Earlier today there was a conference on "how to build a third party." David Sirota's "Lever" thing hosted it. The advice offered by the presenters was: form a fusion party, work within the Democrats, get Democrats elected. There were some nods toward the idea that their audience was composed of some people who weren't Democrats.
True political movements transcend mere party affiliation.
If you feel the best use of your time and talents is to work inside the Democratic party to further Progressive policies, more power to you.

We need you all!
Whether we admit it or not, the political revolution promoted by Bernie Sanders campaign for President has fallen short of its goal electorally, leaving many of us bereft of hope and direction. The fact that the primary was almost certainly stolen by the corrupt machine of the Democratic party, magnifies the sense of drift and compounds the seemingly endless success of the elites in frustrating even our most modest demands for a more just society.
