Email From IATSE to members re Writers' and Actors' strike

Dear Film & TV Sisters, Brothers, and Kin

On April 28, 2023, I issued a memorandum with guidance to local union leaders and members working in the film and television production industry concerning the rights and obligations owed and enjoyed by IATSE-represented employees working in the industry. I am reissuing the advice today in light of the commencement of a strike by SAG-AFTRA. All the advice set forth below continues to apply:

"The American dream turned into a nightmare."

Maria Butina is now back in Russia after serving 18 months in American gulags after being convicted of, basically, a process crime - failing to register as a foreign agent.

In her first interview after returning home to Russia, she speaks of the nightmare treatment she had to endure from federal agents and the American "justice" system.

In the following video she shows she is an intelligent and articulate woman who simply desired to have better relations between the peoples of both countries - Russia and the USA.

The American media (and the US citizens who blindly accepted the nonsensical McCarthyism of their reporting) should be ashamed of themselves. She also shows how much of American viewpoints are molded by the ubiquitous deep state controlled media in combination with decades of Hollywood stereotyping in forming their belief systems.

Political Implications of the Golden Grope Awards ceremony: Oprah?

This is the #metoo era. I am excluded from that because, well, I am not a female. However, I am cognizant that the majority of the population needs to feel safe in their own bodies. So, does this automatically require that women get first shot at the Presidential Lottery? Let's look back on history, which, by the way, is the only way we can study history. Unless you are Obama, who thinks history should be obliterated, because, as he said "Let us look forward and not back". Yes, Mr.

Anybody catch the Oscars last night?

Say what you will about the movie industry, there's no denying its financial and political clout. For me, watching this parade of celebrities congratulate one another was anything but inspirational. I suppose these hard-working movie makers deserve their day of formal recognition, but I found it a little hard to reconcile an actress wearing a $20K gown with whatever noble aspirations her current project might be associated with.
