George Thorogood

Album of the Week 8-31-24

Afternoon folks!

We've got a bunch of great stuff from New Orleans this week, starting off with Champion Jack Dupree (with Mickey Baker on guitar and Hal Singer on sax) and followed up by a great compilation of stuff, some from names you probably know and other stuff not, all of which is worth a listen. After that we've got an album from Aretha Franklin - some of it is a little schmaltzy, but the rest of it is solid r&b.

After that, it's on to George Thorogood, Blue Cheer, an EP from Dr. Feelgood and J.J. Cale's best album. We finish off with an album from Dutch prog-rockers Focus (with guitarist Jan Akkerman, who's about the same calibre as Jeff Beck).

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 2-3-24

Afternoon folks!

This week we've got Koko Taylor leading off with a late 70's album followed by a compilation of some great Memphis r&b from people that Sun records discovered, most of whom never became famous. After that we have a bunch of blues rock from George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers with a live album, a compilation from the Climax Blues Band in their early years, an early album from DC musicians The Nighthawks and an album from Brownsville Station. Finishing off, in the diversity department we've got a Bob Weir (Grateful Dead guitarist) album from the early 80's.

Have a great weekend and enjoy!

Album of the Week 11-18-23

Afternoon folks!

This week we've got Albert Collins live and an album from Chicago bluesman John Littlejohn. After that, in the blues-rock category there are albums from George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Johnny Winter and Dave Edmunds. Then there's an EP from The Pretty Things from their psychedelic period and a somewhat recent double album to finish us off from Richard Thompson.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week - 5-28-22

Afternoon folks!

I've got a couple of great blues albums by Howlin' Wolf and Memphis Slim with Matt "Guitar" Murphy and a bunch of blues-rock. There's The Animals, Savoy Brown, Ten Years After and George Thorogood. There's also most of a bluegrass album by The Dillards. I'll add the last couple of tunes to the Dillards album sometime Sunday.

Enjoy!
