real world dissolves. During this brief period, the souls of the dead awaken and return to the living world to feast, drink, dance and play music with their loved ones. In turn, the living family members treat the deceased as honored guests in their celebrations, and leave the deceased’s favorite foods and other offerings at gravesites or on the ofrendas built in their homes. Ofrendas can be decorated with candles, bright marigolds called cempasuchil and red cock’s combs alongside food like stacks of tortillas and fruit.
