We've got some blues with a New Orleans flavor this week, compilation albums from Smiley Lewis and The Meters. There's also some Ten Years Afer and Stone The Crows in the blues-rock department. There's some stuff from two Carlene Carter albums, one mostly recorded with Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe. For a further change of pace, we've got Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen and Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks.

Living through the tough times of string of crises a few years ago created a desire for to once again have those older relatives who lived through the depression and World War II back in my life. They projected calmness and initiated actions to restabilize life into a new pattern. Then I realized my chronological age was now similar to theirs when I was a youth. Their best qualities should be reflected in my actions and thoughts. So a new way to interact within the world was created.

Last weekend I was in Utah visiting family (thank you, Janis for hosting while I was away). The trees were in their fall colors, something we don't get here in San Diego. While there I meet up with Snoopy and Sam. We had a nice conversation over lunch at Shooting Star Saloon. Afterwards we took Sam To Pineview Reservoir to play in the water. All in all a fun day and a fun trip.

A few comments first. For starters, I lost any trust I might have had for Tulsi Gabbard when she endorsed that ultra-fake liberal Bernie Sanders. Second, I have taken the decision not to comment on US internal politics on this blog, but in this case I think that rather than seeing Gabbard’s video as an internal US politics phenomenon, I see it as a sign of the amazing state of decay of the USA as a nation: when a (supposed) left liberal takes on the talking points of (supposed) conservatives, something major is happening, especially when you have a (supposed) liberal President in the White House. Finally, Gabbard is way, waaaaaaaay too smart not to see that the Dem Party is a political Titanic and no matter how loud the “propaganda orchestra” plays, that ship is sinking very, very fast. Time to leave it!

They almost universally refuse to accept that those "liberal values" that these billionaire-owned companies are signaling are nothing more than cynical marketing campaigns.
