What can be done?
Submitted by don mikulecky on Sat, 08/13/2016 - 12:32pmThis is a response to a request by mhagle to provide a summary of the concluding chapter to our book. It is not easy to start at the finish so I will provide this for more discussion. Realize that this is the end of a very careful argument.
Evidence in Psychology for Moving Away from "Self-Interest" in Economics
Submitted by paradigmshift on Sat, 08/13/2016 - 12:10pmThere is a good "economics" website that I stumbled upon a few months ago called Evonomics. I think I found it on a link at Naked Capitalism. One article I found on Evonomics that I really like is: We’re Not as Selfish as Economists Think We Are. Here’s the Proof.

8-12-2016-TYT Politics - Election Fraud in 2016: Is This Democracy? - TYT Politics Reporter Jordan Chariton (https://twitter.com/JordanChariton) spoke with lulu Fries'dat, the lead author of "An Electoral System in Crisis", an extensive 38 page statistical examination of the accuracy of the 2016 primary voting. Fries'dat explains the methodology of the study, as well as the reason why the results that they uncovered showed significant problems in the way that votes were counted. 7-26-2016 - An Electoral System in Crisis - 6 Page Executive Summary - A large and growing body of research provides convincing evidence that U.S. electronic voting equipment in many areas throughout the country is not counting the votes accurately. This could be due to malfunctions in computer equipment that in 43 states is over a decade old, and long past its natural life. However, in many cases, the evidence strongly suggests that fraud is the likely explanation. These problems have been occurring since at least 2004, and are certainly present in the current 2016 presidential primaries.7-25-2016 - An Electoral System in Crisis - 42 Pages - At a congressional briefing on voter suppression, held on April 21, 2016, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Georgia) expressed grave concern about the security of the voting equipment: “There is a very insidious, treacherous and deceitful method of voter suppression, and it has to do with the integrity of the voting process itself… one possibility, and I think it's a very good one, is that someone's manipulating the counting of the votes. Someone is hacking into these computers that tabulate the votes."

Suddenly, some of the msnbc smart folks seem to have noticed that Hillary is hanging with an unsavory crowd, and that some of her policies may not be as wonderful as they thought.

I don't feel like writing anything because I'm sad that Johnny feels the need to sell the place.
Many people over many years talked about building a place like this. But none of them did it. Until Johnny did. He built the site himself. With hundreds of hours of volunteer labor. For which he has never been reimbursed. You can read some about that here.
Now, today, as he says here, the donations
that come in, they "are not even meeting minimum wage scale, not even close." The donations generally come in sporadically, as a result of fundraisers, which are sparked by other people on the site, not him, and, as he says here, "only a relatively small portion of the membership respond to the fundraisers, over and over, the same ones, and many quite generously. But it's not fair that just a few bear the burden of funding this site, especially when I know that eventually these folks will tire of donating." He further notes that "someone a couple of months ago did the math and figured out that if enough members signed up for a monthly installment plan at $5.00 per month that it would possibly generate enough funds. There was a fundraiser to get folks to do just that. We had about 10 people sign up for that plan." What is actually needed, he says, is "$4,000.00 a month or $50,000.00 per year to come even close to what I can knock down with my business."

A case for not voting
Submitted by don mikulecky on Fri, 08/12/2016 - 7:42pmBy voting you are making a statement. It may not be the statement you want to make. It is not exercising a constitutional right nor is it an expression of your freedom in a democracy. That's what you are supposed to believe.
If nothing else has been made clear by this year's fiasco it is that the system will only allow you to choose between the candidates that are preselected for you. This has always been the case but it is stark nakedly obvious now.
