Canadian News: Canada To Build A Wall If Trump Wins (AF edition)

Last evening, the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs minister, Stèphane Dion, announced a two-phase plan should Mr. Trump win on Election Day. The first phase would be to "thicken" existing border crossings. This phase could cost up to $10 billion over two years. The second phase would begin after a governmental evaluation following the mid-term elections. Should it be clear to Canada that a wall would be required, construction would begin at an eye-popping $20 billion, over four years. More below. (Meh, no one likes Canadian April Fool's humour. Oh well. "G, you turkey" :=) I get to laugh at myself: that works well too!)

A Dark Chapter in trans treatment whimpers to a close

One of the most prominent clinics practicing reparative therapy in North America, Toronto's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is closing its Family Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) after an independent review by a team of outside psychologists.

The investigators found that GIC still used antiquated practices with an anti-transgender bias.

Lead reparative therapy proponent, Dr. Kenneth Zucker, who has headed the GIC for over 30 years is, according to officials at CAMH, "no longer at the institution."

Vituperation in Edmonton

The Edmonton Catholic School District has been trying to come up with a policy about transgender students, as required by the Alberta Ministry of Education.

The result, as you might imagine, has been a lot of screaming and shouting.

Lead transphobe has been Trustee Larry Kowalczyk. Back in September his statement about the possibility of a policy was:

I see that as a mental disorder, my faith sees it as a mental disorder.

My stand is with that of the church. God has not made a mistake in the gender of me, or you, or anyone else.

--Kowalczyk

In the earlier interview, he compared transgender people to those suffering from schizophrenia and dissociative identity disorder.

The Pump don't work...

...cause the vandals stole the handle.

A group of graffiti artists (BlakCollectiv), led by Kalkidan Assefa, created an impressive, and legal, mural during Ottawa's Pride Week honoring transgender women of color who had been murdered during the past year.

On Wednesday night an unknown person or group who were offended by the memorial spray painted over much of the mural and added these sentiments:
