Warren: " Bernie is my friend, but! Updated

For those who can't watch videos.

Transcript

I disagreed. Bernie is my friend, and I am not here to try to fight with Bernie. But look, this question about whether or not a woman can be president has been raised, and it’s time for us to attack it head-on. And I think the best way to talk about who can win is by looking at peoples’ winning record.

So, can a woman beat Donald Trump? Look at the men on this stage. Collectively, they have lost 10 elections. The only people on this stage who have won every single election that they’ve been in are the women: Amy and me. And the only person on this stage who has beaten an incumbent Republican any time in the past 30 years is me.

And here’s what I know: The real danger that we face as Democrats is picking a candidate who can’t pull our party together, or someone who takes for granted big parts of the Democratic constituency. We need a candidate who will excite all parts of the Democratic Party, bring everyone in, and give everyone a Democrat to believe in. That’s my plan, and that is why I’m going to win.

What is she talking about? Or rather who is she talking about? Was that another dig at Bernie? Hmm?
BTW Bernie beat a republican 30 years ago when he first ran. Oops Liz looks like you're wrong here. Again. And did Bernie actually lose the primary or was it rigged like you said it was when you were first asked?

Update....

Unbelievable. Bernie thought that they were still friends, but Warren doesn't look like she is going to let it go. I will try to find more on this.

Wow. Just wow.

This!

-Warren steals Bernie’s platform
-Warren plagiarizes Bernie
-Warren drops in the polls
-Warren lies about Bernie
-Warren stabs Bernie in the back
-Warren refuses Bernie’s handshake to appear the victim
-Warren is literally gaslighting Bernie and it’s disgusting AF!
______
Im so angry. This betrayal wasnt also of Bernie, but also of every progressive that solidly supported and defended her this whole cycle. My support of Warren as my no. 2 and overall positive view of her is now over completely.
______

And then turn around and donate the money to Bernie.

Get them out of here every single one of these Dem.mother fuckers be they women, 'people of every color', LGBT humans or freaking green Martians. @thanatokephaloides However if I was a Russian peasant or a horse I'd say she I'd have plenty against her. Just saying Hillary may be a woman but she is no more fit for office the the lunatic, moronic clown male we have now. I'm so off of persona/fandom as all the people we are presented with who qualify as candidates,on every level are thick as thieves with the 'owner's of the place'. Bernie might be better but in order to be a player he plays the game. So be it.

Nothing I can do to dismantle the rigged owned system. I don't want to fling myself uselessly against the powers that be. Local politics are the same. My city, county and state are overwhelmingly Democratic but so entrenched and corrupt it seems hopeless to try to get them out of office. Money? Not entirely. People want to believe this is a democracy and they root for their make believe team of good vs. evil. Most of us are heavily invested in keeping our life and loved ones safe in this empirical nasty global system. We go along cause who wants to end up broke on the street, in a camp, or out of work. We blame everyone except the perpetrators of the crimes against humanity and the planet. Otherwise who is to blame? Me, you all of us who go along to live our lives?

On the other hand if people globally withdrew their consent to be ruled by these insane criminals it would perhaps stop this insanity. Change is hard and the consequences would be harsh. Reality and history tells me that it's already harsh and going to get worse if not confronted and stopped. Don't mind me I just see no where to run or no where to hide. I love people but when they get this crazy with good reason, their terrifying. I mean who really gives a shit what he or she says on the stage of meaningless politics. It is what it is and has nothing to do with reality, just naked evil power and money.

Media declares candidate has lost momentum, gets bad advice to go on the attack and ally themselves with some movement of the day when that movement has run it's course. Candidate looks like a fool. Media pounces. Now Warren looks like toast.

With almost unanimous support for Bernie, I wonder if the media is just setting him up for some "gotcha" later and paving the way for Biden. I mean, just a few weeks ago it was socialist, socialist, socialist. Today he's a good guy? He's leading in some polls and that puts a big target on his back.

I really thought the charade of Warren's 2016 endorsement should have made it clear where her interests lay. It seemed like a lot of people, including Bernie, disagreed and thought it didn't matter, it was just politics, tabula rasa, etc. The older I get, the more convinced I am that these seemingly little things 100% are a clue to a person's character. When people start building up a list of actions that make people say "well, that was out of character for them", maybe it's the popular impression of that person's character that is wrong.

She has been accused by somebody that she can't win. She says Bernie said it to her and he says she didn't.

Two possible explanations.

1. Of them is lying.

2. He said something and that was her interpretation of what he said and she misinterpreted what he said.

Two things that happen in court often, come immediately to my mind.

1. It is like fucking divorce court. Testimony in divorce court often sounds like the two people never even lived on the same planet. And both parties are under oath.

2. About 400 years ago, the English passed a law called the Statute of Frauds and Perjuries which in essence recognized that courts have no ability to decide which of two parties is telling the truth about the terms of a contract. The courts' solution to this problem was that in order to have a valid contract the courts would enforce, it had to be in writing. It is still the law today.

Nobody really knows what was said between the two of them, and even if you tend to think one has more cred than the other, you could be absolutely wrong.

Warren did make a good argument about being able to win. And if the last time Bernie beat a Republican was 30 years ago, that is close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades.

There's ample video proof that Bernie has been saying for decades a woman could be elected US President.

There's ample proof that Liz has a real problem with truth-telling.

As Caity from Oz said in her piece today:

It’s been years since anyone has believed that a woman cannot win a US presidential election. If you claim that the one person in the world who does believe this is a senator who’s spent decades advocating for feminism and women in politics, you are a liar. It absolutely is that simple.

Warren has had plenty of opportunity to de-escalate this. Instead she's used innuendo to perpetuate it. I don't know what exactly her game is but it's pretty obvious from her personal history, her political record and her waffling on the critical issues that she's a fraud, trying to portray herself as progressive when she most certainly is not.

@snoopydawg About Sanders' character either.

1.) Like never mentioning in 2016 that he would not run as an Independent, after he said so the summer before the primaries, in a rinky-dink interview, when nobody knew who he was. A lot of people thought he would run as an Independent if he failed to get the nomination. He stayed quiet about it, afraid it would turn voters off if they knew.

2). Like letting his supporters believe he was going to do something at the Convention and he didn't.

3). Then supporting Clinton.

4). Then the Russiagate shit.

5). And then the fact that he is very cryptic about Israel when he is Jewish.

And I am sure the supporters who feel they got burned by Sanders last time could easily add to the list.

@snoopydawg You don't trust Warren because you think she a history of lying and you are a Bernie supporter so it is easy for you to conclude that Warren is a liar, whereas a Warren supporter would probably not conclude that what she said are lies. But you do.

And people who are bummed about Bernie, might not be inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt that you do.

I will say one thing about Warren that I find bizarre. And that is the application for a Texas license that was posted above. There was no benefit whatsoever that I know to putting on an application for reciprocity, that she was Native American. None that I have ever heard of -- and my application for reciprocity never looked anything like this one, which looks to be of postcard size. Most are on 8.5 X 11 or on legal size paper.

To get a license by reciprocity all a lawyer usually needs to show is that he/she is a member of the bar of another state, graduated from an ABA approved law school, has been a member of the bar for five years or more, and is in good standing with all state bar associations of which he/she is a member. If you meet those requirements, reciprocity is automatic.

Things like race or gender or heritage have nothing to do with acceptance to a bar.

So why would she put that identity on an application if it conferred no benefit to her whatsoever, unless she truly believed that she was Native American and wanted to be known as one?

And it is not that unusual for people in Texas or Oklahoma to think they have native American heritage. (I grew up in Texas, went to law school in Texas, practiced law in Texas for half my legal career, and married a woman from Texas). We all thought my father-in-law was part Cherokee. But DNA tests, of his daughter, my sister-in-law, showed she had no native American DNA, and we were all surprised.

I just find that whole native American identity thing bizarre. But I don't conclude that she was lying about it or got any benefit from it.

@davidgmillsatty

I know Warren HAS lied. Bias has nothing to do with it. Period. Again I ask you if you have read any of the things that I have posted that back this up? When there was a draft Warren campaign for president I was fully on board with it. As was Bernie. He waited for her to decide before he made the decision to run.

But if you can look at what she did to Bernie in any way that she didn't out of nowhere accuse her 'good friend' of telling her she couldn't be president then I don't know what facts you are looking at.

And again I am not a Bernie supporter. I do not participate in voting since 2008 which I have mentioned here numerous times. My vote in Utah does not count for numerous reasons so why bother? But I definitely do not want to see Biden get the nod nor Warren or any other centrist that will sell us out just as Obama and Trump did.

And your lawyer facts don't interest me because I am not of that world. I could relate facts from a medical standpoint on this, but I doubt anyone would understand what I am saying.

@snoopydawg Does not mean it did not happen. And just because Tulsi confirms that Bernie never said anything to her like that, does not mean that Bernie didn't say it to Warren.

And what is part of Bernie's character are the things I have mentioned above, which you did not dispute. And I find those to be character flaws, possibly worse than lying, especially if the lies are trivial.

And in this day and age, almost everything that is a quote, is taken out of context to some degree. If you don't know the context, then it is easy to conclude something said was a lie. I can't buy the idea that something is a lie when I have no idea of the entire context and something like twitter is horrible for context.

There is no room for nuance in today's media circus and that includes the MSM and the blogosphere.

@davidgmillsatty

Elizabeth Warren just now decided to throw this long-ago, unwitnessed, private conversation to the media at this time — 3 weeks before the Iowa caucuses. Why would she do that if not as a purely political attack?

Supposedly it was her campaign staffers that gave it to the media — people who were not even present, and didn’t hear anyone say anything — but she’s now running full on with this story nonetheless. It’s pretty obvious she orchestrated this character attack on Bernie.

The point that some former enthusiastic Bernie supporters from 2016 have cooled to him is utterly irrelevant. I’m one of them. I would still vote for him if he gets the nomination, but I doubt very much he would get any of his agenda passed into law if he wins. My vote would be to “fire” Trump, but as much as I despise trump, most of the dem candidates would not get my vote.

This despicable attack by warren does put her on the no list, for sure. Bernie has always supported women, and advocated for our rights and equality. And he has a long track record of doing so. Warren does seem exactly like Hillary now, with her accusations and whining about sexism. That’s not the way to change it, Liz. Good lord. What an embarrassment she is to the dem party and women in general. She disgusts me after this, and there’s no going back.

@CS in AZ When would you want her to bring it up? Three days before super Tuesday? At the convention? Seems to me the best time to bring it up is early not late. Something happened between those two that we don't know about.

I am not a supporter of Warren by a long shot. Under no circumstances would I ever vote for Clinton. But if need be, I could vote for Warren. Whatever Warren's drawbacks, I do not see her as corrupt. And corrupt is where I draw the line.

Clinton was outrageously corrupt and the evidence of her corruption was everywhere. But I see very little evidence of corruption with Warren. She seems pretty clean. Her advocacy against outrageous banking laws that screw the poor and middle class is pretty damn commendable in my view.

And she is also good on M4A. She was a co-sponsor of Bernie's bill.

I agree with Krystal Ball that Warren's smear of Bernie is probably one of the lowest blows I have ever seen. Warren has shown her true colors and they are not pretty at all.

It's weird because at the beginning of the campaign, my greatest disdain was for Kamala Harris. But at least Kamala Harris did not pretend to be someone she was not. While I believe that Buttigeig is the most dangerous of the remaining candidates, my greatest hatred is toward Warren. I will never find a reason to like this two faced, back stabbing, snake ever again now or in the future. She is evil.

I expect a scolding note from Alligator Ed soon, complaining about this unearned insult to perfectly honest, hard-working reptiles, the snakes.

Of course, there are snakes who eat other snakes. Where's a decent (and hungry) bull snake when you need one?

Biggrin

edit: /s. I don't want Senator Warren to actually be eaten by a bull snake. Wink

Let's just say we were both running for President and two years before the election you told me that a woman couldn't win an election in 2020 against Trump. Considering your track record of supporting women in politics I would have made damned sure to clarify what you meant before I repeated it. Warren didn't clarify anything. Was it a vague statement that could have been misintrepreted? Was it a fist-slamming condemnation of women candidates? Was it specifically aimed at Warren? We don't know because now that she announces it she won't discuss details. Bad sign. Also, why wait two years, when she began falling precipitously in the polls, to disparage the candidate who's getting her votes?

The whole riff about men not being able to win an election (and that's essentially what she was asserting) is bullshit, considering the current occupants of political office across the US, and broad statements like that are merely a continuation of the war of the sexes from the other side. And that was from the same thinking as Clinton used with "Obama boys" and "Bernie Bros".

Warren has been walking back her liberal positions since she became viable in this race, and with every step back she's been losing supporters.

Warren now has the stench of desperation. Time for her to consider another line of work besides the Presidency.

@Bob In Portland Or the context of it.

If it is bad for her not to discuss what he said, it seems to me that is just as bad for him not to defend himself.

And I thought his comment about "Why would I say that, since Clinton won by 3 million votes," was disingenuous as hell. She lost the election even though she beat Trump by 3 million votes.

Clinton lost the EC by a huge margin. And actually the combined totals of Libertarians and Republicans vs. Democrats and Greens actually was a popular victory for the conservatives: 67,474,169 to 67, 310,732. And the Libertarians cost Trump MN, CO, NV, NH, and one Maine EC delegate (Trump really got Naderized but won anyway).

So to say Clinton won was fudging big time. Especially if you look at how much more of an EC landslide and a very close popular vote had the Libertarians not been so successful.

Really tired of hearing that Clinton won.

He did defend himself. Did you watch any of the videos I posted that addressed this? He said he did not say that. His history of supporting women and women issues support that. Again Warren has a history of lying about her life experiences. So why should we believe her on something that is so out of character for Bernie?
