Elliott Abrams Is Guilty

We are once again witnessing genocide while the world looks on and does nothing about it. Except to keep selling weapons to the country most responsible for it. Countries are concerned about the conditions in Venezuela and yet no one is talking about the massive war crimes happening in Yemen. This is of course hypocrisy. The world is famous for it.

Blumenthal explains how dangerous it is that there’s been a mostly positive, and bipartisan, response to President Trump’s comments about intervening there. Just like when he was bombing Syria, the mainstream media finally praises him for being “presidential”. But Blumenthal wants to know—how is this any different than Russia trying to interfere in our elections, which the political mainstream finds so abhorrent?

America is exceptional, and that includes our genocide. Whether by commission as in some places (with oil), or by omission in other places (without oil - see Rwanda and Yemen), either way you cut it, American genocide is clearly exceptional. Like American debt. And American moral bankruptcy by the ruling class. Great to see Omar prove she has more place on the Foreign Affairs committee than Trump does being President.

I had a whole response written, but I am not comfortable with the level of personal detail it went into. I can and will say I am ambivalent about this man's "comeuppance". It seems too little, too late. I suppose on some level there is a satisfaction that it's on a very visible public record and will be bruited about, but it is such a meagre thing against how vile this person is and what he was responsible for.
