Well, one good thing out of this set of elections is that medical and recreational drugs did very, very well.
Cannabis
Four additional states legalized recreational cannabis yesterday, bringing the total number of states to 15, plus Washington DC and a number of island territories. The four new states are:
South Dakota
Montana
New Jersey
Arizona
Democracy does not mean merely that we hold elections. Communists had elections. Election campaigns are not the sum total of democracy. Democracy means the elected government obeys the expressed preferences of the electorate. We don't have that anymore. See [EVIDENCE OF DEMOCRACY FAILURE] below.
The ability of the citizens of the US to affect political change by electoral means ended with the 1980 election, when the CIA intervened in the electoral process (The October Surprise).
I missed the furious debate in the comments of last week's essay by gjohnsit, The Free Trade Lie Is Exposed. Ironically, I missed joining in because of an effect of free trade: the crappification of everything. My laptop appeared to have finally blown its power supply.

Medication misadventures, a quaint term. Sounds like one is going on a trip with a few unexpected twists and turns, resulting in an entertaining story. Reality is a little harsher. In 1995 the economic cost of medication misadventures was quantified at $76.5 billion annually.
Inspired by Bernie today... so I decided that it would be fun to think about the political parties and their various characteristics. I finally realized that they all have effects and general ways they make people react. Yes, they affect some people differently than others, but in the end, they all aim to alter your behavior and outlook.
The Political Parties and Persons are DRUGS. And it's pretty obvious which ones they are when you think about it.
I decided that I'm going to do an essay about things that STILL bug the hell out of me. These have been "Settled" for a long time among my political circles, but they're things that every time I think of them, make me go "There's something WRONG here." I bring this up because there are a lot of accusations of Conspiracy Theory brought up when even the hint of questioning the official story comes up.
So, I find myself in the need to explain a few things about myself. I went kinda dark at The Other Place for a while because I was running into the problem where the only time I was getting positive feedback was when I did stories mocking those against Gun Control.
Ah, I was so much Older then, I'm Younger then than now. I knew so much about where I needed to be and where my PLACE should be.
