European Meltdown and Rapid Fire Actions

Open Thread Image.jpg

The Trump administration is busy. It's difficult to keep up with the divergent paths of action from them. This week we had the good news that both Tulsi and RFK were confirmed. I enjoyed both Hegseth's and Vance's speeches in Munich, and the resulting globalists' outrage. Trump spoke extensively with Putin and they plan to meet in Saudi Arabia as Russia continues to gain ground in Ukraine. To my mind, the drone strike at Chernobyl was probably a false flag by Ukraine. The D.O.G.E. movement seems to be gaining speed and the support of the majority, despite the Demwit's fight against it. This week NED funding was suspended. The wall is being built again and many deportations are happening. The Gaza ceasefire remains tenuous with hostage exchanges still occurring. Plus we had Taibbi and Shellenburger testifying again in congress this week. Is your head spinning yet? All this and more below the fold...

Attention shifts big time to Europe today. Partly because of JD Vance’s speech, partly because of the Munich Security Conference as a whole. Europe’s self destruction is here for everyone to see.
JD Vance Gobsmacks NATO (Larry Johnson)
If Pete Hegseth’s Wednesday gut punch was not enough to rile up the European grifters, JD Vance jumped into the ring and did a body slam in a speech today at the opening of the Munich Security Conference. It lasted approximately 20 minutes and was met with mostly stony silence. The Eurocrats were not a happy lot. Vance made the following key points:
1) Internal Threats: Vance argued that the primary threat to Europe comes “from within,” not from external actors like Russia or China.
2) Free Speech: He accused European governments of censoring free speech and retreating from fundamental democratic values.
3) Immigration: Vance described immigration as the most “urgent” challenge facing European nations.
4) European Defense: He briefly mentioned that Europe must significantly enhance its own defense capabilities.
5) Ukraine Conflict: Vance touched on the Ukraine war, expressing hope for a “reasonable settlement” following President Trump’s announcement about initiating peace talks with Russia’s Vladimir Putin.
...
Vance was especially tough on the Europeans for meddling in Romania’s election, which left the crowd steaming: “Several times in his speech, Vance singled out Romania, which late last year annulled its elections due to alleged Russian interference uncovered by Romania’s security services and is scheduled to hold them again. “You can believe it’s wrong for Russia to buy social media advertisements to influence your elections—we certainly do—you can condemn it on the world stage, even. But if your democracy can be destroyed with a few hundred thousand dollars of digital advertising from a foreign country, then it wasn’t very strong to begin with,” he said.” I think this was the first time in the history of NATO that the assembled poohbahs heard a speech like this. The reaction was comical, at least from my perspective as an American. Germany’s Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, did a good imitation of Claude Rains, who played the police inspector in Casablanca.
Pistorius fumed: “This democracy was just called into question by the U.S. Vice President, not just the German democracy but that of Europe as a whole’, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said at the Munich Security Conference on Friday. ‘If I understand him correctly, he compares the condition of Europe with what prevails in some authoritarian regimes … this is not acceptable’, he added
...
The European Union, as an integration bloc, and nearly all of its member states have become an extension of NATO, obediently following Washington’s directives. In this regard, the situation surrounding the sabotage and “investigations” of the Nord Streams is more than revealing.
Further confirming this is the vague comment from NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about whether Putin’s phone call with Trump constitutes a “betrayal of Ukraine” by the West or not. Both the question and the answer are meaningless. Let me repeat: The West betrayed Ukraine when it obstructed its democratic transition and independence, interfered in its internal affairs, pitted Ukrainians against Russians, incited Slavs against Slavs, then initiated an unconstitutional coup, lied about implementing the Minsk agreements, and ultimately provoked a bloodbath in the region.“

Larry discusses the Trump Putin call and the Hegseth speech in Munich. (36 min)

Trump's Truthsocial:
I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. We discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, Energy, Artificial Intelligence, the power of the Dollar, and various other subjects. We both reflected on the Great History of our Nations, and the fact that we fought so successfully together in World War II, remembering, that Russia lost tens of millions of people, and we, likewise, lost so many! We each talked about the strengths of our respective Nations, and the great benefit that we will someday have in working together. But first, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine. President Putin even used my very strong Campaign motto of, “COMMON SENSE.” We both believe very strongly in it. We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other’s Nations. We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now. I have asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Director of the CIA John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Ambassador and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, to lead the negotiations which, I feel strongly, will be successful. Millions of people have died in a War that would not have happened if I were President, but it did happen, so it must end. No more lives should be lost! I want to thank President Putin for his time and effort with respect to this call, and for the release, yesterday, of Marc Fogel, a wonderful man that I personally greeted last night at the White House. I believe this effort will lead to a successful conclusion, hopefully soon!

Talk about over reacting...
Scholz said that the “Bundestag should adopt a resolution as soon as possible, whereby the war in Ukraine and its grave consequences for Germany’s and Europe’s security are classified as an emergency situation.” He explained that this would ensure that aid for Ukraine, “which is more important today than ever, no longer comes at the expense of the other duties that our state has to fulfil towards its own citizens.”

French President Emmanuel Macron just ahead of the start of Friday’s Munich Security Conference, which will run through the weekend, declared that only Ukraine’s President Zelensky can negotiate with Putin. It was a shot across the bow warning against Trump’s peace plan, the contours of which are beginning to show, with the French leader saying it could amount to “capitulation” if Russia isn’t forced to make any serious concessions. Macron warned in a fresh interview with the Financial Times that a “peace that is a capitulation” would be “bad news for everyone” – including the United Sates and that fundamentally it must be the Ukrainians driving the talks. Yet the reality is that Ukraine is not in the driver’s seat on the battlefield, where the conflict is being decided. And the outcome of talks is going to reflect this lack of true military leverage.
Talk about delusional.

The UK lost it too, with PM Stamer say Ukraine WILL join NATO...

Danny speaks with London based Ian Puddick (56 min)

The European Union was never in the driver’s seat on the Ukraine conflict. And now that same toddler sitting in the back with the plastic Fisher-Price steering wheel is throwing the kind of full-blown crimson-faced meltdown that makes adults chuckle. How many times was the EU told, including by its own citizens with sledgehammer subtlety at the ballot box, to stop kissing Uncle Sam’s butt and start covering its own? Instead, its leaders cribbed America’s talking points, completely oblivious as they indulged in economic seppuku. The EU’s entire economy-wrecking “strategy” over Ukraine was based on the fantasy that they were America’s little bro, not being used as naive pawns in a grand game that would knock them right off the chessboard.

How The US Made Western Europe Its Puppet
The idea that Washington would risk its own survival to defend European states from Russia is laughable. Even those who have sacrificed much of their sovereignty—such as Germany, Britain, and Italy, which host US nuclear weapons—have no real guarantee of American intervention. Their servility has bought them nothing but subjugation. This reality is well understood in European capitals, though few admit it openly. Instead, Western European leaders continue to act in ways that serve American rather than national interests. Washington views Europe as little more than a base for operations against Russia—its primary value being its geographic location. The US will never sacrifice its own security for the sake of its European vassals.

Tulsi Confirmed As DNI, With Glitchin' Mitch As Lone Republican 'No' Vote

She's been subject to years of media attacks branding her a 'Kremlin agent' and 'Assadist' etc... For example, right up through the vote The New York Times was running its smear campaign, but she's long risen to popularity among military members and veterans especially, given her no compromise approach to blasting America's regime change wars abroad in the wake of Bush's Iraq war, taking neocons and liberal interventions alike to task.

Kennedy, the founder of the Children’s Health Defense, has gained prominence in the US for questioning the safety and effectiveness of childhood vaccinations and promoting the claim that vaccines are linked to autism. He was also a vocal critic of the Covid-19 response measures recommended by the World Health Organization, including the strict lockdowns and rapid rollout of vaccines. Despite this, Kennedy denies being opposed to vaccination, noting that his own children are immunized. During his confirmation hearings, he stated that he simply advocates for stricter studies and safety testing of vaccines.

Trump Establishes Make America Healthy Again Commission
Hours after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gained Senate confirmation as secretary of Health and Human Services, President Donald Trump signed a new executive order establishing the President’s Commission to Make America Healthy Again. Trump made the announcement on Feb. 13 in the Oval Office, where Kennedy was sworn in by Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. Kennedy will serve as chair of the task force, which will investigate the “root causes of America’s escalating health crisis,” including childhood chronic diseases, according to a White House fact sheet. Within 100 days, an assessment of the childhood chronic disease crisis will be released, the executive order said. The investigation will target the “over-utilization of medication” and also highlight the impact of food ingredients and chemicals along with “certain other exposures.”

The solitary figure who remains absent on the playing field is Kash Patel, and you can tell by the delaying tactics employed by the Party of Chaos that they (and their blob allies) dread the coming day that he gets confirmed to lead the FBI. I think Kash will get through with the 52-48 margin of Tulsi and RFK.

Who Will Rule? An Elected President or an Unaccountable Judiciary?
The Democrats are using the judiciary to cover up their corrupt operations and theft of taxpayers’ money. If you will notice, the slew of judges countermanding Trump’s executive orders are themselves issuing executive orders, and they are doing so with no reference to law. Instead, they are ruling that Trump’s executive orders are harming someone, including illegal immigrant-invaders who are not US citizens. This is outrageous. Harm is a subjective standard. Moreover, the judges are overlooking the harm that their rulings do. What can Trump do? Like Andrew Jackson, he could ignore the judges. He could order the federal marshall’s, who report to the president and not to the judiciary, to cease delivering the judges’ edicts and to stop providing any service to the judges other than life protection.

I don’t think Trump is serious about the Ukraine/Russian conflict.

After the fighting is over Trump would send US troops to guard its minerals.

The US could send troops to guard Ukraine’s rare earth minerals, which it wants as repayment for American aid, NBC reported on Saturday, citing unnamed officials.

Somehow I don’t think Putin is going to agree to US troops in Ukraine. Pretty sure that would be a deal breaker.

Does Trump really understand what Russia has been complaining about in regards to NATO, ect?

federal agencies as he is. It’s not only ruining a lot of people’s lives because suddenly they are out of their jobs, but it’s wreaking havoc on the needed federal agencies. The IRS has fired 9,000 temp workers who help during tax season and the national parks are in total chaos because they don’t have enough workers to run the parks and keep them safe. @snoopydawg @snoopydawg Apparently, according to the SSA's records, there are billions in benefits being paid out to 140 yr. olds! A few of the recipients are over 200 years old! And there are more active SSNs than citizens in the entire country - by 40 million or so!!! It's possible that eliminating the fraudulent payouts of benefits could save over $700 Billion/yr.

@Bring Back Civics I just cannot understand the fatalism and and criticism of DOGE (not you, Lookout; your compilation was even-handed and reasonably positive). Before anything can be done about the obscene corruption in the federal agencies, they need to be audited. That's all DOGE is doing -- with a bunch of semi-autistic tech geniuses, most of whom are pretty young. This is obviously long overdue and frantically opposed by the Deep State. There are literally billions being paid out on an "autopay" basis, and apparently the description field on those payments is often left blank and is not mandatory. This is just corruption, plain and simple. I had just assumed in recent years that the Social Security fund had been stolen. Now I believe it is salvageable -- once as much as $700B in annual payouts is determined to be fraudulent and ended. I'm sorry, TDS crowd -- this is good news. Actually, I'm sorry/not sorry.

and get off your high horse. Yay…DOGE found some corruption in social security payments. Does that equal the number of lives that have been ruined when tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people have suddenly found themselves out of the jobs they’ve been diligently working at for decades?

If you bothered to read further the doggies are trying to bring back the workers they just willy nilly fired from the nuclear agency. How many other critical people have been fired that are actually needed to make this country work? How long will it take to fix the errors being made? How many people will be hurt until it’s fixed? Where’s your compassion for thousands of people who now unemployed due to no fault of their own? And will DOGE go after the bigger agencies that account for most of the theft? They’re going after Medicare and social security, but will they touch the 3rd rail of Medicare advantage where the real theft and fraud are happening? Will they go after their fellow oligarchs?

The FAA has been critically short of workers and especially in air traffic control and thousands have been let go on the day there was another airplane crash.

Let’s talk about the already shortage of workers in the national park system. Thousands of workers have been fired when more people are visiting them than ever before. That hurts every day Americans. People can’t make reservations to visit parks. Does any of this bother you?

Hope you aren’t expecting a tax refund any time soon because Trump just fired the people who join the IRS during tax season to help with the load. Don’t bitch here if it’s delayed.

As for me having TDS. Are you saying that Trump shouldn’t be criticized when he screws up? Fck putting him on your pedestal.

He’s doing great in trying to end the Ukraine war. He’s totally fcking up in trying to ethically cleanse Gaza. I’ll praise and criticize him as I see fit and I don’t need your permission to do so.

BTW I thought you had enough of this site criticizing Trump and you were leaving?

Don’t just come here to lecture us and bitch about us calling out Trump if we see fit. Your once a week or monthly visits miss a lot of what people here say. Maybe you missed what Joe said last time you threw your hissy fit. Check the replies to your comments.

I filed our taxes on February 8, and received our refund (the first refund in over 30 years!) via direct deposit this past Saturday. So I would certainly counsel anyone who is a) expecting a refund and b) can possibly file early, to do so before the processing pipeline falls apart...

Saw him land at the airport. Can hear the military fly by. Guess they'll have to do the low altitude routine. The C-5 brought the motorcade, etc. Wonder if they'll do an audit on these dog and pony shows. Maybe he'll give a speech on climate change. I'm with Brian and WW. What could go wrong with a government where the billionaires simply drop the mask and run things directly.

throughout US history. Today largely by purchasing the politicians. Now it is more blatant with Trump, Musk, Vivic, and so on. I find it humorous to see Gates, the Zuck, and Bezos all kissing Trump's ass.

Thanks for coming by. I saw that the Trump pony show was at the Daytona 500 today also, and you're right...it is a colossal waste of money.

I have a couple of hour's work left to get my tax info organized and sent to my preparer. That leaves me lots of time to check out all the info you have rounded up for us. Good work, friend, as is your way.
I will say, the confirmation of USAID giving $ to dkos proved yet another conspiracy theory to be an actual conspiracy.
More to come, dear friend!

It’s never democrats fault for their never doing what they promised they’d do if the voters just gave them enough of a majority. Nope it’s still somehow the voters fault because…..reasons. Fill in the blanks.
I see the same names every time.

Ha ha on Kennedy’s lawsuit going forward. Kos is very lucky that there aren’t more people suing him for defamation which I see every day.

Hunter Biden was praised for kicking his drug addiction, but Kennedy is reviled for doing the same and besides he has a dead worm in his brain. Ghouls!

The hard core partisans on both sides cannot see any bad policies done by their respective parties.
Now, as to which "independent" new websites are being funded, we shall see. I am now suspect of Naked Capitalism.I ran across some info that Ives was sort of hooked up with an NGO or globalist, can't remember details. The comments shut down was discussed on The Burning Platform. I think that is where the info, true or not, came from.
I slept since then.
Wonder how they will get their funding henceforth? A more secretive way?

I was a newcomer to the orange Satan in 2016 with the Bernie movement. When they kicked all the Berniecrats out, it was obvious it was designed as a propaganda site, and I've never even gone back to see their BS. However, I'm grateful to have found my way to C99 because of the expulsion.

As an aside, what a disappointment Bernie is.

@Lookout how many people are working in the CIA. We have never been told their budget. We have never seen their income on the international drug trade.
For all we know, the drug trade earns them more than our tax dollars pays them on the books. If that is so, we will never know what their take in the trade is, or how the income is spent, as it would be off the books, impossible to audit.

A government agency is working to get people addicted to drugs and if they kill them then hey that’s the price of doing business.

Remember how bad the opioid epidemic was and yet the FDA did nothing. Well that’s not true. They went after legitimate people who replied on opioids just to have a life. My doctor is still jumping through hoops every month to prescribe mine.
Take them away and no more daily walks for Sam. And me. Getting out in nature every day keeps me sane.

Thank you so much for this treasure trove of items to study in the midst of so much going on, as you said.

This particular part is a concern I've had. What makes war and all the costs that come from it possible for the American taxpayer is our printing press that keeps printing money for harm. In this quote, I wonder if Scholz is suggesting Germany should begin printing new money for war.

The guy said that DK changed its view on war in 2016, but I beg to differ. It changed when Obama was elected and he continued the Bush wars and started the ones in Libya and Syria and elsewhere. I’ll never forget being told that Obama using drones to kill people was acceptable because it saved our troops lives. And was there much flack about his kill list Tuesday or the killing of 2 Americans?

Nary a word about the lawsuit going forward. And like I said, little Markos should start cracking down on the members who have fun defaming people they don’t like. The disclaimer on the top of each diary didn’t save down easter from the lawsuit. I remember when kos discussed that right around the time NewsGuard was created.

Great article by Glenn Diesen

The West has championed narratives that were intended to signal support for Ukraine. Fake narratives were created to preserve the war enthusiasm in the West and mobilise public support for a long war. Governments, the media and fake “NGOs” claimed for three years that Ukraine was winning, Russia was taking more losses, the Russians were running out of weapons, the Russian economy would collapse etc. These were all lies, and those who threatened the narratives with facts were smeared, censored and cancelled.

The reality is that only a small minority of Ukrainians wanted NATO membership before 2014, and NATO knew it would likely trigger a war. The Western-backed coup in 2014 that toppled the democratically elected government was unconstitutional and did not have majority support in Ukraine. The CIA, MI6 and the government they installed in Ukraine began covert operations against Russia from the first day after the coup, before Russia took Crimea and a revolt started in Donbas. NATO and Ukraine sabotaged the Minsk peace agreement from 2015 to 2022 even though they had accepted it as the only path to a peaceful settlement of the conflict. Zelensky’s landslide election victory in 2019 based on a peace platform was reversed following threats from Western-funded “NGOs” and right-wing groups. The US and NATO rejected Russian demands for security guarantees in 2021 even as they knew Russia would take military action without it. The US and UK sabotaged the Istanbul negotiations in 2022 in which Russia would have pulled its troops back in return for Ukraine restoring its neutrality – something both Russia and Ukraine agreed to. Then, the NATO countries boycotted all diplomacy and rejected any negotiations to end the war for almost three years as hundreds of thousands of young men died needlessly on the battlefield. Promises of future peace NATO membership after the war motivated both the Ukrainians and the Russians to keep fighting. Russia can, for example, accept that the historical Russian city of Odessa remains part of a neutral Ukraine, but will annex the region if it risks ending up as NATO territory and a front against Russia. Even now that the war has been lost and a majority of Ukrainians want negotiations, there is still opposition to peace negotiations in Europe. This has all been done under moral slogans and the banner of “supporting Ukraine”.

Zelensky and the European vassals are upset that Ukraine will have to give up territory. Too bad that they rejected the peace treaty that was offered in 2022 when Putin was offering Zelensky no territory would be lost. The war could have ended after 1 month and millions of people would still be alive and the country not left in ruins.

As for Russia in Crimea does anyone think that America would allow a Russian naval base in Mexico? Putin didn’t conquer or annex Crimea. The people there voted to join Russia. America set the precedent for this in Yugoslavia.

And that’s not a strong enough word to use for the plan to use terror attacks against Russia if the Ukraine war ends.

https://thegrayzone.com/2025/02/15/secret-nsc-plans-ukraine-resist/

The intelligence cabal made clear they aimed to achieve the same psychological impact as the world’s most notorious terrorist organization, declaring, “we need to take a page from ISIS’ playbook in agilely communicating our message to Russians.”

Guys in universities and think tanks are paid to come up with heinous plans to kill people. Think any of them had spent time putting their asses on the line?

As I often tell Sam, humans are a sick mammal and gawd made a mistake putting them in charge of the world. She agrees with me.

My buddy used to sing this one. He said this week he struggled to recapture it. Reckon we're at that stage of life...recapturing .

Love that old Jimmy Rodgers stuff.

Another one we used to sing seems appropriate too.

[Verse 1]
There's a big brown cloud in the city
And the countryside's a sin
And the price of life is too high to give up
Got to come down again
When the world wide war is over and done
And the dream of peace comes true
We'll all be drinking that free bubble up
And eating that rainbow stew
When they find out how to burn water
And the gasoline car is gone
When an airplane flies without any fuel
And sunlight heats our home
One of these days when the air clears up
And the sun come shining through

[Pre-Chorus]
We'll all be drinking that free bubble up
And eating that rainbow stew

[Chorus]
Eating rainbow stew with a silver spoon
Underneath that sky of blue
We'll all be drinking that free bubble up
And eating that rainbow stew

You don't have to get high to be happy
Just think about what's in store
When people start doing what they oughta to be doing
They won't be booing no more
When a president goes through the white house doors
And does what he says he'll do

Good night friends....

Trump is hurting a lot of people and families and how many of the government jobs transfer to private ones?

75,000 people took his early retirement offer. 9,000 alone from the IRS have been fired. How many more thousands have been suddenly unemployed and what effect will that have on government services?
I wish that every person had taken early retirement and brought the government to its knees.

I would feel much better about this if it wasn’t a billionaire taking the axe to our government workers. And I’m leery about the goal of all this is to privatize more of our public services. It’s too much too fast for my comfort.

The red wedding is the right description of what is happening.

Go to the article and see how many people have been fired. It’s definitely a red wedding blood bath. But both the MAGA folks and shitlibs are cheering this. MAGA because they hate the government and shitlibs because they hate the people who voted for Trump. FAFO baby!

that congress members only pay $54 a month for high quality healthcare? And that they have private doctors who make house calls to treat their ever increasing geriatric patients?

https://prospect.org/health/2025-02-12-aging-members-congress-office-of-...

Meanwhile both sides are voting to cut funding for Medicare, Medicaid and food stamps. DOGE should have taken an axe to congress and cut 75% of the members who have no intention to help we the people.

This should irk every person in America, but the chances of them finding out is slim to none. And this is what the corporate media should be covering, but that would hurt their employers.
