Not this asshole again:
Tim Pawlenty announces run for Minnesota governor, again.
Pawlenty's long public record and most recent job as a bank lobbyist will give his opponents ammunition.
Something/Someone Old
My Someone Old today is the poet James Wright.
Researchers in Minnesota have found that 2.7% of students in the state identify as transgender or gender-nonconforming. That is a surprisingly high percentage.
The Minnesota Department of Education has created a toolkit to support transgender and gender-nonconforming students.
Two openly transgender people are running for positions on Minneapolis' City Council this year.
This past Monday Ramsey County (MN) Judge William Leary ruled that trans people on medical assistance have the right to gender transition surgeries.
Transman Evan Thomas, 64, had sued the Department of Human Services over the ban on such services that had been in place.
Minneapolis police have revamped their policies for dealing with transgender people in a partnership that advocates say likely will continue to evolve, but shows that the city is taking to heart how all of its citizens are treated.
Some parents are up in arms in Virginia Minnesota, so much so that they have contacted the so-called Alliance Defending Freedom. ADF has filed another lawsuit against a high school for repecting the needs of a transgender student.
But this one tops the plethora of similar cases ADF has pooped across the country.
