Malo

Album of the Week 11-30-24

Afternoon folks!

We've got a bunch of good stuff for you this week. Starting off, we've got an album from Chicago blues guitarist Lonnie Brooks, followed by blues singer LaVern Baker with an album of Bessie Smith tunes. After that, we move on to an album of cajun music with Michael Doucet and Beausoleil. Then we've got a couple of blues-rock albums, a late 60's album from Lonnie Mack and an early 80's double album from The Nighthawks. We finish off with some Latin rock from Malo.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 11-9-24

Afternoon folks!

This week, as seems appropriate, we have some serious blues. Starting off, there's a really great live album from Etta James, followed by a compilation from New Orleans blues artist Tommy Ridgely. After that is an album of fancy pickin' instrumentals from the Rev. Gary Davis. Moving into blues-rock, we've got John Hammond's early 60's second album, followed by an album of some hard-to-peg music from Old Crow Medicine Show. Little Feat follows that and then there's some 70's blues/jazz/rock fusion from Mandrill (remember them?) Finishing up is an album from Malo a latin jazz/rock band.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 7-20-24

Afternoon folks!

Anybody out there enjoy blues harmonica playing? If so, it's a good weekend, there's a nice french compilation double-disc set of Little Walter and an album of crusty 1940's recordings of Sonny Terry - some of them with Woodie Guthrie. After that we've got an album of r&b from The Chambers Brothers and a change of pace with Malo. If you (like most folks) have never heard of Malo, if you enjoy Santana, you'll probably dig Malo. After that, we've got some blues rock albums from Robin Trower and ZZ Top's second album. We finish up this week with a fairly obscure album from Traffic.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!
