Remember that there is an implicit acceptance of the principle of "progressive liberalization" which trade activists describe as sort of a noose, that can only get tighter, never looser, around the neck of Democracy, itself. .
What would it take to get a law passed that there ALWAYS be a "none of the above" selection in elections that is always tabulated, and if it wins they have to wait a month and have another election with new candidates.
Other countries can trigger recall elections and throw out the incumbents but we can't, why not?
Its abusive to have parties that claim they have a right to rig elections.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave one of the most important speeches of his presidency yesterday, but it was only covered in a Turkish newspaper, and the Wall Street Journal (who buried Zelenskyy's comments under a very different headline).
Have you ever noticed how libertarians universally know that if the government simply got out of the way then free-market fundamentalists like themselves would flourish? If only they had this chance, then libertarians could prove that they were right all along, that all systemic problems come from the government.
If only they were given a chance.

I am very humbled and honored to be taking on the Open Thread for Thursday slot from Dawn's Meta. I am quite sad that her current circumstances and travails forced this to happen, as I loved her Homesteading in France posts. They inspired me to start thinking about moving overseas myself!
And so, I, will attempt to fill her shoes, as much as I am able.
