From The Masses: The Munition Maker & Uncle Sam

This month's Masses expressed a few thoughts on the war now raging in Europe. We found the following drawing by Art Young to be especially relevant.

The House intelligence committee just accused the Pentagon of a cover-up, and this may turn into the first major scandal in the War on ISIS.

You wouldn't know it if you weren't paying close attention, but we have entered the largest military escalation since Obama's failed Afghan 'surge' in 2009-2010.
There are three critical differences between that surge and this one:

One of the things that has bugged me for years is the idea that somehow demanding accountability for the death of a soldier is disrespectful to the soldier.

When Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced yesterday that we were conducting ground operations in Iraq "at the invitation of the Iraqi government", he made it sound like we are cleared this with the government of Baghdad.

All over the world people are in universal agreement that the solution to the endless, horrible wars in the middle east is to escalate the levels of violence. All the Republican presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton, leaders from both political parties, foreign leaders such as Putin, Presidents Cameron and Hollande, news media pundits and former generals are speaking in one voice.

With great sound and fury, French President François Hollande has promised to "lead a war which will be pitiless."
He then ordered a mighty fleet of warplanes to bomb Daesh militants into dust.
And drop many bombs those warplanes proceeded to do.

The United States has found itself in bed with a lot of revolting characters in the past 14 years of Global War Against Evil.
Whether it is our Warlord/Drug Lord allies in Afghanistan, our Shia jihadist allies in Iraq, or our Sunni jihadist allies in Syria.
