The Iowa Democratic Party has changed the rules significantly, and comment on some of the change proposals closes March 13, 2019. Yes, the page is in support of Tulsi, but it would apply equally to Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren supporters, or whomever you support.

Chances are that if you've ever had a disability, you've probably had to deal with disability services and all the red-tape, condescension and down right infantilization that often come with them. And if you're born with acquired disabilities, it actually ends up being a hell of a lot worse. You're never truly seen as a grown up in the eyes of the 'normal' folks, and in many cases it's you who has to make concessions for them, not the other way around.

I just posted my GBCW diary at TOP. When I said I wouldn't be posting disability stuff there, I meant it. With that out of the way, I'd like to start something new here: The Disability Caucus.

During Maine's Democratic Party Convention an amendment was submitted to the rules that would change the way super delegate votes are distributed.

The new rule, which passed to by a voice vote and chants of Bernie!Bernie! also included a call for other states to do the same in the conventions that follow.

This could be a BIG DEAL...

So, Humboldt County has a population of around 14,000, and went about 70% for Romney. There are some Democrats and left-leaning to leftist independents around though, and we're pretty strong for Bernie. Our caucuses elected 53 Bernie delegates and 27 for the other Democratic candidate. I've never caucused before, nor have I attended a party convention, so what follows are my first impressions of the process.

Hubby and I went to our caucus tonight. I didn't get off work until about 6:15; traffic was crazy and we had to park several blocks away so we didn't get there until almost 7. The line snaked through the parking lot and down the street a bit, but the line moved pretty fast.

I attended my precinct caucus in Minnesota on Super Tuesday. In fact, I was a Bernie Sanders Caucus Captain. Bernie took my county, Hubbard, with 55% of the vote, compared to Clinton's 45%. At our caucus, delegates to the county convention were chosen. Last Saturday was the county convention.
