Canadian News: Canada To Build A Wall If Trump Wins (AF edition)

Last evening, the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs minister, Stèphane Dion, announced a two-phase plan should Mr. Trump win on Election Day. The first phase would be to "thicken" existing border crossings. This phase could cost up to $10 billion over two years. The second phase would begin after a governmental evaluation following the mid-term elections. Should it be clear to Canada that a wall would be required, construction would begin at an eye-popping $20 billion, over four years. More below. (Meh, no one likes Canadian April Fool's humour. Oh well. "G, you turkey" :=) I get to laugh at myself: that works well too!)

Good morning my dear c99 friends. Happy April fools Day! Enjoy the day :=)

Because that's how we know if they're really serious about this. No Serious Country would pay for their own wall, you know.

I wonder if the $10 billion includes the 2 billion we are coughing up to pay for the new border crossing in Windsor/Detroit? On both sides of the border!!! That's right, this is no Aprils fools joke, Canada is paying for it all, including on the US side. It would surprise no one that the repubs in Michigan fought it tooth and nail on behalf of the current owner of the Ambassador Bridge. Did I mention Rick Snyder? Frankly, anything, including scaling a wall, wading through a mote filled with alligators, my mother-in-laws cooking, anything!! would be preferable to using the Ambassador Bridge ever again and giving one nickle to Manuel "Matty" Moroun.

for a set of giant defibrillator plates on the least-secure border crossing in the east of North America (save that big area of woods to walk through) at Cape Vincent NY to Wolfe Island Ontario.

Drive yourself and any vehicles between them and there is a monitor for beta and gamma radiation to detect bombs or radioactive humans (woe be to those who are"hot" from heart scans or chemo). The good news is that the plates aren't activated to crush vehicles or humans, just set off alarms to the people with guns (US side only) can shoot you dead.

So between remote cameras and this sort of sniffing device the US has already paid enough.
