Now, where might you be seeing this particular flag, should you have a passport and be in goodly standing with them thar trusty folk at the TSA?
It's flying outside my house don't count as the answer. Lawes,.... you people, I dunno. I rally don't.
As distinct from the State Flag of Norway, it denotes the presence of the Monarch (currently King Harald V). The design is at least 750 years old, but has gone in and out of use due to changes in geopolitics.
Some variants of the flag show a curved axe shaft.
Anyway. I've just been reading an article about Haakon VII and his lonely life after the death of Queen Maud. The Norwegian royal family is very small after all.
