Vassar Clements

Album of the Week - 2-18-23

Afternoon folks!

It's another good haul this week. I've uploaded a late 60's album from James Cotton and a compilation of harmonica player Junior Parker's tunes. The harmonica goodness doesn't stop there though, there's some early 70's blues rock with the J. Geils Band, the Climax Blues Band and Blues Image's second album (the one with their big hit "Ride Captain Ride" on it). Following that there's a live Emmylou Harris album on which she sings a few tunes that she did early on in her career with Gram Parsons. Finishing up is a double album of Vassar Clements, notably with David Bromberg as a sideman.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week - 7-30-22

Afternoon folks!

This week I've uploaded a Roosevelt Sykes album and a whole bunch of blues-rock from some usual suspects: Savoy Brown, Rory Gallagher & Vinegar Joe. There's also some basic rock and roll from The (early) Small Faces and finally, a bluegrass masterpiece from Norman Blake, Tut Taylor, Sam Bush, Butch Robins, Vassar Clements, David Holland & Jethro Burns.

Check it out and have a great weekend!

I have four albums for you this week.

Also we've got an album by piano and guitar player Henry Townsend and a bluegrass album by Vassar Clements.

Open Thread for April 25, 2016; Happy Title 25

So we're looking at 25 this Monday
25 is 5 squared, and it has no other divisors. It is odd, like the square of every prime other than 2.

25 is the smallest square that is the sum of two smaller squares (9 & 16). Carpenters and others make fact of this property to draw large right angles, since this is a pythagorean triangle, with sides of 3, 4 and 5
