Osibisa

Album of the Week 4-20-24

Afternoon folks!

There's another dollop of great stuff and you get to decide which flavor you like best. There's some Albert King and some Jimmy McCracklin in the blues category. After that there's albums from African band Osibisa, Van Morrison, Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band, a live Rory Gallagher album and for some diversity, an album from the Red Clay Ramblers.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 11-25-23

Afternoon folks!

I hope that you're all having a great, long fall weekend. This week we've got a blues album from Little Milton in I suppose the middle part of his career when he was recording for Chess records. After that we've got some live zydeco from Queen Ida. Then there's a bunch of blues rock - a double album compilation of early Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer, followed by a live album from Foghat. Then we go acoustic with a double live album from Doc & Merle Watson and we finish up with a change of pace - an album by Ghanaian musicians Osibisa.

Enjoy and have a great weekend folks!

Album of the Week 6-24-23

Afternoon folks!

Surprise! There are more albums. Smile

Starting out, there's an acoustic blues album from one-man band Jesse "Lone Cat" Fuller, followed by another blues album by Little Junior Parker. After that there's the third album by Osibisa (a band from Ghana). Then it's blues-rock time with albums from the J. Geils Band, some members of Foghat between the time that they left Savoy Brown and when they founded Foghat and an album from The Blasters. Then we move on to country rock with a live album from The Flying Burrito Brothers and we finish up with a classical-rock album from Renaissance.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week 6-3-23

Afternoon folks!

It's been another good week for uploading music. This week there's a nice acoustic blues album by Larry Johnson on which he is accompanied on harmonica and slide guitar by John Hammond Jr. After that, there's a nice compilation album of Willie Mabon doing some fine Chicago blues. Following up is some blues rock with the Climax Blues Band, one of their early 70's albums when they strayed less from the blues style than later. Following that is another, my favorite album by Osibisa, a band from Ghana. Then there's some rockabilly with the Stray Cats and we finish up the week with a spacey-prog rock album from Hawkwind.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week - 5-20-23

Afternoon folks!

Well, there's a bunch of good stuff this week. There's some zydeco to get things rolling with a compilation of Clifton Chenier's Arhoolie recordings. After that Taj Mahal and Ry Cooder do their best impression of Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee - not to be missed! Doc Watson follows up with a mid-60's album and we change pace after that with Osibisa. Osibisa is a band from Ghana and worth a listen. Following that there's some rock with Foghat and some rock/prog with The Tubes to finish things off.

Enjoy!
