We should be wary of calls for white folks to step to the side because they’re not victims of racial prejudice. This approach isn’t just wrong-headed—it lets white people off the hook. They need to fight on the front lines for racial justice alongside the rest of us.

That is the "white ally model".

The honest one.

Unfortunately, we've had to deal in recent days with Injustice Collectors in every civil rights movement, who would rather continue whining at working-class white people about essentially non-existent "privilege" than actually see the problems if systemic racism addressed and solved, as the latter course would deprive them of their self-assigned importance.

Some who adhere to the [dishonest/pseudo] white allyship framework hold that a person of color, any person of color, is automatically assumed to be the authority on all matters related to race—so white people need to be quiet and follow their lead.

As I pointed out above, the genuine alliance framework works more like this:

There is an answer, and it lies in organizing—fighting against, and taking over, the institutions and structures that oppress, impoverish and divide us all.

An injury to any is an injury to all.

Anything else is Injustice Collecting, not injustice fighting!

If we become 'all just people together', The Psychopaths That Be and their lackeys become outcasts. We must not allow ourselves to be conned into supporting/protecting groups targeting others, meaning, of course, such targeting as is based on any reason other than rejecting criminality and abuses of others, such abuses including 'cost-cutting'/'expedient' environmental destruction.

in college, the "black power" movement arose within the movement. If it had to be encapsulated in as few words as possible it would be that Blacks must be in charge of planning and organizing movements and actions targeting black people, issues and causes.

There were a ton of good, sound reasons why that was pretty obviously true, and it came to be somewhat widely accepted. I have no beef with that at all an support it wholeheartedly. However, in this day and age that doesn't seem to be the entirety of casting "good whites" as allies.

Exactly what this is about and means appears to be part of the attempt by various economic and political elites to co-opt movement forces by fragmentation, to stifle the broader all encompassing push for equality, humanity, dignity and liberty by setting aside innumerable special sub-categories, Hillary's "isms", and fomenting strife between them and those aspiring for the broader struggle, and even among themselves. This divisiveness must be ended.

I have been fighting against racism since the early sixties, not as an ally, but because it is a component of the greater oppression of humankind. The real struggle is for equality for all, for empowerment of all, for dignity and economic sufficiency for all, etc. Each new struggle, sexism, ageism, ableism, and the like are aspects of the greater oppression and suppression, and, as such, much be fought and incorporated into the wider struggle. We don't want or need hundreds of separate movements, some of which are allied with each others, but one big mass movement to bring justice, equality and power over their lives to all people.

Just my 2 cents worth.
