This year I have been spending my mornings helping my 18-year-old son cram for his GED tests. YouTube has been a big help. This guy would have been great. We found other excellent math teachers and he scored at the 95% range. We have used the GED study materials, and if there was something we didn't understand, we just watched a bunch of videos on the subject. He was at the 97% range on the history test, and I expect him to do as well on science and language arts. Good GED study materials and great teachers on YouTube.
When he was younger, he couldn't do any of it. But his brain has caught up now and basically, he covered arithmetic, algebra 1, algebra 2, and geometry in a year and a half.
I sure wish our schools would catch on to this.

came with "interesting" educational histories. Sounds like PhD material to me.
Personally, I was a less than stellar student. They wouldn't even let me into the high school Math Club. So, I just out scored them all on the national math contest and then went the PhD route anyway.
