Magic Sam

Album of the Week 8-12-23

Afternoon folks!

I've dragged some more good stuff out of the basement and cleaned it up - starting off with a great Chicago blues album by mandolin and guitar player Johnny Young backed up by Otis Spann and James Cotton (neither of whom need an introduction here i'm guessing). After that, there's a compilation of Magic Sam recordings. Then it's on to some blues rock with albums from The Elvin Bishop Group, The J. Geils Band and Foghat.

Following that there's an album by a later line up of the Flying Burrito Bros. and some New Orleans rock from The Radiators. After that there's a compilation of jazz-blues from Tiny Bradshaw.

We finish up with a jazz album by Bennie Wallace featuring (who'da thunk it?) Stevie Ray Vaughan and Dr. John.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week - 11-12-22

Afternoon folks!

This week we've got some excellent Chicago blues with Magic Sam and another album by a friend of his, Luther Allison. There's a bunch of other blues rock and rock with Hot Tuna (a double, live album), Ten Years After, most of Stone The Crows first album, the tragically under-appreciated Jesse Ed Davis, Van Morrison, Steeleye Span and finishing it off with a large anthology of The Easybeats who are mostly known in the U.S. for their hit "Friday On My Mind."

Enjoy!

Album of the Week 6-18-22

Afternoon folks!

There's a whole mess of great blues here today. There's a compilation of Chess records artists including Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Little Walter. There's also a Chuck Berry album and a Magic Sam album. There's plenty of blues-rock from Rory Gallagher's Taste, recorded live at the Isle of Wight Festival to Link Wray and Dave Edmunds. Rounding out the selection is a Doc & Merle Watson album.

Enjoy!
