Album of the Week 4-13-24
Submitted by joe shikspack on Sat, 04/13/2024 - 3:00pmAfternoon folks!
This week there are two solid blues albums one from harmonica player and singer Little Junior Parker and one from Koko Taylor, there's a great zydeco album from Buckwheat Zydeco and in the blues-rock category is an album from the Butterfield Blues Band. For some diversity this week there's a bluegrass album from Jimmy Martin and a great rock and roll album from The Beat Farmers.
Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Saturday Open Thread 4/13/24: Odds and Ends
Submitted by on the cusp on Sat, 04/13/2024 - 6:00amDon't know about your week, but mine was filled with work, and more work. I endured a couple of "exhausted evenings". This weekend is a very welcome respite.
I didn't do any shopping or casual search for prices of staples, other than gas, which did not increase, and milk, which did not increase. Nonetheless, inflation is reported to be steadily on the rise. Tough times ahead, be as prepared for it as possible.
Friday Night Photos Auto Art Edition
Submitted by Socialprogressive on Fri, 04/12/2024 - 5:00pmHappy Friday everyone. I hope everybody is doing well. Post any photos, memes, or music you like.
For most of us our cars are nothing more than a means of transportation. Something to get us from point A to point B. For a few people though, their car is more than just transportation, it's a treasured piece of art created on a metal canvas.
These pieces of art were on display at the Good Guys car show last weekend at the Del Mar fairgrounds.
The Evening Blues - 4-12-24

Submitted by JtC on Fri, 04/12/2024 - 6:00amJohnny was a young lad whose mind was stuck on puppies, fishing, baseball and teasing Jane, his little sister who lived to torment him. If Johnny didn't play the games she wanted to play she would make fun of him and ban him from her playhouse, pointing a wagging finger of superiority and haughty otherness. Johnny hated Jane and she hated him. They didn't see eye to eye on anything and Johnny had long ago decided that Jane was only good for harassing and teasing. Both gave no quarter to the other.
The freedom of the summertime filled Johnny's life with adventure, from sun up to sun down, with nary a thought of the wide world around him. School was a distant memory and he was going to make the best of it while the days were still long. The warm pie on the windowsill, kicking the tin can down the road and pulling Jane's pigtails were the things of a small boy's wonderment. But, the one thing, at the top of the list, that was even better than a birthday cake, even better than the Saturday matinee at the theater, and yes, even better than hitting that home run over the fence into the neighbor's window.
The circus was coming to town!
