Not a huge fan of Ellison, but the differences between Ellison and Perez were staggering (especially in regards to corporate money), and we know that Clintonites don't actually want a 50 state strategy. A Pelosi-Schumer-Perez leadership team is exactly what the Republicans would hope for. This is a giant middle finger to all the Bernie supporters that remained Democrats thinking they could work within the system (and hopefully will cause many of them to leave the party after yet another betrayal).

but I think past history has shown that these hideous parties can last far beyond their expiration date. Corporate money and foolish partisans might keep the zombie Democratic Party running for much longer than it should. I'll certainly be encouraging DemEnterers and people who never left the party in the first place to reconsider opting out.

there were no honest brokers in that race. And isn't that touching that Perez made Ellison his 'Deputy' or whatever? They're both going to stalk what Dims are left for the Clinton creature.
Why DNC chair candidates attended a private donor retreat instead of the Women's March
The Washington Free Beacon first reported Saturday that only one candidate for chair of the Democratic National Committee — South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg — attended a march.
The rest? They were at a retreat in Florida dedicated to the future of the party, hosted by Democratic activist David Brock for top donors and party members. To some critics, it was more evidence of how the party's leadership has shunned its grassroots in favor of its donors.
*
Others like Perez did not participate in the full retreat. The former labor secretary flew in for the on-the-record portion and left shortly after, offering praise for the marchers.
*
Business Insider also learned that Rep. Keith Ellison, a frontrunner for the job considered close to many grassroots activists in the party, previously scheduled a meeting with a group of DNC members and activists in Florida before Brock invited the DNC candidates to the forum. Ellison left for the private meeting shortly after appearing at Brock's forum.

Keith Ellison was not appointed Vice Chair, which is an actual position created by the DNC Charter. Perez named him "Deputy Chair", whatever the heck that means. There is nothing in the DNC Charter or By-Laws about a "Deputy Chair" position.
Hence, the video.

Which is exactly why they should have gone to Thomas Frank (my choice, but if not Frank, then someone like him) and said "We know that you aren't seeking this job, but will you please help us save what's left of America?"
Of course they would need to do the unthinkable (for them, at least) and let him run the show with no interference from the Clintons, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, Pelosi, et al. This would be a small step towards returning the government to its citizens.
They've shown that they have no interest in reviving the Democratic party and making it the people's party that it was 80 years ago. Chairman Perez? More like Debbie Wasserman-Schultz 2.0. Guys and gals, as of today, the Democratic party is D.O.A. Oh, Trump and the Repubs could fuck up as badly as Bush and the Repubs did after the 2004 general election which allowed the Dems to come roaring back to take Congress in 2006 and add the White House in 2008. Despite the efforts of the other nine candidates who sought the office, the only ones anybody gave a chance to were Ellison and Perez. On issues related to the DNC’s tasks, the two men’s views were extremely close. But their campaigns for the post were widely viewed by most observers as a contest between the more centrist establishment wing of the party represented by Perez and the liberal wing represented by Ellison. But there was a fair amount of cross-over voting.
No room for activists like @NinaTurner. A small corporate party is the future. Party reform is a slippery slope to winning. Perez gets it. https://t.co/vsqbIDzaiH

or change anything that they have been doing for decades or especially since the Clintons created the third way of triangulation.
If they were trying to "learn their lessons after the disastrous midterm elections and Hillary losing to Trump of all people then they wouldn't have stayed with Pelosi and Schumer. And if they had been upset after the midterms they would have fired DWS and put someone else in place that would have gotten better results.
But if DWS wasn't in her position as head of the DNC she couldn't have done everything she could to make sure that Hillary won the primary.

So yeah how is the Ol' Bern going to react here.
Will he praise corporate TPP Perez? You know, everything he campaigned against?
The country is ripe for a 3rd party and the Bern just doesn't have the courage to do it. 30 years of being an independent and his chance is now, but won't take it. Quite sad honestly.

It was gross having to listen to reporters gush about Perez and his connections to HRC and BO.
If Bernie doesn't do the right thing now, my countdown to join the anti-berners begins now.

People are laying out the red carpet for him. To have him lead his OWN PARTY. You would think an independent would like that. To craft their own values and positions into a living entity such as a party.
But instead, just ho hum bleh sentences. He backed Ellison, that guy lost. Now the corporate guy is in charge. What needs to happen for Bern to leave? The reality is that the Dems can do whatever they want, and it seems that Bern will find a way to stay attached to them. Does Bernie think he has power in the Dem party? He is the sheepdog Schumer pulls out of his pocket to corral those disillusioned souls back into Schumer's pocket. Bernie has (and had) a historic moment to potentially change American politics...but is just too cowardly to do it.
Edit: To clarify, I like(d) Bernie. I voted for him in the primary. He made me feel hopeful. Watching it get closer to the end the hope died. Though, before knowing Bern was running, I was going to vote like I did in 2012: Green. So when Bern lost I moved to Green again which I did in November. It just seems that all this energy and momentum, this potential defining moment in history, served on a silver platter...utterly squandered.

he will not go against the democrats. Ever. He made a deal with them after he lost his first run for congress that was something like he would caucus and vote with them and they wouldn't allow anyone to run as a democrat against him.
I wish I had the link to the article where I read that.
But that's another reason why he didn't run 3rd party after he lost to Hillary.

The Dems are too stupid/afraid to even take the figleaf of a co-opted, comprised progressive as DNC chair.
The ratio of humour to anger in responses around the web give me the view that DemExit will accelerate towards success. Be interesting to see how the JusticeDems, Our Revolution and DraftBernie folks act in the next week. Will also be keeping an eye on the recent Berniecrat take over of the CA state Dem party, see if it amounts to anything or if they start leaving.
2017 is going to be a very interesting year. The Northern Ireland election next week will be the opening shot in the re-unification process, there's a perfect storm of conditions that brought the powersharing govt down that could deal a hammer blow to Unionism and may put Sinn Fein in as First Minister. Maybe. Either way, it is the opening salvo in the re-unification game which Brexit has triggered - my prediction is 5 years to a border poll in favour of re-unification. Just waiting on May to trigger Article 50 next month.

the vote to make it seem close, just like the Amash Conyers vote.1 They want us to believe that the DNC is almost evenly divided between Third Way and liberals. HA! If you believe that, I have a stunning bridge in which I'd like to try to interest you. Not only is it visually stunning, but it's really a great moneymaker, too. You'll get rich within six months, I promise. (By the time six months elapse, your money and me will be long gone. Sorry!)
1 Well, not just like the Amash Conyers vote. That took some figuring. Who had no chance to win the next election anyway, whose seats were safest, no matter how they voted, etc. You don't get to be Speaker of the House, Majority Leader or Minority Leader without knowing how to figure out these things, including conferring with your counterpart from the other big party. I think Amash Conyers was especially difficult because Republicans were likely to tick off their libertarian wing, while Democrats were likely to tick off their non-bot wing.

The real SparkyGump has passed. It was an honor being your human.
This cost me 54 bucks!
$27 to BNC
$27 to DraftBernie
(second one contingent on Bernie actually starting a party - which I'm guessing he won't, so why not?)
Compensated Spokes Model for Big Poor.
Speaking of such
Will he praise corporate TPP Perez? You know, everything he campaigned against?
The country is ripe for a 3rd party and the Bern just doesn't have the courage to do it. 30 years of being an independent and his chance is now, but won't take it. Quite sad honestly.
Well, he is staying on message
I wonder where this will lead?
It was gross having to listen to reporters gush about Perez and his connections to HRC and BO.
If Bernie doesn't do the right thing now, my countdown to join the anti-berners begins now.
dfarrah
He won't
Until Bernie is willing to lose his seat
I wish I had the link to the article where I read that.
But that's another reason why he didn't run 3rd party after he lost to Hillary.
Was Humpty Dumpty pushed?
OMG I feel quite delirious with joy....
Twitter folk?
WTF ...
@eState4Column5
Not a surprise. But, at least they took the trouble to kabuki
the vote to make it seem close, just like the Amash Conyers vote.1 They want us to believe that the DNC is almost evenly divided between Third Way and liberals.
